  • Raith interchange is an absolute shitshow. (the one at Strathclyde park, getting off the M74 from Glasgow) by Q7893 (Thu 29th Apr 2021 5:24pm)
  • Khyber original on Kilmarnock Road for Afghani food. Try their charsi karhai and rogni naan. Eda for Turkish. Slightly above Meze Meze in my opinion. Babs for posh kebabs Ambala on Forth St for desi cuisine including spiced mixed grill by Q7893 (Fri 29th Apr 2022 2:37am)

  • I will arrange bloods for patients just wanting a check up. It can help do a CVD risk score. High BP is a silent killer. I don't tend to bring them in for BMI and waist circumference and I don't arrange an ECG as routine. Medichecks and thriva are decent. Some bloods like kidneys cannot be done by fingerprick testing so you pay for a phlebotomist (I bleed myself). There are more advanced tests medichecks will do like Apo-B and Lp(a) endorsed by the European cardiology society as better indicators for CVD prediction. Pertinent as such a big killer. The caveat is finding someone to interpret these. Like others have said BUPA and nuffield will be adequate for most but don't use some of the latest and advance markers but these may not always influence what you end up doing. London is where its at and other big cities down south. They even do CAC scans. What is it you're mainly concerned about? by Q7893 (Mon 2nd May 2022 7:13am)
  • Don't think you'll find much in Airdrie. Bumble BFF is worth trying also. Making friends as an adult is just difficult. What are your interests/hobbies? by Q7893 (Mon 2nd May 2022 9:10am)
  • When my patients ask me my name at the end of phone consults, they are usually surprised as I imagine they're thinking of a white person behind the phone. Had one patient go 'fair enough' when I told them my name. Our brain fills in gaps and I don't hold them as racist. Born and bred here so of course I'm going to sound scottish! by Q7893 (Wed 21st Sep 2022 8:33am)
  • Doctor here- I would just head to A&E especially if it has gone through the skin. We know a burn is more severe if you lose sensation as that means the nerves have been damaged. There's not really anywhere else 111 can direct you as you're not registered with a GP and they would likely direct you to A&E anyway. by Q7893 (Tue 9th May 2023 9:19am)
  • Agree. GP here. Sudden onset hearing loss, I would have picked up phone to ENT colleagues. by Q7893 (Sat 12th Aug 2023 10:04am)
