  • I think the problem here is she was looking in the west end. If she looks outside the west end property becomes much more affordable, and luckily for her transport in and around Glasgow is excellent. by StoneLaw54 (Fri 16th Aug 2019 7:51pm)
  • Poverty safari is an alright autobiography if you’re looking for a bit of poverty history. Written by some guy from pollock whose now known in music or something. Although he’s a bit two-faced with his account of it. Says he wants to help people out of the poverty circle but a recent talk he did in Glasgow was £15 a ticket. Thought he was against capitalising off the poor but he just made his talk and representation inaccessible to them at that price by StoneLaw54 (Mon 23rd Sep 2019 1:30am)
  • Thats who we're with atm, absolute day light robbery and so inefficient. by StoneLaw54 (Thu 28th Nov 2019 3:48pm)
  • I used to pay £110 a month with James Gibb, it was extortionate and only covered building insurance and admin fees. Took a year but we eventually switched to Thenue housing association and pay £37 a month for same services as James Gibb. by StoneLaw54 (Wed 21st Oct 2020 5:38pm)
  • Hey, If you're doing the American politics module at Glasgow uni I did that course and I feel you're pain, topped only by Chinese politics (100% do not recommend). Theres a nice walk along the John Muir Way that's easy but a really nice day out. Get the train the Helensburgh - walk up past Rennie house - through some woods - along a round for a while - but then you get to another path that takes you up and you walk across the tops of the hills between Helensburgh and Balloch, path takes you all the way to the centre of Balloch and you can train home again by StoneLaw54 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 12:04pm)
  • If you do Global Inequality and International Development or the European Union and International Relations (hard courses but fully recommend both) they really make you realise that the west are really bad people. However, if its Maurizio Carbone thats still teaching the courses he also makes you realise there are people out there trying to do good by the world instead of all the neoliberal war-fuelled horror superpower states are inflicting. If you go on the walk it's pretty much paved the whole way so you shouldn't struggle with trainers. by StoneLaw54 (Sun 1st Nov 2020 10:28pm)

  • Also why do they all say, 'got my own house, own car, good job', like okay good for you, me too. This isn't 1950, I'm not looking for a man to keep me as a wife by StoneLaw54 (Sat 26th Dec 2020 12:55pm)
  • are the campsies out of bounds? not entirely sure where the boundary is, just thought the campsies weren't that far away by StoneLaw54 (Tue 9th Feb 2021 7:34pm)
  • I live in Bridgeton and I love it here. I'm English and posh by Glasgow standards if I'm honest and I've never had a problem in the three years I've been here. Live right on the Green and i'm in bridgeton cross daily for the train. It's not that folk are rough, its just that they aren't financially well off and that comes with certain characteristics. If I had the option of moving to the west end I would turn it down. I like it here. Bridgeton a great location for the centre, and all the restaurants/bars in the East End, especially in the Barras. Public transports good and I've never had a problem with my car. Only takes 12 minutes on the train to get into the west end if you're wanting to go that way, and the motorways two seconds away. Heard the orange order parade once a few years ago, obviously covid stopped the march but even before covid it was only the one I heard. And on game days I've never had any problems either. Think its too far out for parking and walking for most tbh. Was a bit lively this weekend but I've never seen it like that before and it was most of Glasgow too so I don't think thats a real detriment to the place. by StoneLaw54 (Wed 19th May 2021 8:02pm)
