  • What do people not get about this pandemic? Stay at home! by J_T_C_R (Sat 20th Jun 2020 8:32am)
  • It’s sickening - people who are exempt on GENUINE medical grounds should have some form of GP note. I’ve got asthma but I’d rather wear a mask than risk being ventilated. The wallopers who refuse need to be fined heavily to ensure compliance. by J_T_C_R (Thu 2nd Jul 2020 1:39pm)

  • Boteco do Brasil is on Uber Eats - I stay in the east end and they delivered here last week. Maybe not fancy enough but the food was pretty good. by J_T_C_R (Tue 8th Sep 2020 2:44pm)
  • Thanks. Perhaps I was a bit stupid to expect it to be socially distant. However I did believe that Itison would actually put into place the measures that they described on their website. by J_T_C_R (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 7:07am)
  • I can totally understand that question. I’ve been to the Chinese Lanterns at Edinburgh Zoo a few times and the displays are so intricate and detailed. Previously light shows have always had a story attached to them so you can follow the journey, I’m quite geeky like that! by J_T_C_R (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 9:00am)
  • Given that it was advertised as reduced capacity and socially distanced I made a judgment, clearly now the wrong one, to attend based on their advertising and promises. by J_T_C_R (Tue 3rd Nov 2020 6:22pm)
  • More than justified to have called the polis on your flatmate. Can you stay with your partner for a while? Never know what these COVID-Marys have brought into your living space. by J_T_C_R (Fri 1st Jan 2021 10:37am)
  • I stay in the Athletes’ Village and that is District Heating only. This system supplies heating and hot water. Like you I was a bit worried about it and asked loads of questions because it was so unknown at the time. I’ve not had many problems. In the almost 6 years I’ve been here the hot water has only gone off once or twice and even then for a limited period of time. It wasn’t a major issue. In terms of cost - I’ve found it significantly cheaper than my previous house but that could also be that the house is more energy efficient. I’m about £30-40 a month for heating and hot water - annoyingly most of this charge isn’t usage but a service fee - I don’t object to paying a standing charge but I wouldn’t have chosen to take out a service plan on such a new system had it been an individual boiler. Someone from the company services the Heat Unit in the house every so often. For issues with the heat unit you have to phone the company but it should be free because of the service fee. Let me know if you have any other questions. by J_T_C_R (Thu 28th Jan 2021 8:16am)
  • The provider is Vital Energi, I could be wrong but I think the contract is on behalf of Glasgow City Council. I had to have a Heat Agreement signed before I was allowed to conclude the purchase of the property. I’ve been here since August 2015 and I’ve not had any additional charges at all - there was an issue with a loose connector when I moved in but Vital repaired that at no charge. I’m not 100% sure what would happen if there was a massive fault with the connection - I THINK that the maintenance fee would cover that. They also don’t service anything outside of the heat unit in the house - radiator pipes etc aren’t covered. There is a usage charge, a standing charge and a maintenance fee. I pay my bill every three months, I think that’s standard with Vital but again could be wrong, the highest my bill (only me at home) has been about £110. There’s an electronic meter in the Heating Box which sends all the meter readings. I know some people have a pay as you go meter and haven’t had such a smooth experience - the Facebook page “Dalmarnock Matters” sometimes had people complaining on it about Vital. I’ve not had any real cause for complaint with Vital. My bills are lower than my previous property but that could also be because I hardly have the heating on - the house is very warm most of the time. There’s been a couple of times when the hot water has failed for a few hours at a time - the longest was overnight. Meant a cold shower but on the whole I’ve been pleased. A few people who stayed in the Village have moved over to Riverside. Hope that’s answered a few things - let me know if there’s anything else. by J_T_C_R (Thu 28th Jan 2021 9:07pm)
