  • Course, but there's always streets worse than others. > why would you be in the cc at night anyway? Do you mean during lockdown or at all? by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jul 2020 9:14pm)
  • Mostly which areas of the city centre should be avoided as a lone woman at night. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jul 2020 9:10pm)
  • Thanks! by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jul 2020 9:19pm)
  • Why would I not? Are women banned from nights out or something? by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jul 2020 9:17pm)
  • Lol how seriously should I take that? No one in a million years would look at me and take me for a fan of any team. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jul 2020 9:24pm)
  • Fair enough. I don't plan to frequent it but part of the appeal (covid aside obviously) is actually getting to see gigs and shows. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jul 2020 9:21pm)
  • No need to be a dick about it. How am I supposed to know which the "bad parts" are without asking locals? Every town has the odd dodgy street but they're hardly listed on tourism websites. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 19th Jul 2020 1:00pm)
  • I've been looking too. The Works is looking for a few staff. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 29th Sep 2020 9:12pm)
  • Great charity by tragicworldrecord (Sun 25th Oct 2020 4:52pm)
  • Valhalla's Goat are a really cool off licence with unusual/quirky brands. I rang the shop to order vouchers on Tuesday and got them in the post Thursday morning. https://www.valhallasgoat.com by tragicworldrecord (Sat 14th Nov 2020 9:49pm)
  • Hope you have a good Christmas together x by tragicworldrecord (Tue 17th Nov 2020 4:43pm)
  • I moved here last month and admittedly I'm half blind and I've only been in the city centre a few times in daylight, but I've noticed none of this! Just the usual homeless people and one old guy who begs by the crossing near Primark every day. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 11:45am)
  • Not at the moment - I'm unemployed right now so tried lots in my area and they aren't taking volunteers during lockdown. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 11:51pm)
  • Me too! At least I could start to meet people who aren't my creepy downstairs neighbour by tragicworldrecord (Sun 20th Dec 2020 4:22pm)
  • I've got a dehumidifier in every room of my flat, why in the name of god would you want to humidify your place? Do you not have enough mould? by tragicworldrecord (Sun 17th Jan 2021 12:55pm)
  • I've one really similar cupboard and taking the doors off really helped, must have needed air circulation. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 19th Jan 2021 11:21pm)
  • Imagine being an uber driver and someone getting in your car, just screaming for a minute then getting out. Wtf lol by tragicworldrecord (Mon 25th Jan 2021 1:02pm)
  • Examine *everything*. Even if it looks rude. Open built in wardrobe doors and check the backs for mould (or in my case, inexplicable giant fucking holes in the brick wall.) Open cupboards likewise. Step everywhere to see how creaky the floors are. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 11th Mar 2021 12:45pm)
  • Bins. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 20th Mar 2021 5:01pm)
  • I never bother locking my shared front door (barely go out anyway tbh) but the most annoyance when my neighbours lock it is a couple extra seconds with my keys. As long as you can still easily unlatch it from the inside without keys, in case of fire, then no you're not a dick- keep doing it. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 21st Mar 2021 4:52pm)
  • When I say I've barely left the house, I mean it - I work from home & am shielding. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 21st Mar 2021 8:39pm)
  • If it were a wall I'd say spray loads of bleach on it, leave it for a day, wipe off, then repaint with mould resistant paint under whatever colour you want. On the ceiling, no idea, fuck knows how you can safely bleach spray it. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 30th Mar 2021 8:44pm)
  • She really hasn't got much in there, what could she get rid of? by tragicworldrecord (Tue 30th Mar 2021 8:41pm)

  • What is the whole Morton's thing? Their van drives through my neighbourhood twice a day blasting its horn and I don't understand why by tragicworldrecord (Thu 29th Apr 2021 4:07pm)
  • But why do they drive round in vans all day like the mafia?! by tragicworldrecord (Fri 30th Apr 2021 11:14am)
  • It doesn't hurt at all, so felt bad calling it urgent, but thanks. Will try and register somewhere. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 1st May 2021 8:39pm)

  • Do not consider it! by tragicworldrecord (Sun 15th Aug 2021 3:49pm)
  • I went to Biffy last night rather than Transmt but security was a joke. Didn't even search my partner's bag, and just took my word for it that I didn't have a bag hidden under my jacket. Could have got any drinks in. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 10th Sep 2021 10:27pm)

  • I feel the pain. I'm yet to be able to pronounce the area where I live in a sufficiently Scottish accent that a bus driver can understand me through a mask. I actually just wrote it down once because fuck it. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 1st Apr 2022 4:53pm)
  • Are you male? I'm female but I know it's completely different for gay men. I second the suggestion of board games nights, basically trying to make connections outside the bars. I've not been to one of Glaswonders' yet but they look really fun. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 8th Apr 2022 1:01pm)
  • I've only ever swum in the sea as an adult and stuff like this genuinely makes me anxious haha. I want to get back into swimming but know fuck all about pool etiquette. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 12th Apr 2022 11:36am)
  • Will give it a go! Am additionally nervous because I can't see a thing without glasses. Do multiple people usually share lanes? How wide are the lanes? by tragicworldrecord (Tue 12th Apr 2022 12:02pm)
  • Thanks for answering my questions lol. I know it seems stupid being so anxious! by tragicworldrecord (Tue 12th Apr 2022 3:24pm)

  • Bad bot by tragicworldrecord (Mon 6th Jun 2022 3:43pm)
  • Try waiting for the 21, the 75 usually comes three or four times before the fucking 21 shows. It's actually quicker to get a bus to Queens Park and get another bus to castlemilk/fernhill. I agree with you and sympathise though, it's a fucking disgrace. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 18th Jun 2022 3:53pm)
  • Come on mate, you're never going to make friends if you don't make *some* effort. You can make excuses all you like not to do XYZ but then it only affects you. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 4:39pm)
  • At the point people are dying you have to do something eh by tragicworldrecord (Fri 8th Jul 2022 4:24pm)

  • Wish they'd fine everyone. Sick of having to drag my dog away from fag ends because lazy cunts just drop them. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 18th Jul 2022 10:42am)
  • My local park used to have two convenient bins, one at the gate and one halfway along a popular path. They've now just fucking taken both away: I've never hung a poo bag off a branch and never will but I'm bloody tempted now. We need more bins! by tragicworldrecord (Mon 18th Jul 2022 10:41am)
  • Do you live in my flat?! Seriously though - either get used to it (I know it's so so bloody hard) or try and find a library or co-working space. Is there any room they're less noisy above? by tragicworldrecord (Mon 25th Jul 2022 5:04pm)
  • This is the best answer, it's the only thing that works for me. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 25th Jul 2022 5:09pm)
  • My upstairs neighbors don't give a flying fuck and the one time we tried to ask them to keep it down they screamed in our faces. The running around shakes the whole flat and they just shout as normal communication. The only thing that's worked* is reverse noise. If they're being mental loud I play a very loud song with my speakers near their ceiling. If they're quieter afterwards, it goes off. If not, a louder one until it works. *Shouting answers to their conversations to embarrass them also works, but requires having to fucking listen to them. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 25th Jul 2022 5:09pm)
  • I'm sorry :( by tragicworldrecord (Mon 25th Jul 2022 9:17pm)
  • Honey can help but it has to be very local to you. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 26th Jul 2022 2:34pm)
  • Am I the only one who can't stand it? It gives me the dryest mouth and throat ever and isn't massively better than other over the counter antihistamines. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 26th Jul 2022 2:33pm)
  • Sign up for mailing lists for venues you like, and for GigsInScotland- they do a weekly email of new gigs announced and rescheduled ones etc. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 27th Jul 2022 11:46am)
  • Do you have custody of your son/when do you normally see him? I'm not a social worker but do volunteer on children's hearing panels and we'd absolutely never stop contact between you and your child just for codeine addiction. (Frankly, not for any drug addiction unless you're also abusive or neglectful in some other way.) by tragicworldrecord (Fri 29th Jul 2022 5:09pm)
  • Don't go back. Fuck their poor service and attitude - go somewhere you feel welcome. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 1st Aug 2022 6:21pm)
  • "The BBC said the seven-strong shortlist was based on the cities' ability to show they have "the capacity, capability and experience to host an event of this scale and complexity". A statement added that the process was "heavily weighted towards demonstrating past experience in hosting major international events, as well as being able to demonstrate their credentials in hosting a celebration of contemporary music" Well whatever your opinion on COP26 we've definitely shown we can host that type of thing. I think Eurovision would be fun, although can't see anyone from here actually going with tickets being like a grand! by tragicworldrecord (Fri 12th Aug 2022 9:32am)
  • I'm fairly environmentally activist and charged nothing for someone to stay. Do you have actual evidence of this? by tragicworldrecord (Fri 12th Aug 2022 9:48am)
  • I'm in Castlemilk. Anyone can offer shite, doesn't mean it was taken or they gave a shit about the environment. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 12th Aug 2022 5:27pm)
  • 1) hopefully not for long and 2) we're allowed to call them cunts for it by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th Aug 2022 2:03pm)
  • To everyone equally annoyed by this: please email your MSP and ask them to support the Proposed Abortion Services Safe Access Zones (Scotland) Bill. The consultation on this ended on 11th August so too late to complete it but any support is better than none. https://www.parliament.scot/bills-and-laws/proposals-for-bills/proposed-abortion-services-safe-access-zones-scotland-bill by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th Aug 2022 2:01pm)
  • Ugh what's he like? Not familiar with him thankfully, but if he's a prick I'd suggest emailing him especially so that he can't ignore opposing views. It can seem futile but my experience of anti-choice politicians is that pro-choice people don't bother to email them, knowing their views, which means they can triumphantly claim that all their constituents are anti choice, because that's the only input they got. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th Aug 2022 4:13pm)
  • 1) I'm referring to the proposed exclusion zones outside abortion providers, where they would not be allowed to protest by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th Aug 2022 4:11pm)
  • "Well I didn’t actually say that the earth needs more humans." "All of the figures suggest that we need more new born children." ... by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th Aug 2022 6:59pm)
  • I'm not agreeing with you mate. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th Aug 2022 8:26pm)
  • That's not great advice. The rental market is absolutely insane right now and I recently saw a flat with an EPC number score of *5* (yes, 5, out of however many you could possibly score) being advertised for at least twice OP's rent. Better the devil you know. by tragicworldrecord (Sat 27th Aug 2022 9:14pm)

  • My office is there and was my introduction to that bit of Glasgow. You know it's bad when the firm has an informal rule that you're not allowed to take the shortcut between streets. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 6th Sep 2022 10:36pm)
  • People shit on Castlemilk for obvious reasons but I love our park, it's beautiful right now (minus the toaster in the pond...) I love walking through it beside the stream, listening to the little waterfall and spotting the wildlife: mostly squirrels and ducks, but there's a heron, and even deer sometimes. The Cathkin Braes are lovely too. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 7th Sep 2022 5:16pm)
  • It would be so cool! Especially if the old ice house was properly restored. Except for the fact if it were still owned by someone they'd keep the plebs out. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 8th Sep 2022 9:03am)
  • Could be worse, mine took all the food bins away except one full one, which they've refused to collect for the past 18 months. I've witnessed the bin men put even more shit on top of it and it's going to burst at some point. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 8th Sep 2022 10:33pm)
  • In an emergency (aka it's all I had and they seemed to love the fucking stuff) any sweet wine works too. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 8th Sep 2022 10:32pm)
  • You know you shouldn't be interacting with your phone whatsoever while driving, even in a cradle, right? "Just having the cricket on" absolutely fucking is distracting and dangerous. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 12th Sep 2022 9:56am)
  • You don't watch a radio, and you shouldn't watch a satnav. If he's only listening to the cricket and not watching it then there's no need for it to be on the dashboard. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 12th Sep 2022 11:02am)
  • No. Stop using whataboutery to defend being a selfish dangerous road user. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 12th Sep 2022 2:53pm)

  • Do you have a local Facebook group or nextdoor group? I know they have a bad rep but I think putting up a post saying what you've said here might shame people into stopping. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 24th Oct 2022 8:17pm)
  • Who's your solicitor? They really should have told you. Make sure you do a walkthrough and check that everything is as it should be (Ie if the contract includes any white goods or curtains, make sure they are still there and function.) by tragicworldrecord (Thu 27th Oct 2022 3:57pm)

  • Decadent Riot in the West End has some really cool stuff that would be great for gifts: https://decadentriot.co.uk/ I love the StuffByMark indie music art prints that they stock. Category Is bookshop in Queens Park is also fantastic and worth supporting. I love mooching around the Hidden Lane in Finnieston, tons of quirky little shops. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 16th Nov 2022 10:01am)
  • Good by tragicworldrecord (Thu 17th Nov 2022 7:52pm)
  • As long as you have the opportunity to spoil your vote I think it should be mandatory too, without a good reason not to attend. An appropriate time period of community service would be a good punishment, but any punishment other than fines are unenforceable and fines are plain unfair. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 18th Nov 2022 8:26pm)
  • I got canvassed. Agree there was barely any campaigning though, if voting card hadn't come I probably would have missed the election. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 18th Nov 2022 8:25pm)
  • I've been informed we weren't actually canvassed, a candidate came round because my wife is a party member haha. Didn't have a single person knock at the actual elections last time. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 18th Nov 2022 10:37pm)
  • Just to add, if your GP has a stupidly long spiel you have to listen to every call/options you have to pick like mine, try ringing at like 8.28. I have better luck that way because I actually join their switchboard around 8.30. I also have luck ringing at 1.30 for any afternoon cancellations. Hope things improve for you. by tragicworldrecord (Mon 21st Nov 2022 11:16am)

  • It's not "better" to prescribe antibiotics on the off chance it's needed than to be cautious and not fuck everyone re antibiotic resistant strains. GPs are full of sick people, where else do you expect them to go? by tragicworldrecord (Wed 21st Dec 2022 1:35pm)
  • Adequate public transport. Would also be delighted if someone finally took away or emptied the fucking fermenting food waste bin in my back court. It's been there and full since I moved here in 2020 and I think it may actually explode. Reported it anywhere I can, no use. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 29th Dec 2022 4:13pm)

  • Do you think I was born yesterday and have never spoken to a TERF before? I have zero interest in "debating" you or your other accounts on basic human rights and I do not care what you have to say. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 8th Jan 2023 6:44pm)

  • https://m.facebook.com/groups/753968118935717/ Rainbow Dinosaur - regular (monthly?) meetup of queer people, mostly in pubs but also has sober meetups if people don't want to be around alcohol. Nothing to do with dinosaurs except one gets stuck on the table so you can see who to sit with! by tragicworldrecord (Sat 21st Jan 2023 2:59pm)

  • Nah, there's just as much litter where people live. There's a tiny waterfall in the park near me and someone's just fly tipped a fucking door at the bottom of it. Who carries a door down several precarious woodland paths and stairs just to dump it?! There's a far bigger dumping ground (including washing machines) in a bigger section of the woods five minutes walk away and it's a disgrace. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 7th Mar 2023 2:46pm)
  • Went there once attempting to get food, and I've never been anywhere before or since that had less understanding of gluten free requirements OR what was in the food they were serving. Even basic questions like "has this pepper sauce got wheat in it". They brought out the old allergen menu which was a gigantic binder containing a load of food not on the actual menu. They very obviously don't cook much fresh. Nice cocktails though, shame they're closing. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 8th Mar 2023 1:52pm)
  • Mine is ten times worse than this. Yesterday the section near my flat was full of prawns. Who the fuck dumps prawns? by tragicworldrecord (Wed 12th Apr 2023 4:23pm)
  • I've not had Cook for a few years but their portions are fairly generous by tragicworldrecord (Tue 25th Apr 2023 11:34am)
  • I second Himalayan Dine. Really nice Nepalese dishes (loved the momos) as well as Indian dishes and crazy portion sizes, well enough for two meals. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 23rd May 2023 3:45pm)

  • It's one of the only places that does gluten free fish and chips in Glasgow (as far as I'm aware.) Never quite been able to bring myself to try it even so! by tragicworldrecord (Wed 24th May 2023 8:41pm)
  • Consider Cambuslang maybe? Don't know about motorways but two train stations and good transport links. by tragicworldrecord (Fri 2nd Jun 2023 9:11am)
  • I admittedly don't live in the neighborhood but I live nearby and go past the cafe all the time. Never once saw it open. by tragicworldrecord (Wed 7th Jun 2023 11:29am)

  • I saw this during househunting recently and kept going back to it for days, out of shock at the sheer gall. Shower in a fucking cupboard indeed. by tragicworldrecord (Thu 22nd Jun 2023 3:11pm)

  • No, because I'm terrified, but I do have basically unused size 7 women's roller skates if anyone wants them! I was going to donate them but happy to give away instead. They're black with pink laces and pinkish wheels. by tragicworldrecord (Sun 9th Jul 2023 1:17am)
  • God can't stand the twats who elbow you in the back and side because you have a better position than them. Not my fucking problem you were later than me. I'm a shortarse and hardly blocking your view. by tragicworldrecord (Tue 8th Aug 2023 9:48pm)
  • I really hope you come! Something important to consider: American colleges/universities grade very differently to the UK. If you get a 70 / 100 here on an assignment, that is a *fantastic* grade. Don't be disappointed by it and adjust your expectations on marks! by tragicworldrecord (Thu 10th Aug 2023 9:19am)
