  • Omg they are obsessed with parking and suspicious characters, its just the absolute puts of middle class window twitching by FoxNo5724 (Sat 15th Jan 2022 10:18am)
  • Hey depends where you are based, I'm linked in with the South side drug and alcohol recovery group myself. Addaction operate in different locations throughout the city also. I have a support worker and we meet once a week. Your first step should be contacting your gp. If thr drinking is daily you need to stop with medical supervision because cold turkey is incredibly dangerous and can result in death. You can also get medication to help with the cravings. It's am awful disease to have to live with but we'll done you for getting help. It will get better I promise by FoxNo5724 (Mon 7th Mar 2022 7:17pm)
  • I work with a charity specifically for alcoholism but it's like 15 minutes twice a month that I speak to someone from there. Apart from that I have a few friends who I trust and feel supported by, but I'm very conscious of not just dumping my stuff on them or asking for more than they have capacity for by FoxNo5724 (Mon 7th Mar 2022 8:33pm)
  • I'm not even sure what there is. I struggle with basic things like shopping and cooking and cleaning and I feel so overwhelmed. But mostly I think I just need a space to vent by FoxNo5724 (Mon 7th Mar 2022 9:03pm)

  • I never let them in. My buzzer can't turn off, I asked my landlord for one with a mute option and he said no. Really wish I could move but money is too tight for a deposit and moving costs and the market is competitive. Have had my name on the local housing association list for ages now by FoxNo5724 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 6:21pm)
  • Thanks, gonna look this up! Not a housing association, a private let and I think their landlord owns a few of the flats in the building and is dodgy as far as I can tell. Factors don't get involved as apparently no one in the building pays their fees. Have said all this to my letting agents who have been exceptionally useless by FoxNo5724 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 6:27pm)
  • ?? They stop talking and stare at me when I walk past. I don't think it's cause I'm hot lol, it's just intimidating by FoxNo5724 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 10:23pm)
  • I actually left a "package" full of cat shit in the close on Christmas day which got stolen in like 10 minutes. A Christmas miracle by FoxNo5724 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 10:43pm)
  • We have gotten letters through from the council that I assume are for everyone in the building saying about the rubbish but because there's no evidence it is who it is idk if there's much else to be done by FoxNo5724 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 10:49pm)

  • Yeah true. They just buzz all the doors as far as i can tell. I have started just opening my door and telling them to piss off but they do not care and keep buzzing. by FoxNo5724 (Fri 11th Mar 2022 10:55pm)

  • Lol chill out you baby. Conversations about race/nationality are not useful. Selfish entitled people come from all over and if someone's being an arsehole they're not just gonna magically stop being an arsehole just because they Scottish. Not every buzzer is the same, my does not have an off button. I'm looking for constructive ways to deal with this specific issue, not looking to start hate criming entire groups by FoxNo5724 (Sat 12th Mar 2022 8:40am)

  • Thank you. Yes for me it's not urgent so I don't mind the wait. Maybe in a year or two that will change. by FoxNo5724 (Tue 5th Apr 2022 10:58am)
  • Sorry but it's something I want and I don't want to get into a big discussion justifying something which is personal to me. If you are interested you can read up more about non-binary and transmasc non binary people, but the only people I'm willing to discuss this with beyond the practicalities of how to access this service are others trans people or professionals. Hope you understand. I'm also likely older than you so please don't patronise me. by FoxNo5724 (Tue 5th Apr 2022 8:10pm)
  • Ok thanks, but I specifically said this is not up for debate and I did not ask for your perspective by FoxNo5724 (Tue 5th Apr 2022 8:55pm)
  • Second this!! They will have someone evaluate the situation and normally will result in a board meeting involving anyone responsible for her care which could include neighbours who have witnessed her behaviour https://www.glasgow.gov.uk/article/24198/Adult-Protection-Referral---AP1 by FoxNo5724 (Thu 7th Apr 2022 4:31pm)

  • Tbh this post makes me pretty uncomfortable. Don't like making fun of homeless people. Their issues are much more complex than just needing material goods and people get them stuff to feel good about themselves instead of responding to what they want/need. Most of these people behave the way they because they are deeply traumatised/other mental health/addiction stuff and people often speak about them in ways that are extremely dehumanising. Homeless people can be well dressed, they get clothes donations and they are entitled to dignity. by FoxNo5724 (Wed 20th Apr 2022 9:06am)
  • It could be real, sometimes they buy a dent and can't find who is legally responsible so will pin the debt on anyone. Contact them or an advice service like cab and get it looked into by FoxNo5724 (Thu 21st Apr 2022 1:45pm)
  • Would love to know this also by FoxNo5724 (Fri 22nd Apr 2022 4:21pm)
  • Each cab is different but you need to go to the one most local to you. If they're not answering you could try email. Generally they don't have a direct line and you need to leave your details and wait for them to call you back. If its urgent say so and they will prioritise you. by FoxNo5724 (Wed 27th Apr 2022 7:53pm)
  • Have had multiple issues with the 75 since moving out this way. Was better when I lived more central so I was on multiple routes but now i find the service basically unusable. But it's not just that, it's the cost and the fact that there are so many different companies operating that aren't linked in any way by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 9:31am)
  • Yesterday there were people who had been waiting an hour and a half to get to Castlemilk- totally unacceptable by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 9:48am)
  • Edinburgh has public ownership and excellent public transport. A big issue here is that a lot of routes that ARE necessary are not profitable. Also the cost of a bus ticket here compared to Edinburgh is outrageous. The private bus companies in Glasgow are cowboys, I dream of the day when we have our own fully linked up affordable publicly owned transport system by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 9:46am)
  • You specifically made an argument against public ownership and are now back tracking. No one is arguing for a public take over of first bus - just a publicly owned bus service that serves the people using it by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 9:58am)
  • I've never taken it out on a driver? Dunno where you got that from my post. I support workers, not their fault the company they work for are utter shite by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 10:38am)
  • Aye, seen this carry on yesterday when the bus finally arrived. The poor lads probably had it the entire route. The staff are probably being fucked over just as much if not more than the passengers by first bus. by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 10:43am)
  • Last week I waited 45 minutes on a 75 with them just disappearing off the screen so it's not a one off. I ended up going home and missing the class I was meant to go to. I'd say I take the bus once a week max and since moving this way I've never not had an issue by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 10:47am)
  • Its so bad, the amount of times I've had to get taxis. And sometimes you're even waiting am hour for a taxi. This is a major city, no excuses by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 12:27pm)
  • No they definitely should not be less frequent, this would be going backwards by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 12:26pm)
  • Lol not the best solution by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 12:38pm)
  • I'm not planning on getting a car anytime soon, with insurance, fuel and servicing it's cheaper to get taxis the odd time I can't use the bike. Plus, I'm really not looking for an individual solution for myself, I just want to organise/fight for better public transport. by FoxNo5724 (Sat 18th Jun 2022 7:23pm)
  • Yeah but having the app isn't going to get you home any faster when there's only one bus you can take by FoxNo5724 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 4:19am)
  • That's not true, we are legislated to be at net 0 by 2030 which is actually a pretty huge incentive to drastically change things. I doubt the price of fuel will be going down any time soon and cars using petrol and diesel will be increasing restricted meaning less car users in general by FoxNo5724 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 4:25am)
  • I'm confused what kinda flats you are living in, the council would just take the bins from the back in any flats I've ever heard of by FoxNo5724 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 10:04pm)
  • Yeah same in most flats. In my old building they just buzzed and got let in and took them out by FoxNo5724 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 10:16pm)
  • Are you outside of the gcc area? I worked in supported accommodation in the East end and they did it there and they definitely do it on the Southside. Have honestly never heard of anyone having this issue before by FoxNo5724 (Sun 19th Jun 2022 10:30pm)

  • Thanks, mostly concerned about my health from second hand smoke and if I need to do something to protect myself. Weirdly they also smoke tobacco but my house never smells like fags. Definitely would not involve landlords or police, I'm not a snitch haha by FoxNo5724 (Sun 26th Jun 2022 10:29am)

  • Thanks! The skirting boards are off in somme places so sorting that out might work? by FoxNo5724 (Sun 26th Jun 2022 11:20am)
  • I'm just looking for practical solutions. They're nice people, I'm not calling the police on them. I don't want them to have to change their behaviours, because in my mind they are not doing anything wrong. Someone else was saying about not open the windows but not me by FoxNo5724 (Sun 26th Jun 2022 11:36am)

  • Just chill, I'm sure if he had a better way to make money he would be doing that instead by FoxNo5724 (Sat 16th Jul 2022 7:22pm)
  • Hey, I'm so sorry you are going through this. Was going through something similar last year and I'm still here. If you are in the south side of the city you can self refer to the wellbeing services on Florence St. I spoke to a psychologist from there who referred me to the more intensive services and the waiting list was long but when the help finally arrived I've managed to become much more stable. The nhs 111 mental health services are great, they were the kindest to me out of all the professionals I dealt with before working with the psychologist. I'd really recommend contacting them to chat. Lifelink counselling is also free and you can self refer. Also speak to your gp - meds are not for everyone but for me they are the reason I am still here. Other things that have helped me is is sport, sobriety, friends and books. Playing football is the only time I'm not worrying about something! You are not alone. Its a dark place to be but things will get better. If you need to chat hmu. X by FoxNo5724 (Thu 15th Sep 2022 8:44pm)
  • I'd be concerned I'd be taking from people more in need than myself. I can totally afford to eat but it's just something I'd like to cut back on so I can still afford to socialise and play sports by FoxNo5724 (Fri 18th Nov 2022 10:03am)
  • Hahaha this is so funny. I've had 2 posh English people mentioning anglophobia to me here. Absolutely at it. Gey a grip would ya, you're not some persecuted minority ffs by FoxNo5724 (Sun 20th Nov 2022 9:49am)

  • The amount of people who overtake me at full speed with only inches of spaces is insane. I now usually try to take up the full lane of traffic in places I know people are likely to drive more aggressively. I dont want to hold up traffic but I care more about not getting run over by FoxNo5724 (Wed 15th Nov 2023 9:08pm)
  • You can try the mission House when they do the free meals but tbh ive worked in homeless services and would be very wary of anyone looking for a service user so I don't think you will get far by FoxNo5724 (Sun 26th Nov 2023 4:17pm)
  • I always get confused here by FoxNo5724 (Sun 26th Nov 2023 4:28pm)
  • It depends on his situation tbh. Some people are in night shetlers or bnbs, lots of people are in supported accommodation which would be their own flat/room within a building where they could come and go as they please. I'd guess he's there. But some people have behavioural issues, or be victims of violence and bullying, or can't tolerate the level of supervision and surveillance that being in the system involves so will rough sleep or sofa surf. There's also people in flats with support workers coming to visit them a few times a week, but this would be the step after being in supported accommodation by FoxNo5724 (Sun 26th Nov 2023 4:34pm)
