There are still restrictions in place on dental practices and so they’re still stretched so existing patients will get priority - I don’t think many practices will be taking on nhs patients right now due to the way the funding is being done - dentists aren’t paid like the rest of the medical profession and rely on the income from the treatment they carry out and with the nhs funding the way it is a lot of practices are just trying to stay afloat by ACBT94 (Wed 18th Aug 2021 1:43pm)

It’s not the fault of the dentist though, it’s the fault of the government and the way dentistry is funded - the dentist isn’t trying to rip you off, but they need to make a living as well - if you had to choose in whatever job you do - do one task and get paid or do another task and basically work for an hour for nothing I’m fairly sure I know how you’d choose - this is what it boils down to at the minute but this isn’t made obvious to the public by ACBT94 (Wed 18th Aug 2021 4:33pm)

I was in a flat in govanhill for a day a few years ago, was meant to be there for a couple of months while waiting for my own place - but as I say, stayed 1 day, was horrible, seen what seemed like a drug deal outside, people shouting and arguing in the streets and then the police arrived asking about an incident in the tenenment were I was supposed to be staying - didn’t even stay the night, for me it’s one of the most deprived and troubled areas in the city - just my 2 cents by ACBT94 (Sun 12th Feb 2023 7:32pm)

That is disgusting, but the health service is a joke, I’m a dentist with about 6 years and I’m about 90k+ but this is after moving to working 3 days privately and 2 days mixed and private- on health service alone it would be a lot less - moneys not everything but for the effort the training takes and as you say getting the soul sucked out of you a decent wage is the only thing that makes it worth it at times - the main bonus I have is regular working hours - and people wonder why the NHS is gubbed by ACBT94 (Sun 14th May 2023 3:47pm)
