  • Not considered Dennistoun (or heard of it till this thread before lol) so thanks! Will add it the top of my list. By any chance do you know any better/other places to look for flatshares than spareroom? by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:22pm)
  • Thnx, v helpful! not as bad as I initially thought tbh if I take the train into central then walk the rest or take the tube. Is there any significant wait for the tube after I arrive on central or are the tube trains fairly constant? by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:44pm)
  • Thanks this is so helpful!!! I'm not a fan of relying on buses for commutes (risk of unreliability in my experience), and have learnt from a past job that the extra free time (even if it's just half an hour) I get from a shorter commute is worth gold to me. So you've helped me realise that maybe Shawlands shouldn't be a high priority for me, so thnx :) by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:41pm)
  • I'll take a look at all the timings of these changes now and see how they add up for me. Wouldn't have known these potential routes without ur comment so thanks! by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:48pm)
  • Thanks for the recommendation! I haven't cycled in a while but this seems like a could way to achieve a couple fo my goals at the same time lol I have a weird fear of cycling on real roads from an incident with a car when I was a kid cycling to school, so might need to get some practice in at home to get confident. by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:46pm)
  • Thanks, seen Partick recommended a few times so will add it to my list! by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:52pm)
  • Oh wow thanks so much for the reminder, I honestly completely forgot about that. I'm not spoilt for choice atm flatmate-wise and I'm very 50/50 at the idea of living alone despite being a touch introverted, so may be forced to move in with a student and take the hit tax wise. by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 10:50pm)
  • Thnx so much, not heard of some of these places so v handy. Have any ideas of places to look for flatshares other than spareroom btw? by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 11:14pm)
  • Haha, you've given me more info on my whether I'll be needing to remote work or not than my employers have - and thanks for that as the flexibility of potentially moving later in August or even September has massively reduced my moving anxiety. My plan is to learn to drive during my first year and then get a car to drive for my second (why oh why I put it off when I was younger and had more free time I do not know lol) That train in to Central then walk/train to Charing Cross doesn't sound as bad as I was lead to believe. I've not had great experience reliability-wise with buses in the past so will most likely avoid them. Will send a PM now. by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 11:25pm)
  • Yes my attraction to living alone is bc I've had some not so great flatmates in the past and it will be nice to find out if they truly were the issue or not! Moving in together with someone and not growing to hate them should definitely be the litmus test for marriage material, I shall keep that in mind :) by RedXabier (Tue 7th Jul 2020 11:56pm)
  • replied! :) by RedXabier (Wed 8th Jul 2020 1:04am)
  • Nice thank you, very helpful! I think I would deffo end up profusely sweatier if I cycled versus taking the train personally though 😂 will deffo give it a go tho by RedXabier (Wed 8th Jul 2020 1:41pm)
  • Yeah you're right, I like my commute being as simple and reliable (and as short) as possible, so will take your advice and get a place where I can get a single subway or train journey to Charing X by RedXabier (Wed 8th Jul 2020 5:36pm)
  • Been meaning to take a look at gumtree, will look now! And thnx for the other advice, been mainly focusing on the Partick area aroundabout - just quite surprised at how high some of the flat prices across the West End are for some very not great / average flats! by RedXabier (Sun 12th Jul 2020 5:15pm)

  • I’m going to Red Hot Chilli Peppers tomorrow, does that only leave taxi pretty much as only option back to central Glasgow? by RedXabier (Fri 1st Jul 2022 12:39am)
  • Thank you! Haha yes it has been, but this will come in handy for when it's (hopefully) rescheduled by RedXabier (Fri 1st Jul 2022 2:27pm)
  • I thought it was a funny idea haha, not sure why people took it seriously (also you never know with the form Liverpool are in right now...) by RedXabier (Tue 27th Sep 2022 5:24pm)
  • He never said it doesn't, but the question at hand was Glasgow's famous reputation for the opposite by RedXabier (Wed 30th Nov 2022 12:55am)
  • Ooo that’s exactly the sorta place I was hoping for, thank you so much! by RedXabier (Sat 15th Jul 2023 6:51pm)

  • https://www.skiddle.com/whats-on/Glasgow/Queens-Park-Arena/Wimbledon-Men39s-Finals/36359629/ I think parking anywhere near the park would be fine but near the arena is preferable, it’s not big enough from what I remember to be an issue by RedXabier (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:52pm)
