  • Okay yes I'm from the US so it's a bit different. It's frustrating that the student housing is only having year long accommodation. For non-students what sites do locals use to look for apartments? I'll check out the spareroom too! Thanks! by spaceamphibian (Mon 9th May 2022 6:07pm)
  • Great, appreciate it! by spaceamphibian (Mon 9th May 2022 6:14pm)
  • Great that's good to know. So I will avoid the student housing then. Do the private residential typically have places that are furnished ever? What website would you use to search for PRT? by spaceamphibian (Mon 9th May 2022 6:10pm)
  • Yeah they sent me a accommodation list and I've gone through each site. Most of it is private student housing with 52 week terms. The few with short term have no availability right now. Also I'm a grad student and would prefer to avoid sharing with lots of other younger students. Looking more for a private studio. by spaceamphibian (Mon 9th May 2022 6:36pm)
  • Fantastic, ill give these a look. Thanks for the advice! by spaceamphibian (Mon 9th May 2022 7:35pm)
  • It says min 41 weeks on the application they sent and mostly for undergrad. Did you do masters work there? by spaceamphibian (Thu 12th May 2022 5:42pm)
  • They are asking for about 560/month for a studio and at Caledonian. I'm having a hard time finding a place. Not so much that's available but most don't want to rent to internationals it seems, which I get it makes sense. by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 4:21pm)
  • Yeah it's not sounding like a good idea the more I hear. All the traffic plus the train it's got to be really bad. by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 4:26pm)
  • Oh wow, is it really that bad? It's hard for me to know without ever been. In comparison to a major US city. I live by Washington DC and can handle that okay but I have no idea if Glasgow would be considered worse or better. Or even in comparison to NYC. by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 4:30pm)
  • Yeah this isn't sounding like a good option at all. My other choice is on St. Andrews street which is a farther walk but at least a little farther from the station. Maybe a better choice? by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 4:36pm)
  • Definitely going to start looking at commuter towns now! by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 4:49pm)
  • Thanks I'm going to look into commuting now by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 5:28pm)
  • Yeah I'm going to cancel. I just kind of immediately accepted what was available when it came open cause everything else was booked so didn't want to lose it but now it's obviously terrible lol by spaceamphibian (Mon 11th Jul 2022 5:27pm)
  • Hey any idea about the area at St Andrews street that crosses with Saltmarket? This has come up with availability as well. by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 2:29pm)
  • Looks like my kind of place! by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 2:34pm)
  • No I could stay there just trying to avoid having to share facilities with young undergraduate students. I forget to mention I'm a grad student and a bit old haha by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 2:37pm)
  • Unfortunately it appears all sold out by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 2:35pm)
  • Any idea if St Andrews street would be okay? I have that option now. Or is the whole city pretty much bad? by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 7:10pm)
  • Great thanks. I notice it has good by central, I wonder how accurate these are. Like where the collection points are and the height it's measuring it at. Being a person walking on the streets and dealing with it directly from the vehicles is probably a lot higher then what the devices are measuring I imagine by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 9:19pm)
  • Cool I would've assumed higher collection points. So maybe not soo bad. Of course what they consider "good" could be up for debate lol. Appreciate the research! by spaceamphibian (Tue 12th Jul 2022 10:05pm)
