  • Thanks forthe tips and clarifying some aspects. I'll take a look at the mature student society as well as continue researching the societies I may be interested in. I've seen some changes in a few of them from last year to the present-day, which I suppose has to do with new committee members and a new approach. I'm Spaniard indeed. What I don't like about Spanish communities living abroad is the sense of ghetto you get from them. People barely try to get involved in the city's life and doesn't accept they're in a different scenario bringing basic problems that are the result of not assimilating the local culture. Something basic when you decide to move abroad. I've seen that in all my years in Scotland. I will checkout what events Boteco offers apart from Latin music and dance. Not my cuppa. I feel totally out of place in that environment. As for the pub staff, it's something that I found relatively easy since I moved here. As long as you're nice to them, they're keen on chatting. Will keep that in mind if I start to become a regular at any of them. Cheers! Ch by TerrificLines (Sun 29th Sep 2019 11:44pm)
  • I visited their website months ago. Is it some sort of club where members attend beer-related events? by TerrificLines (Mon 30th Sep 2019 7:23pm)
  • Cheers! I will certainly check it oot. by TerrificLines (Mon 30th Sep 2019 7:23pm)
  • Not my type of events, although I don't rule out joining them for a future CATH session if they ever host them again. by TerrificLines (Mon 30th Sep 2019 7:22pm)
  • That's an excellent suggestion! I read about it and looks like something I would enjoy. Will definitely give it a thought and see if I can fit it in my schedule. Ta! by TerrificLines (Fri 4th Oct 2019 9:04am)
  • I know people that have attended this kind of meetups and I know my reaction would be very similar to theirs. They mainly claimed it felt unnatural and artificial, which made them not get invested in it since not everyone can engage with new people casually. I do see its potential perks, it's simply a very different way of socialising I am not used to. Nothing wrong with it per se. by TerrificLines (Fri 4th Oct 2019 9:09am)
  • Thanks for your message. You really make it sound like a friendly bunch of fellas. However, I don't see myself practising a sport as physical as rugby. Never done it before and doesn't sound very appealing to me. Nonetheless, I've noted it since there's no harm in giving it a shot (hopefully), and I may come over at some point. Thanks! by TerrificLines (Fri 4th Oct 2019 9:06am)
  • Thank you! I understand the idea of socials but at the same time there's something unnatural to them. I may need to give it another thought. by TerrificLines (Wed 4th Dec 2019 11:04am)
  • Meeting girls is not a problem, but not what I understand by building a social circle. They're two different things. Occasionally dating could lead to that, but it's unlikely. Thank you, though! by TerrificLines (Wed 4th Dec 2019 11:09am)
