  • Thank you. by smooblebooble (Sun 27th Dec 2020 4:40am)
  • I wish I could find Mother Pride in the US but it's impossible unless you buy it off Ebay. That's actually the only reason I'm moving to Scotland is for the bread. /s by smooblebooble (Sun 27th Dec 2020 2:19pm)
  • I mean I'm fine with anything from driving trucks to sitting behind a counter as long as I'm making enough to live and have some free time. by smooblebooble (Sun 27th Dec 2020 2:18pm)
  • Believe me I'm not overtly friendly Haha. Thanks for all the advice I'll look into it later today when I get off work. Like i said i have a Scottish mother with Scottish family so i know how friendly most of you are and Glasgow is where I spent a lot of my childhood holidays and such so I love the city already. And I've spent a lot of time in cities with a lot of gun violence and gangs (I live in Oakland and spent a lot of time in San Bernadino CA) so while I dont prefer it it isnt a total dealbreaker but it's nice to know there isnt any lol. Thank you. by smooblebooble (Sun 27th Dec 2020 2:16pm)
  • Of course what else would I have meant. Bare knuckle boxing is becoming all the rage in the US. by smooblebooble (Sun 27th Dec 2020 4:22pm)
  • Thanks a lot for the advice this is all very reassuring I was pretty worried I would get there and just die lol. Especially since I cant rely on family due to covid rules. by smooblebooble (Sun 27th Dec 2020 4:21pm)

  • What if I love nature, am a wildlife photographer, and am sober so night life isn't too important to me? Edit: not a hypothetical if it sounded like one haha. by smooblebooble (Mon 6th Dec 2021 11:32pm)
  • Thank you for taking the time to write all this haha. Appreciate it. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 9:49am)
  • Well I live in Glasgow so that's not really an issue for me, but I can definitely understand where you're coming from. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 9:52am)
  • Well I'm far from middle class haha. I'd love to know if this is more a unique experience for you or if this is how it is for a lot of people? You're the only one who's seemed to say something along these lines, so I'd be interested to know how much truth is behind this. (Not saying you're lying by any means, just saying I'd love to 1. Know more and 2. For others to back what you're saying as well.) by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 10:07am)
  • Would you say what they're sayin is actually pish or does it have merrit? by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 10:04am)
  • Glasgows great! I think a lot of people are still stuck in that mindset that Glasgow is all trainspotting or as if it's still how it was during the 1900s with lots of gang violence and how it was known as a tough city. Especially the old folks or the weens. Glasgow has its bad parts like every city, but I've never felt unsafe or anything. The history is fantastic, lots of museums and historical buildings. Also a lot of great food. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 10:17am)
  • I wish that any new buildings built had to be built to match the historical areas of Glasgow. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 1:22pm)
  • Haha yeah ive been once and the greyness was not underestimated. The real selling point for me was when I went down by the water at sunset. I've been sober 3 years so a hangover shouldn't be a problem at this point in my life. The greyness is definitely a bit awful though. It also seemed not deserted, but nowhere near as busy as Glasgow for obvious reasons. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 2:23pm)
  • The ocean was magnificent. I have to say the most "at peace" I've felt in a long time was when I looked out over the ocean with the seabirds all across the beach during sunset. It overshadowed the greyness. I was only able to visit for a day, however, which is why I didn't get the full picture. My life has been really stressful so far and I want to have a calmer life for awhile. Aberdeen seems to fit that expectation from the outside. Just trynae make sure beyond it being "boring and grey" it's an ok place to live. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 2:26pm)
  • Ah sorry haha you're right by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:18pm)
  • Ah fair enough. I've heard my whole life all the other Scottish cities are shite and as Edinburgh is the only one outside of Glasgow I've spent any real time in I had no way of knowing otherwise. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:27pm)
  • Hopefully I'll have a better experience, but you never know! by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:25pm)
  • I'm less so worried about crime for myself more for my girlfriend, but it's great to hear this perspective from someone's who's really lived there. I won't have to worry about racism as I look very much like a bland Scottish person. I appreciate you dispelling what he said as I was sceptical of it as it didn't align with what others had been saying. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:25pm)
  • I loved in the US in Oakland for 6 years, that's obviously not ideal, but 53 is nothing compared to most urban areas of the US. Thank you for letting me know though, definitely something to look out for. by smooblebooble (Tue 7th Dec 2021 3:32pm)
  • That's so nice! I'd really appreciate that, but would me being vegan affect that? by smooblebooble (Tue 21st Dec 2021 6:18pm)

  • I haven't been wanting to go to food banks because I don't feel as if I'm the targeted audience. I don't want to take a meal from someone who needs it more than me. by smooblebooble (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 1:07pm)
  • Thank you! I sadly can't do Costco because without a car it's just way to far for me. I meant like stores with bins where you can buy stuff for like pence/kg or something. by smooblebooble (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 1:05pm)
  • All good thank you for the generous offer by smooblebooble (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 1:13pm)

  • I've gotta be able to move around a decent amount that's why I need the freedom of 2 zones sadly. I don't have a specific point a to point b. by smooblebooble (Wed 22nd Dec 2021 8:16pm)
