  • Lived on top floor and never had any issues, lived on first floor and ground floor and had the ceiling come down on me twice because of leaks in the pipes of people upstairs. It’s probably worth paying for the extra survey to ensure the roof is intact but so long as you have insurance you’ll be fine. by PepperJacs (Sun 27th Feb 2022 6:28pm)
  • I’d be concerned with that amount of leaks. Sounds like the roof might need replaced which is a big expense plus if there’s not a factors a pain to get everyone to pay their share. by PepperJacs (Mon 28th Feb 2022 7:31am)

  • I offered to take food to someone earlier that was saying they were desperate, read the message and I’ve heard nothing. Clearly not the offer they wanted. by PepperJacs (Wed 16th Mar 2022 4:59pm)
  • If you were truly desperate for food you would. And the fact that they read the message but didn’t even reply makes me suspicious that they only wanted offers of money. I could be wrong but….. by PepperJacs (Thu 17th Mar 2022 1:14pm)

  • The walks shouldn’t be allowed but there is the equivalent on the Celtic “catholic side” still singing IRA songs etc. I’m neutral and think the whole thing is toxic. So proud to be Glaswegian expect for this ugly side to the city. by PepperJacs (Thu 7th Apr 2022 9:57am)
  • I’m a catholic and can speak from direct knowledge of groups that use being a Celtic supporter as a front by PepperJacs (Thu 7th Apr 2022 10:42am)
  • Which was actually my original point. I wasn’t the one that brought up the walks, I was saying that the behaviours on both sides are embarrassing and something I’m ashamed to be associated with as a Glaswegian. by PepperJacs (Thu 7th Apr 2022 1:17pm)
  • I am speaking from experience of having family in Bhoys clubs on the green side who have and do despicable things in the name of football and are proud of it. My family is actually split 50/50 and we have relatives on each side of the line that bigots, as well as close family that see it and a game the way it should be. I 100% disagree with marches being allowed but the problem is bigger than the marches and exists on both sides. by PepperJacs (Thu 7th Apr 2022 1:16pm)
  • I never said there were marches on the green side at any point. I said there were bigots on both sides. Born and bred here since the 70s. by PepperJacs (Thu 7th Apr 2022 3:09pm)

  • It's practice, the most important thing is to slow your speech. We Glasweigians love to talk fast! I had a boss that told me because I said "yous" I'd never be able to be understood in say London - which lets face it was racist, because noone said anything to the guy from India or Ireland abou their accents. So I left the job for a position in London. by PepperJacs (Wed 27th Apr 2022 5:12pm)

  • Overcrowding doesn't really do a lot unless it's severe unfortunately. When I first applied there were 6 adults living in a 3 bedroom house. The best thing to do is look at the areas people don't want to live as a first choice, once you're in the system it's easier to move through it. by PepperJacs (Fri 6th May 2022 1:32pm)
  • The hours would be vastly different too, you could end up with a takeaway open till 3am... once it has a food license you're 1/2 way there. And sadly a lot of independent cafes fold. by PepperJacs (Mon 9th May 2022 1:38pm)

  • To get a decent seamstress that knows how to work with evening dresses etc then you will need at least a first fitting about that much out. Then they will book you in nearer the time to adjust what needs doing. Most will need a a few weeks to do the adjustments (bearing in mind you’re not the only client). Don’t scrimp by going to a normal place that does normal clothes, evening wear is made so differently and the materials are so delicate, but if you go to someone good you will feel like you’ve had a custom made dress by the end of it. by PepperJacs (Sat 21st May 2022 12:53pm)

Also you can register at any dentist that has space but most dentists are pretty swamped just now so you will likely find it could take a couple of months for an appointment wherever you go unless you intend to pay as a private patient. • It’s a weird Glasgow melting pot, you still get a lot of traditional govan folk obviously but it’s actually also a place that a lot of young trendy folk are moving into. It will only getting better with all the waterfront regeneration and bridge getting built so probably an excellent time to buy. I just don’t think I’d make any of the pubs my local. by PepperJacs (Wed 29th Jun 2022 4:19pm)
  • Why would you move here if that’s how you feel? I’m truly insulted by your post. by PepperJacs (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 10:49pm)
  • Well I would suggest dropping the attitude expecting everyone to be murdering scum before you get here. It’s no worse a city than anywhere else. There are bad areas and bad people but for the most part like anywhere trouble finds trouble makers. If you’re a decent person and treat people with respect then Glasgow is a fantastic city with some of the best people you will ever meet. But we are also very proud of our city so coming to it with an attitude that we are the worst of the worst won’t endear your to anyone. by PepperJacs (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 11:21pm)
  • I have a dog that is utterly petrified when they happen and it’s awful to see. I accept organised displays, in fact I love looking at fireworks but I’m all for a fireworks ban. You can medicate the dog for a night but it can be like 2 months of them going off where I live in October and November. by PepperJacs (Sat 2nd Jul 2022 11:51pm)
  • In all honesty unless you are in the emergency at risk type category the chances of getting social housing in Glasgow are pretty slim. For the most part you are pointed to the low to mid market rent properties but these are also really hard to come by. by PepperJacs (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 9:54am)

  • Thank you, no joy with the police. The centre have been great but not much they can do at the moment. Hopefully get something sorted tomorrow because at the moment the key replacement guys can’t do what they need to in the car park because of space and internet and recovery vehicles can’t get it moved without a key as they can’t get the flat bed in because of height restrictions! At the moment my car might need to live there forever!!! by PepperJacs (Sat 30th Jul 2022 9:48pm)
