  • Solid advice mate 💪 thanks a lot! I'll give it a look over then since it is more in my price range by Andrew_1872 (Mon 29th Jun 2020 9:59pm)
  • A flatshare is something I didn't consider! I'll take some time to think about this too so thanks for the advice man 👌 I'm gonna just Google this but is there any site you'd recommend in particular or will any of them do? by Andrew_1872 (Mon 29th Jun 2020 9:57pm)
  • Yeah, howwood seems really nice so I hope I can find something! Thanks for advice in Johnstone though because Im not familiar with the area. I was actually loosely considering something on high street so good to know 🙏 by Andrew_1872 (Tue 30th Jun 2020 11:34am)
  • Thanks a lot man. I'll check it out💪 by Andrew_1872 (Tue 30th Jun 2020 11:32am)
  • Thanks man! Yeah that's a slight concern if it's *too* quiet you know but the peaceful lifestyle does appeal to me to some degree 😂 by Andrew_1872 (Tue 30th Jun 2020 3:48pm)
  • Yeah I'm gonna just look at paisley and the villages on the outskirts. I only need a 1bedroom place so hopefully I can find something when all this madness is over. Thanks a lot for the pointers though 👌 by Andrew_1872 (Tue 30th Jun 2020 3:49pm)
  • I'd be game too mate. I'm hoping to get into more outdoorsy activities myself after this lockdown! I'll try and stay updated on this thread by Andrew_1872 (Sat 11th Jul 2020 3:16pm)
  • Sounds good man. Let me know if you need a hand with anything but truth be told I'm pretty hopeless at this sort of thing myself 😂 by Andrew_1872 (Sat 11th Jul 2020 11:52pm)
  • Oh no, I'll be working then 😭 I'll just have to catch the next one mate. Hope it goes well and you all have a good time! by Andrew_1872 (Wed 15th Jul 2020 8:53pm)
  • Isn't the Strathclyde uni gym only for it's students? I don't think the general public can use it but correct me if I'm wrong by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 1:58pm)
  • Yeah I did but it's difficult to explain. Just looks a mess with loose tiles here and there by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 2:38pm)
  • Damn I was hoping that wasn't the case. My mate told me i might get carpet laid in but I can't hold my breath. Thanks for the advice anyways bro by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 2:38pm)
  • I've not moved in yet so I'm not best placed to answer but as far as I'm aware, they would only cover rent if you get housing benefit. You might be able to apply for a tax discount or something but WiFi and gas etc you'll need to pay I think by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 5:44pm)
  • I'll look into it mate! Thanks for the advice! by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 5:48pm)
  • Didn't think about that so that was perfect advice! Legend! by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 5:47pm)
  • That's useful to know! I'll ask the housing officer tomorrow so thanks a lot! by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 5:46pm)
  • I'll ask the officer tomorrow but I think she said they don't do flooring? I might be wrong though so thanks for the heads up by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 5:46pm)
  • That sounds ideal! Thanks a lot man! by Andrew_1872 (Sun 18th Oct 2020 5:45pm)
  • Fantastic advice mate! Really appreciate the good resources cause they'll be a great help! by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 12:39am)
  • I don't know what you mean by section 5 man sorry. I just put in a notice of interest on a property online and a housing officer calls you back if you're successful. It's the normal housing list but you need to make the applications yourself by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 12:58am)
  • I think that only runs in Aberdeen but thanks for the shout anyways! It would have been ideal if it ran here! by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 12:57am)
  • Nah no worries man. I dunno why people were downvoting cause it doesn't bother me. If you have any other questions just let me know. It's a stressful time for everyone so take as much help as you can get mate. Ill hopefully be in a better position to answer any queries you have down the line. by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 1:04am)
  • Hey man, sorry but I don't think they will give you somewhere so quickly out of the blue. You need to put in an application first online and then once it's accepted you get access to an online portal where you can note interest on properties you like. It will take a while depending on your circumstance. Single parents, families, homeless and just anyone whose been waiting a while will get priority if you haven't put an application in. Maybe you can try and claim homelessness? Not sure how it works but it's your best shout to get a council gaff quickly if you need it. Good luck though mate by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 1:02am)
  • Sounds smashing haha. If I can get a wee cushty place going like yours then I'll be happy. by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 1:06am)
  • Ah your right! My bad man. Well then I think it comes down to what you thinks easiest for you? Glasgow club also has clubs and sports you can join but it might be with older people so age group is another consideration. If you don't mind travelling to Strathclyde gym everytime you want to workout then go for that. The facilities are brand new and should be better/modern. If you're a student then it's cheaper too. Otherwise, Glasgow club is the better choice as there's more options so you'd be more likely to go. It's easier to park and might not be as busy as Strathclyde by Andrew_1872 (Mon 19th Oct 2020 2:57am)
  • Ah ok. Yeah homeless get priority so if you are looking for a place quickly then I'd say its the fastest route to go. I don't know too much about it but my mate got a house thought homeless. He was put in a flat initially but he got rehoused to somewhere else afterwards. If you're looking then good luck mate! by Andrew_1872 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 3:43pm)
  • Ah you're right! It's for vulnerable citizens though so I'd be a massive knob to be taking out of that fund 😂 but I appreciate the help man! I'm sure someone will see this and find it useful! by Andrew_1872 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 3:40pm)
  • They haven't told me much at all. They just said that they'll give me the keys at some point and didn't really elaborate. I think because it's a high flat I was looking at they probably have thousands of tenants. But I'll ask them when I get the keys so thanks for the guidance mate! I never know what to ask normally haha by Andrew_1872 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 3:48pm)
  • They look great! I'll definitely give them a ring if I can't get nothing else. Thanks man! by Andrew_1872 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 3:46pm)
  • Ah no luck man. But honestly there's nothing wrong with just putting your name on the list and seeing what happens? As you say I think your chances are slim but you never know? The fact that you don't have a home right now might be in your favour and it's all done online if you don't want to speak to them direct? by Andrew_1872 (Tue 20th Oct 2020 3:45pm)
  • Top advice mate. I've still not received the keys yet but I'm not looking forward to all the work. Still, couldn't have get better guidance from the gha themselves 😂 by Andrew_1872 (Sat 24th Oct 2020 1:12pm)
  • Truthfully it depends on where you are in the city? I would say you can find great takeaway spots almost anywhere so its probably not worth driving 20+ mins on the recommendation of someone else? by Andrew_1872 (Wed 18th Nov 2020 3:52pm)
  • I'm not trying to say people have given you bad advice as of yet but Glasgow is not being filled with bodies every night... If you feel uncomfortable living where you stay then you should move if you have the means to. Otherwise, you should take precautions to protect yourself and keep safe. Try to avoid areas that you don't know well and keep to places with people about. Don't wear really fancy clothing that stick out and wear comfortable clothing. Don't be dismissive to beggars but look them firmly in the eye and say sorry but no. Always keep walking too. The way some people have been talking about the homeless is nothing short of disgraceful. Yes there are a lot more drugs/alcoholism but that's always been the case in Glasgow. Most of the time they won't bother you even though they are annoying af and can be intimidating. Don't let people make you feel like you can't be happy where you are. You need to determine for yourself whether or not moving will improve your standard of life. I don't know your experiences but I live near city centre and it's not perfect. However, it doesn't affect my every waking moment and being occasionally inconvenienced by those in a tough situation is a grievance I've come to accept. by Andrew_1872 (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 5:50am)
  • I've never had a bad meal out of that knightswood inn next to the knightswood pond. Their salt and pepper stuff is honestly the best I've ever tried by Andrew_1872 (Thu 31st Dec 2020 8:42am)
  • Been years since I played aswell but I've become a fat bastard during lockdown so count me in if you need anymore 😂 by Andrew_1872 (Thu 20th May 2021 2:10pm)
  • I'll check it out so thanks! I think they specifically do German cars tho and I'm running about in a Corsa so I don't fit their target market. by Andrew_1872 (Tue 25th May 2021 2:11pm)
  • By not moved much I mean compared to my daily commute 😅 wasn't clear in my post so my bad but I still have been out driving at least 3 times a week running errands. Point being really was the car has definitely not been damaged since the last mot but now the tpms is enough to fail, even though the issue was brought up before but I was told it wasn't a big deal last year... Just felt like they were trying to scrounge every penny off me but that's my view I guess by Andrew_1872 (Tue 25th May 2021 2:09pm)
  • Damn bro. Looks like you need to find a new garage yourself. Depends on the car I suppose but fitted in and programmed, 250 per tyre pressure sensor is steep? If your happy with the service then it's worth it tho by Andrew_1872 (Tue 25th May 2021 2:16pm)
  • Not sure if it's what you're looking for exactly but the lighthouse just off Buchanan Street has a tower with a sort of observation deck at the top where you can take pretty nice photos. Not exactly a rooftop but will open air if you haven't already been up by Andrew_1872 (Wed 16th Jun 2021 10:45pm)
  • What sport are you into? You could join local clubs or search up on FB to see if there are any groups which suit your interests. You can always drop us a message and we can find something to do aswell since I'm needing to get out more after this whole lockdown by Andrew_1872 (Fri 18th Jun 2021 5:25pm)
  • If these are still going then I'll take them? I'll pm you after I confirm a few things? by Andrew_1872 (Mon 28th Jun 2021 12:56pm)
