  • This thread is a beacon of light in dark times. I welled up constantly reading both it and its responses. I miss Glasgow so much and I wish everyone there, all at the 13th Note and OP nothing but the best. by timmyvermicelli (Fri 7th Aug 2020 6:58am)
  • Has there been a lot of theft of bigger-engined motorbikes too? One main draw of bikes is their park anywhere ability but if you need to be thinking about theft constantly I'd probably not bother. Sorry you had this happen mate. by timmyvermicelli (Tue 16th Mar 2021 7:13am)

  • What's the cheapest city centre parking for about 8 hours? Buchanan Galleries car park seemed quite expensive the longer you stay. Obviously on-street parking is extortionate. by timmyvermicelli (Sat 14th Aug 2021 12:39pm)
  • Football pitches at Garthamlock-y Easterhouse-y way (just off the M8 before the Fort) are really good. Indoor halls are available all over the place. Gorbals was good for availability for badminton compared to some others. by timmyvermicelli (Sat 14th Aug 2021 12:36pm)
  • Not on Buchanan St I don't think, but I was walking past Ichiban on Queen St and wondered if its top floor was a flat or something. It looks like a class city centre location. by timmyvermicelli (Sat 14th Aug 2021 12:41pm)

  • 'Greta and her mates' - a wee lassie with Asperger's who's trying to save the world from its own greed and stupidity. She's a remarkable woman. by timmyvermicelli (Fri 8th Oct 2021 4:22pm)
  • Second on Waterstones on Byres Rd by timmyvermicelli (Mon 11th Oct 2021 11:06am)
  • I much, much prefer Glasgow Club. Swim systems are still a bit of a mess but between Tollcross, Gorbals and Emirates Arena there are plenty of classes at decent times, never usually too busy, and good equipment variety. And it's £27 a month instead of £70. Gorbals also has badminton hire for £5/hr and Emirates has the Refresh Spa for £10 per entry (but that's still closed just now). by timmyvermicelli (Wed 13th Oct 2021 3:06pm)
  • I find Emirates to be fine, never overly busy but I'm not often there at peak time 4-7. by timmyvermicelli (Wed 13th Oct 2021 11:49pm)

  • The trains are crippingly expensive so you just get Ubers? I get a train from Uddingston most days, use 26-30 Railcard and get after 9am train, so it costs me £2.50 return. It's almost never delayed and the trains have been refreshed on my route. Takes 12 minutes from Central. by timmyvermicelli (Wed 20th Oct 2021 7:15pm)
  • Jesus Christ the stress this must be causing. I'm sorry. Do you drive? Try looking in the less popular areas of the east end or Springburn area - or the other side of that Partick line like Cambuslang, Uddingston, Blantyre or Hamilton? by timmyvermicelli (Sat 23rd Oct 2021 11:17am)

  • Closing Prestwick and having a few more Ryanair routes plus following through on the train branch link to the Paisley line would be help, but there's an air of terminal decline about the place. by timmyvermicelli (Fri 29th Jul 2022 7:45pm)

  • Now live in a country where pubs are hardly a thing - I miss the Scotia, Tollbooth, real pub atmospheres. Even a couple of the spoons on a weeknight had a nice atmosphere as well on occasion, and were dirt cheap compared to what I need to pay now... by timmyvermicelli (Fri 5th May 2023 4:38am)

  • It's a rip-off but I think it's fine. Looks cool from the outside as well. Better than the old SECC halls, I don't want to see a band in the same area as the Irn-Bru Carnival (and the funfair had better acoustics). by timmyvermicelli (Wed 6th Sep 2023 5:10am)
  • That marriott is a proper dive too, how they can have that air when it looks more worn than a premier inn inside by timmyvermicelli (Fri 22nd Sep 2023 2:51am)
  • You can tell a lot about someone's outlook on life by their responses to this question. I reckon there'll be a rail link to GLA by then. Potentially trams being built -- subway extension will never happen with its cost. More people will be living in the city centre. St Enoch will become a real centre of the city when the shopping centre is gone and replaced by greenery and market stalls. Duke St will be tarted up, Dennistoun generally will look nicer. Areas like Easterhouse will be left to rot even further will little to no investment. by timmyvermicelli (Sun 1st Oct 2023 5:41am)
