  • Hey, I've been trying to buy in the West End and seen much the same. Completely disregard whatever "Offers Over" you see online. Offers over £120k means home report will be closer to £130k and the seller will be wanting £135k+ at least. Been very demoralising. by thecustardgannet (Fri 6th Nov 2020 6:01pm)
  • I was running my usual route along the canal a few days ago and had to turn back because the ice was so bad. It's a good bit to run, but those paths don't typically get salted or gritted! by thecustardgannet (Wed 13th Jan 2021 2:04pm)
  • I live round the corner from there and we had a planning permission thing come through the door a few weeks back. Didn't look too closely at it, but I think it said they might be getting a renovation/expansion... by thecustardgannet (Tue 13th Apr 2021 9:44am)

  • There's a cool local market thing they have at Chatelherault every Sunday. Loads of food stalls selling all sorts - even a full hog roast! Had no idea about it until I randomly stopped by a few weeks ago by thecustardgannet (Tue 9th Aug 2022 9:34am)
  • Just yesterday I saw three men in a van beeping and wolf whistling a woman who was sat, minding her own business outside a cafe in Finnieston in the middle of the day. This shit happens virtually everywhere to some extent by thecustardgannet (Wed 10th Aug 2022 7:39am)
  • Give Ken at Morton Guitars a message - he really knows his stuff in getting old guitars working well. Does a lot of work with the Music For All charity as well, cleaning up old guitars. https://m.facebook.com/MortonGuitars/ by thecustardgannet (Wed 10th Aug 2022 12:10pm)

  • The 926/976 bus should take you as far as Arrochar. The start of the Cobbler walk is just off the main road at the A83 by thecustardgannet (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 3:24pm)
  • Looks like the 926 bus comes back in that direction as well. There's a PDF timetable on this page https://www.westcoastmotors.co.uk/services/WCMO/926?date=2022-08-26&direction=inbound by thecustardgannet (Fri 26th Aug 2022 1:39pm)
  • Waterproof shoes are a must. And a portable umbrella would be useful. Some days can start very sunny, then it's heavy rain 30 mins later. Be ready for changeable weather by thecustardgannet (Sun 28th Aug 2022 1:03pm)

  • Had no idea! Will need to check it out - I had langostines last time that were incredible. The other place I liked was the restaurant by The Fish People that used to live right next to the Sheilds Rd Subway. Was a hidden gem, but I don't think it survived Covid by thecustardgannet (Thu 27th Oct 2022 2:18pm)

  • The Cobbler at Arrochar is about an hours drive from Glasgow. It's a good walk - the start takes a good hour to get through some nice woodland, but the final ascent gives you great views of Loch Long, Loch Goil and out to Loch Lomond. Plus you can get something to eat in Slanj on the way back! https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/lochlomond/the-cobbler.shtml https://www.slanjrestaurant.co.uk/ by thecustardgannet (Fri 2nd Dec 2022 1:24pm)
  • Especially if you get a clear day! The loop that includes Beinn Narnian and Beinn Ìme is great as well, but it makes for a much longer day. Especially on the final stretch when you're zig-zagging back down the woodland path towards the road level again! by thecustardgannet (Fri 2nd Dec 2022 1:32pm)

  • Avalon carpets in Partick did a great job of putting a carpet in for my bedroom last year - good price and service of getting it fitted was great too. They do vinyl flooring, etc as well - planning on using them again when I decorate the bathroom by thecustardgannet (Mon 27th Mar 2023 11:38am)
