  • Go Kelvinhaugh. When you're in Murano you're stuck there; there's no escape. But if you're in Kelvinhaugh, you can still go to Murano parties and leave at the end of them. by Jafbuya (Tue 16th Apr 2019 1:25am)

  • £35 non member, £25 member for the 5 1 hour sessions - although it typically went on much longer than 1 hour. I went to the last block they did and had a good time. Small groups and was about a 50/50 gender split although this just meant sometimes I was against people half my weight and about a foot shorter than me, but most of the time I was sorted to someone more my size. They do a 2 hour BJJ workshop with Dean Reilly (?) every now and then for £12 members, I'd recommend that too if you're not willing to commit and just want a one off. The atmosphere in both of the classes was really friendly and all the sparring was very casual. by Jafbuya (Sat 20th Apr 2019 9:21pm)

  • Not only is the scale very misleading, but it fails to recognise that in 2017 SNP held Glasgow North by only 1000 votes at 37.6%, Labour close behind at 34.5% and with Conservatives nowhere to be seen at just 14.7%, instead showing average Scottish results. by Jafbuya (Thu 5th Dec 2019 11:59am)

  • There's nothing to discuss here, this is a non-argument. The Tories are deliberately misleading people in my constituency with their propaganda; end of discussion. by Jafbuya (Thu 5th Dec 2019 3:15pm)
  • Who are you quoting? It's not me. If anyone running for public office put manipulated graphs through my letter box I'd complain about it. The Tories were so audacious as to not even be subtle about it - so I'm going to call it out. I shouldn't have to recreate graphs that they peddle to show them on a true scale. This isn't a thread for policy discussion - it's a thread for calling out liars and their supporters. Feel free to append the shite leaflets you've gotten, or just continue to throw the toys out of the pram because the bad reddit boys were nasty about the tories :(((( by Jafbuya (Thu 5th Dec 2019 3:47pm)

  • When an friend of mine first moved to Glasgow from Texas all of her hair started to fall out. She visited her GP (for free) she was diagnosed with a massive vitamin (D) issue. She has since recovered with a full head of hair. Although it remains: Glasgow is so cloudy that it might make your hair fall out, but you will be diagnosed and treated for free. by Jafbuya (Tue 3rd Mar 2020 3:13pm)
  • My "lease" specifies strict days on which the lease should commence and terminate. I do understand this isn't how it's supposed to work, but my question is really: is it okay to continue to turn a blind eye to this. by Jafbuya (Sun 10th May 2020 11:11pm)
  • My thinking was similar about the deposit, although it strikes me as borderline blackmail. Problem is, effectively nothing here is by the book so I'm really not sure how else I could get fucked. by Jafbuya (Sun 10th May 2020 11:23pm)

  • I have friends who actually live directly across the street from him and I have a few times inadvertently glimpsed into his flat (while he has all the lights on and blinds open at night), his internal decor is just as eccentric as his outfit choices. • Hyndland is definitely not the "main student / party area". Dowanhill may be more so, depends on what streets draw the line with Partick. In descending order of student-partying: Hillhead, Woodlands, Partick, Kelvinhaugh, North Kelvinside. by Jafbuya (Tue 20th Apr 2021 2:26pm)

  • DELETED Pretty on par for 4/5 yoe at least in tech. Not a huge stretch. by Jafbuya (Thu 19th May 2022 1:33pm)
  • 60ish is the upper bound for tech associates at the 'other JP' (so it stands JP is probably similar). Associates are people with 0.5-5 YoE, any more experience than that and you would be looking at VP which would will pay more than 60, even in Glasgow. by Jafbuya (Thu 19th May 2022 5:21pm)
  • Absolute copium by Jafbuya (Thu 19th May 2022 5:37pm)
  • Please read my post a bit more carefully. I never said .5 YoE nets you 60k. 60k is approximately the upper bound of associate tech employees. Associate tech employees make in the range of 40 (lower bound, someone with 0.5 years) to 60 (upper bound, someone with 4/5+ depending on education). The internal promotion scheme is 5/4/3 YoE from associate to VP with BSc/MSc/PhD. Anything above significantly 5 YoE you're probably looking at VP positions or above. I know this because I have literally received employment contracts from banks in Glasgow, as well as had close friends employed by the banks from where I didn't, as well as the fact that the average software salaries are pretty easily available online lol. On top of this, this is all literally standard procedure as explained by the banks, and ratified to me by actual veteran employees during my time employed there. There is literally 0 speculation. That said, and fwiw: I left Glasgow finance tech for greener pastures, because frankly they underpay their devs. by Jafbuya (Fri 20th May 2022 1:31am)
