  • Are you still in bc? What did you think about the change? I’m afraid of moving away from (in my humble opinion) one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen but I’m excited about the prospect of experiencing something new by thtsveryinteresting (Tue 8th Sep 2020 2:56am)
  • I'm eligible for the 5 year ancestry visa and am applying in March! by thtsveryinteresting (Sat 26th Dec 2020 10:33pm)
  • thank you. I need to hear this too - my family keeps harping on me about leaving my job but am I really gonna let me job dictate the rest of my life? Having a hard time keeping a balance of that. by thtsveryinteresting (Sat 26th Dec 2020 11:17pm)
  • Oh boy. I'm biased but Vancouver is so so so amazing. All of the people I've met from other cities and countries have all fallen in love with the place and many settle here permanently. The ocean and mountains are unreal - I never get tired of appreciating the raw beauty of BC and Canada at that. You will be in awe! I went to Glasgow/England last Christmas and it was so lovely, but it is surely much more flat than out here. People harp on and on about how expensive it is here, how much it rains, how unfriendly Vancouverites are, blah blah blah. We've had the world's driest December ever, when it's sunny (and it is quite often) everyone flocks outdoors. It's not that expensive in the grand scheme of cities - flats are about the same price to rent as Glasgow. Car insurance is absolutely crazy, that is true. But public transport is so good that I've never had to own a car. I miss the Vancouver before COVID (everyone does of course). Live music was huge, comedy clubs, dancing, theatre and all that is great out here - cannot wait for it's return. People are so friendly! But be prepared to have to make the first move in regards to chatting people up. I have the best conversations with strangers, just last week a woman in front of my in the line at the supermarket pretty much told me her whole life story haha. In regards to jobs right now, yes there's a recession. But the film industry is huge out here and they've been back in the swing of things in a big way. I'm getting a bit rant-y but tldr I'm in love with Vancouver and I see myself settling here for forever one day, once I see the world a bit more :-) by thtsveryinteresting (Sat 26th Dec 2020 11:27pm)
  • lol. to buy, it's insanity. Most people live with roommates here - 1 and 2 bedrooms are basically unaffordable but three+ bedrooms seem to be the magic number. by thtsveryinteresting (Sun 27th Dec 2020 10:10am)
  • lol. I don't drink but I've got a masters in swearing. I've got a heavy appreciation for rain although I'm aware it's constant in Glasgow. can't wait by thtsveryinteresting (Sun 27th Dec 2020 11:53pm)
  • Yeah it's daunting to say the last. Museum job market not good right now or in general? by thtsveryinteresting (Sun 27th Dec 2020 11:57pm)
  • Right on, thanks for that. Hadn't considered colleges. I am definitely used to being the diversity quota - in college and now in my job. I've already had my fair share of imposter syndrome and am not nearly as green as I used to be thanks to that. Cheers man! by thtsveryinteresting (Sun 27th Dec 2020 11:56pm)
