  • I was just shocked by the amount of people sitting outside in the rain to drink. We sat in a gorgeous warm restaurant and had a lovely (but sadly) booze free meal. Definitely a great step next to normality though 😊 by Villanesque1 (Wed 28th Apr 2021 11:43am)
  • I spent the entire day in the centre yesterday and it was just lovely to see it so busy by Villanesque1 (Wed 28th Apr 2021 11:40am)
  • Came to say the same thing. Utterly gorgeous by Villanesque1 (Tue 6th Jul 2021 10:35am)
  • Second Six by Nico. If you follow them on Instagram they often post any cancellations or last minute tables by Villanesque1 (Sun 8th Aug 2021 8:16pm)
  • Most importantly I’d say, is a coat with a good hood that can be fastened or tied. Do not even try to use an umbrella in Scotland. Our wind and rain will destroy it. A good hood on a coat is the most essential piece of clothing here. πŸ™‚ by Villanesque1 (Mon 9th Aug 2021 11:03am)
  • *vaguely remember seeing this on the news so correct me if I’m wrong* Basically the currency exchange company who run the exchange office & ATMs have filed for administration, which is why the exchange offices and ATMs are closed. by Villanesque1 (Sat 23rd Oct 2021 6:59am)
  • The system said I wasn’t eligible to book mine yet, but I rang the hotline to have a chat with them and they offered me a booster appointment over the phone. (I didn’t have any number she just asked me all my details. Was surprisingly straightforward!) by Villanesque1 (Thu 2nd Dec 2021 4:20pm)
  • πŸ˜‚ I’ll keep that in mind - there are some lovely looking villages up towards Helensburgh for example, but I’m definitely drawn to the buzz of Glasgow itself by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 11:24am)
  • I’m definitely open to possibilities like that as long as there’s enough to do etc. I know I’d be paying a premium to be anywhere in the city. Thanks! by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 11:23am)
  • I’ve heard good things! Literally on the doorstep of the airport and Glasgow. I’m making a long list of places to look at ☺️ by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 11:53am)
  • That’s the huge thing for me if I’m a bit further out; good train links. Thanks 😁 by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 11:52am)
  • That’s what I’m quickly learning - I just can’t imagine getting home at 2am and driving around to find somewhere to put my car, nightmare! I’ve been watching the property market in Glasgow for ages and I’m aware of the high prices, so I need to decide if location is worth the hefty price tag. Thanks for the cardonald suggestion, adding that and Paisley to my list of places to go visit ☺️ by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 2:19pm)
  • Ideally a flat, and probably around £160k tops, so I really need to get out and have a look at areas, their proximity to amenities etc, and yes parking. I’m sure I’ll need to compromise on something, and I don’t think I could compromise on parking when coming home at 2am πŸ˜… Thanks! by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 2:23pm)
  • I’m drawn to the south as well, although I’ve never been, I just hear good things! Definitely need a day trip there for a mooch around. I’ve currently got a flat that I need to get ready to sell, and could potentially live with my mum in the west and save for a few months before my transfer in Feb, so I COULD in theory sell high and buy slightly lower. Thanks so much for the insight 😊 by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 2:21pm)
  • Outskirts of Edinburgh currently, and I do have a flat to sell, so hopefully £160k ish 🀞🏻 by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 2:39pm)
  • It’s certainly well positioned for the city and AND the airport - thank you! by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 3:39pm)
  • I definitely need a wee day trip to mooch around it - it’s more the coming home at 2am and walking ages to my flat that I don’t want to do, but I think it would depend what I found and where to which compromises I’d be willing to make. by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 3:38pm)
  • I think I definitely need to pick the brains of a few Glasgow estate agents to see how the market is everywhere with flats, houses etc. a friend of mine was outbid on everything for 7months! πŸ₯² by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 3:41pm)
  • I hope so! Well aware I could get out-bid but fingers crossed 🀞🏻😊 by Villanesque1 (Sat 27th Aug 2022 4:11pm)
  • Thanks for the valuable input! I’m definitely looking at newer builds too with parking included as long as they’re near enough a train station. Sounds very much like luck of the draw with where to find things. Adding these places to my list as well 😊 by Villanesque1 (Sun 28th Aug 2022 12:59am)
  • That’s thoroughly depressing 😭 I’m considering getting mine on the market sooner rather than later and then having a longer commute before I start working in Glasgow. Sounds like I’ll need all the time I can get πŸ₯² by Villanesque1 (Sun 28th Aug 2022 12:57am)
  • Thank you! I’d never quite realised just how close it was to the city, but it’s still its own place, which I love ☺️ by Villanesque1 (Sun 28th Aug 2022 1:03am)
  • Yeah it sounds like it’s everyone and every property, not just isolated incidents. I’m hoping the market starts to cool a tad before I’m actually ready to make the move 🀞🏻 by Villanesque1 (Sun 28th Aug 2022 1:02am)
  • I’ve literally just spotted a place for sale in there, it looks lovely! (I’m sure it’ll be long gone when I’m ready to move) I definitely need a good look around paisley for sure, thank you! by Villanesque1 (Sun 28th Aug 2022 1:01am)
  • It’s definitely on my list! I know family friends who live around there and Hampden who need to move their cars when a concert or game is on - so I need to look into that as well, thank you! by Villanesque1 (Sun 28th Aug 2022 8:24am)
  • I’ve been told ipark at Glasgow is £5 for the day and it’s behind/beside the BP garage? I’ve never tried it myself to see if that’s the rate but maybe worth a Google by Villanesque1 (Mon 5th Sep 2022 8:17am)
  • Check out Fine_line_ink_ on Instagram. She was Partick but I think she’s now in the town centre. Done a small fine line tattoo on my ankle that is gorgeous, and you can get a good taste of her work on her IG to see if her style suits by Villanesque1 (Mon 5th Sep 2022 4:28pm)
  • Mine was small but detailed, and I paid £80. She got exactly what I was after and sent me stuff to choose from, and had different sizes printed out on the day and spent ages talking to me about placement etc. I was SO SCARED since it was only my 2nd tattoo (crap first experience) and now I’m desperate to go back! by Villanesque1 (Mon 5th Sep 2022 4:32pm)
  • Yeah she’s super busy, I think I booked in Jan when her books opened and had my appointment in May so she’s in high demand, that’s for sure. Definitely worth the wait in my case anyway ☺️ by Villanesque1 (Mon 5th Sep 2022 5:38pm)
  • Could you put it on Gumtree or FB marketplace as free? by Villanesque1 (Sat 1st Oct 2022 10:21am)
  • That’s what I did and it’s still incredibly expensive. Starting to think that’s just a Glasgow thing πŸ˜‚πŸ‘πŸ» by Villanesque1 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 2:08pm)
  • I did that with my current flat in West Lothian and either I’m that pish at maths or I’m doing something wrong, because I didn’t get the number I’m currently paying, so I just wondered if anyone would be kind enough to just let me know what they pay with the discount. by Villanesque1 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 2:07pm)
  • I was somewhat aware of that, but not just how many flats are Band E πŸ₯² by Villanesque1 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 5:11pm)
  • Yikes ok I was doing the maths right then. I’m £119 a month for a band D currently, so it’s really handy to factor it into my decisions, cheers! by Villanesque1 (Sun 16th Oct 2022 5:10pm)
  • The Fish People besides Shields Road. by Villanesque1 (Thu 22nd Dec 2022 4:39pm)
  • Best chippy Hamden - got their chips and gravy last night and they were brilliant 🀀 by Villanesque1 (Mon 6th Feb 2023 5:44pm)
  • I’ve yet to try their fry ups, but can vouch for their incredible cheese and haggis toasties 🀀 by Villanesque1 (Sun 19th Feb 2023 3:08pm)
  • Second Salt and Vinegar. Their battered fish is lush, but I had a notion for breaded last time and it was outstanding by Villanesque1 (Sun 5th Mar 2023 1:23pm)
  • No, most universities here are very strict with their minimum entry requirements, especially UoG and UoE. by Villanesque1 (Sat 11th Mar 2023 7:41pm)
  • Those of us who are vaxxed don’t have a special name for ourselves. We just get on with things. Weird πŸ™„ by Villanesque1 (Sun 26th Mar 2023 8:55pm)
  • An estate agent is the best person to answer that question for you to be honest. I’ve just bought and managed to get my flat for home report, but it needed some work doing to it. I was also looking 5-10k under my actual budget so I could absorb having to spend over home report if needed. Good luck! by Villanesque1 (Sun 2nd Apr 2023 12:36pm)
  • easyJet fly to both Belfast airports from Glasgow I’m sure. Definitely the fastest way by Villanesque1 (Fri 14th Apr 2023 10:34pm)
  • I bought an alarm online (the Ashley one I think) and I’ve yet to try it because it’s SO LOUD but that baby is in my pocket even on the way to the shops, gives me a bit more piece of mind if anyone got too close you could scare the shit out of them without actually harming them. by Villanesque1 (Fri 5th May 2023 6:54pm)
  • Zucchini on Nithsdale road always has great stuff when I walk past, I remember they had GIANT peppers when no supermarket had any. They’re not the cheapest and I can’t speak about varying quality as I’ve only shopped in there once or twice, but when I have I’ve been very chuffed. by Villanesque1 (Wed 14th Jun 2023 12:29pm)
  • Tried it for the first time the other day. Agree, food was lovely by Villanesque1 (Tue 11th Jul 2023 8:23am)
  • Thanks! ☺️ by Villanesque1 (Tue 11th Jul 2023 11:56am)
  • Fine_line_ink_ on IG did mine a year ago and it’s still perfect. She’s super busy but give her a follow and watch for when she opens her diary again 🀞🏻 by Villanesque1 (Tue 25th Jul 2023 5:42pm)
  • Came here to ask the same. When my cousin got married she bought a gorgeous dress from a charity shop and had it altered to fit her perfectly. The whole thing cost her £150 by Villanesque1 (Tue 25th Jul 2023 11:18pm)
  • There’s a massive car park in the new St James shopping centre in the middle of town. Won’t be that cheap, but much less hassle than the train I’d reckon by Villanesque1 (Sat 29th Jul 2023 10:04am)
  • Have you costed up actually parking at EDI airport? We did it in June and one of the car parks was a really reasonable price that ended up only being about £5 more than travelling in from Glasgow, and much less hassle. by Villanesque1 (Sat 5th Aug 2023 4:56am)
  • We were £50 for their fast track valet parking that’s 1min walk and you literally drop of your keys and they park your car for you in a numbered bay that takes 2mins to find when you return. This was for 8 nights in mid June, booked a month in advance. I used to work at the airport so I’d guess the cheapest is the NCP car park on the main road in that has its own shuttle bus, but definitely worth checking! by Villanesque1 (Sat 5th Aug 2023 10:05am)
  • There are charities that re-home specific breeds like ragdolls (I’m on many fb groups just waiting for the day when my personal circumstances allow me to have a cat) and the majority of their cats must be indoors. Worth a look maybe. by Villanesque1 (Mon 18th Sep 2023 7:10pm)
  • Does that include the actual kitchen parts? If not, it seems incredibly steep. I got my kitchen totally redone back in July, from Wren. Small kitchen, and for the design and materials and all appliances I paid about 7k Wren offered to fit my new kitchen for an additional 3.5k (this was for a “dry install” no plumbing or electrics done) My parents knew a great fitter who did it much cheaper, so if you know of anyone who can rip out, install, do electrics and plumbing you’ll pay a lot less. by Villanesque1 (Thu 5th Oct 2023 3:24am)
  • I think so! Try to find yourself an independent fitter if you can; they’re much cheaper. Also ask any big company with fitting if they do a whole or just dry install, otherwise you’ll have to pay plumbers and electricians to finish the job. by Villanesque1 (Fri 6th Oct 2023 10:12am)
  • I’ve only just moved to the southside as of this year, and I couldn’t agree more. Coming out of my street and onto a busy road, there have been plenty of near misses. My question is, if I’m driving slowly (like turning a corner etc) and one of them slices through all lanes of traffic and I hit them, am I at fault? Genuinely freaks me out so much. Should probably invest in a dash cam! by Villanesque1 (Sun 8th Oct 2023 4:12pm)
  • Midweek or weekend? I met some American friends who were over visiting and we walked back to their hotel, from where I got an Uber south. Saturday night: wild, but in a hilarious, everyone is just pished and enjoying themselves way. Midweek? Much more quiet, but you’ll be fine walking together by Villanesque1 (Mon 9th Oct 2023 6:41am)
