  • Just so I can understand what you're saying here, you hope that the peaceful, non-violent protestors present in my local community today are either raped or hurt because they had the audacity to show support for their neighbours? The men were released and the crowd have dispersed. There were no confrontations and no one was hurt. Police were only involved because it became a public order issue once a large crowd formed. I think I'd rather deport people with your attitude if I'm being honest about it. by TacticalChalky (Thu 13th May 2021 7:05pm)
  • Definitely one of the hellfire & brimstone, plagues of locusts kind as opposed to the coombayah love thy neighbour kind. by TacticalChalky (Thu 13th May 2021 7:44pm)
  • That's fair enough. But as you've just clearly demonstrated, that viewpoint can be put across without wishing normal well-meaning people are shot, raped or hurt. Which is, quite frankly, abhorrent. by TacticalChalky (Thu 13th May 2021 7:42pm)
  • I don't expect you to care what I think, but any reasonable person understands that wishing rape, murder or other such misery on others is abhorrent. You're obviously a very angry person. I hope you find peace one day friend. by TacticalChalky (Thu 13th May 2021 7:47pm)

  • Sorry to hear your GP hasn't been particularly helpful. This is actually something thats fairly common when it comes to their GP's. When the doctor says, 'what do you want me to do about it?' it's usually them trying to determine what kind of help you're after or what you feel may benefit you, although it's often implemented unskillfully and comes across as inconsiderate. I would recommend countering this by asking them to explain what kind of treatments your local community mental health team provides. Depending on availability of services in your area this could vary from medications like SSRI's, talking therapies such as counselling or more intensive psychological treatments such as CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy), EMDR (eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing) or psychotherapies with a consultant. Which ones you will be eligible for will depend on the severity of the symptoms which you can discuss with your doctor. I'm really sorry to hear that you've been feeling so low. Hopefully you can get the help and support you need. by TacticalChalky (Tue 1st Jun 2021 2:11pm)

  • The problem with it is two-fold. Dog breeds go through phases of popularity and XL Bully's really started to become fashionable around 2020 when the lockdown hit. A few years prior, french bulldogs and pugs were everywhere. Breeders (who are generally drug dealers, gangsters or other variations of absolute fucking pond life) catch wind of these trends and overbreed them and mistreat them which results in the dogs having very serious health defects and often extreme issues with their temperament. The people who then buy them are similarly dim bimbos with heads full of silicon who have absolutely no idea how to train and care for a dog so physically demanding and basically get them as a vanity project then act upset when it inevitably eats a toddler because it's poorly cared for and probably in agony due to overbreeding. The whole thing is an absolute cluster fuck of ignorance orchestrated by the worst examples of human pollution you could ever envisage and none of them actively contributing to this micro economy give a rats arse about the welfare of the animals or the people they might be exposing them to. by TacticalChalky (Thu 6th Jul 2023 3:32pm)

  • I'm sorry to break some bad news to you John (because I know you think you've made some profound irrefutable point here that no reader has the sharpness of wit to dare challenge) but the reality is that nobody really gives a shit what you have to say about my car, especially given the original point was about animal welfare and irresponsible breeding. That's the reason you've been downvoted into oblivion and nobody has bothered to reply. I really like that you've come back to edit it though, as if everyone in the responses is vehemently defending Audi ownership rather than just being totally baffled at how you could contribute something so meaningless to this discussion. • Nobody's stopping you putting the offer in but it won't be accepted unless the seller is desperate. Good conveyancing solicitors would advise you against it because they know you'd be wasting your time. Your mortgage will only be approved up to the HR value and you normally need to bid above that in cash to secure it. An example would be HR value 100k w/ 10% deposit. A reasonable/competitive bid would be anywhere between 102.5k-110k so anything you pay over HR comes from your own money too. Say you bid 105k, you'd need your 10% deposit plus the extra 5k over HR. So 15k in cash. This varies depending on the property price e.g., higher HR value will command a larger bid over HR value to be competitive. This is a general rule and obviously subject to market conditions. I think property sales have slowed recently due to mortgage approval rates dipping and high rates of interest. You could get lucky, but it's unlikely. by TacticalChalky (Wed 20th Sep 2023 6:30pm)

  • Most people's number one consideration when deciding where to buy is their budget. The reality is, if you can currently afford to service a mortgage, live comfortably and still put away 1000 in cash a month, you earn enough that money isn't really even a consideration. In 2/3 years time, you would have the equity from the sale of your house plus between 24 and 36000 in cash, depending on how long you wait. With this amount of money as a deposit, you'd be looking at property valued anywhere in the region of 250k-500k depending on what % of your savings you put down on the house. This bit is important: you could finance property in *literally any of the most lucrative areas in the Southside with this*, even with property prices in the area as inflated as they presently are. My suggestion to you would be just Google the most desirable areas to live in the Southside: Rightmove, Zoopla, etc. normally collate some kind of index with desirability ratings for neighbourhoods and write articles on this often. Choose the top 3 or 4 then make a point of spending some time there. Go out for lunch there. Take your dog/go for a walk in the local parks. Maybe have a night out for dinner and drinks with your partner. If you really enjoy one particular area, that's where you look to buy. Let's be real, it would be a colossal gamble and highly irresponsible to sink anywhere between 250k to 500k into a property in an area you've never even set foot in, based on the recommendations of strangers on the internet. by TacticalChalky (Mon 2nd Oct 2023 1:22pm)
  • What a weird, snarky comment. I didn't call anybody stupid. OP *asked the sub* for advice as they admittedly know very little about the areas they're thinking about moving to or their budget. I've lived in Shawlands for years and was simply sharing what I know about buying in the area which they've since said they found valuable. Apologies if that was hurtful to you. Also, it was 5 paragraphs, not 4. by TacticalChalky (Mon 2nd Oct 2023 4:06pm)
  • Exactly what point are you making here? Because it worked out for you, that means it wasn't a gamble? Any risk has a chance of return. It's still a risk, particularly if you don't do any research. by TacticalChalky (Tue 3rd Oct 2023 11:33am)

  • Can you explain the logic behind living in Glasgow only to travel/commute out of the city for work? You pay the high rent and council tax of living in the city limits and are commuting to areas with drastically worse transport links than the city itself. Seems like the worst of both worlds, which is why most folk do the opposite. by TacticalChalky (Tue 21st Nov 2023 3:53pm)
