That's true. The estate agent said flats in a couple of ares was taking longer but that's probably because the demand atm is for family homes.

Yeah. I was just looking forward to moving . We were did discuss renting. Which I'm fine with. I just don't want to have to pull the kids in and out of school unnecessarily. Might just wait it out. I think we'll just continue to look and offer what we can and hopefully it calms down a bit. I'm just really astonished at some places going 25% above the valuation.

Yeah I've seen some places go for 25% over really crazy. I wouldn't do it. I'm really astonished actually, it's annoying for me but I feel worse for people who need to move.

Yeah. I'm just being impatient. I hate renting and I want to move before the independence referendum in case it goes independent. But we have options, we can keep renting here, get lucky and buy, move out a bit, look smaller and pay over HR, or just move up and rent. It's absolutely nuts right now. I feel bad for people who don't have much of a choice.

Yeah some estate agents have said in general they're going around 10% over depending on the area.

Jesus. Where was she looking at? My friend stopped looking for now cause its crazy. We're looking at some proper doer uppers as there's not as much interest and I don't mind doing it up, they're not selling * as fast* but I dunno how much over they're going for.

I think it's worth it rather than paying hand over fist over the HR. It's cheaper and we can get settled somewhere. It's a bit harder with kids cause I don't want to pull them in and out of schools but it might not be helped. Ah well. It'll be nice to go back.

Yeah. I'm having a look at rentals too but not much is coming up, we might end up staying down here a bit longer. Or rethink Glasgow for now. Who knows maybe it's peak atm and it'll start slowing down.

Wow. I think we're starting to think to move out a bit. To east Kilbride or Paisley. I'm not too keen on the idea as I don't know the areas very well, I was keen on East Renfrew as I had a bf from Clarkston so I knew it was nice. And I knew newton mearns was nice but it just doesn't seem possible with people who apparently have access to £100k

Thanks! Do you know the deal with new builds? Are they more straight forward or would we be fighting with people paying over HV as well?

Cool. I think we're looking at new builds now out of interest. I dunno if the buying process is different though

I think it might have just been the particular area I was looking at. My friend stopped looking at flats in Partick this year cause flats are selling like crazy over there. Whereas we're looking at Newton mearns for schools, so probably people looking there are fighting for family homes a bit more, although I'm sure flats were selling quickly too it could have even just been the trend for them last two weeks cause its chaos right now. Probably people are frustrated at the property market atm so they're just down voting.

Thank you! I'll have a look. I'm a bit skeptical of new builds but I'm sure they're not all bad.

Thank you that's very kind! I dont really mind where I am as long as we can get the kids into a nice school with other friendly kids.

I've heard some horrific stories about new builds here, which is why I'd rather avoid. Not that an older house is perfect but you tend to understand what you're getting.

Hey. I know this is old, but did you have to pay over in Paisley? We're looking in Ralston/Hawkhead after getting burned but I'm expecting more of the same. I'm almost at my wits end, I've been wanting to move back for years and now we finally got a good deposit together by scrimping and it's not enough.

I think 5% is just the cost of doing business atm as shit as it is. Just sick of putting down 10% more and still getting burned. Also we live in London so it's not cheap to keep coming up, did you get outbid a lot in Paisley? Or was it not as bad? Sorry for all the questions, just can't get my head around it, I won't ask you where you bought as its a bit personal. We might put in offers on places a bit further away from train the station as they don't seem to be snapped up as fast. Congratulations on the baby. Nightmare moving and being pregnant/having a baby. Our youngest is one, so it's hard to get everything together when doing something like looking for a house/mortgage.

Just a three or four bed family home. Detached or semi detached, half decent garden hopefully. Don't want to be too far away from a train station if that can be helped. I'll probably just do viewings once a month or something and put in an offer or two at what we like based on that and see if it sticks. Not so easy to get out of tenancy agreements in England though, so if I don't get anything next month I'll take a break from it. Thanks for the tips! We have a couple of friends in Paisley who recommended it and it seems pretty good, we used to live in Stirling, so we were a bit spoiled for shops but it had a few rough areas too, like everywhere.

That's much appreciated. If we do manage to get somewhere I owe you a drink for all the advice!

I think that's a great idea. We used to have knitting groups in pubs. Just different places to go and different things that don't feel exclusive and are free or low cost.

I've seen the ones marching when I lived in Stirling. A good breeze would end a lot of it, if they haven't given each other Covid yet. It seems like it's dying off and only idiots care about it (although there's a fair amount of idiots).

I also recommend Paisley. Really nice town, especially in some areas. The centre isn't that amazing but it's 10 minutes on the train to Glasgow. I'm convincing friends to try and buy here cause glasgow expensive but it's quite reasonable here.

People love to shit on Paisley but it's no worse than Glasgow. I've lived in both and Paisley's is even friendlier if anything. There's no real reason to go there though unless you live there, unlike Glasgow.

We moved to Paisley after we had kids and it's lovely here, just so nice and everyone is considerate of children. The high street isn't great but you can get the train to Glasgow central in 10 minutes and they have all the big box stores just a short walk from the High Street if you need. We're close to loads of good beaches and loch lomond. I liked Glasgow as a young single person but Paisley is just so nice and welcoming.

They need people out in plain clothes just fining people. I think they should just have their dog shot if caught but apparently that's "unreasonable"

How can you tell what it sells for? I need to do research for when we look to move on.

So we live in Paisley and it's really nice. There's a few areas to stay clear from but most of the town is really friendly, loads of green space, really close to ammenties. The buses are better than glasgow buses, loads of trains, quite close to the seaside. I love it here, we want to move a bit closer to glasgow next like maybe Ralston but Paisley is really nice. We got a three bed house it's 20 minutes walk from the town centre for £160k, a nice quiet cul de sac, garden, near the braes.

There's Sma' Shot day in Paisley. Where there's a parade celebrating the triumph of the weavers over the "corks". Fascinating stuff.

You might as well just say "are dickheads the problem?"... Yes. There's lots of them about, just this brand are male and take their problems out on women. I don't think it's fair to reduce all men to the likes of Tate and incels.
