  • Check out the Asian grocery stores. They are fully stocked. Why? The average white man doesn’t go in to shop there. Check out Super Asia for example, tons of bog roll and etc available by anactualdoctorr (Sun 15th Mar 2020 11:12am)

  • So my brother owns a company that has its own payment gateaway and online ordering platform for about 3,000 chinese takeaways and restaurants across the UK, and he says chinese and Thai has gone around 70% and it’s just not viable to be open for them. For example a chinese takeaway making around £1500-£2000 a week online, was last week making £200... its crazy. I’d be shut too. I’d 100% bet it’s stupid people linking 2 and 2. Indians/ fish and chip shops are absolutely fine, hell even more sales online. by anactualdoctorr (Thu 9th Apr 2020 7:01pm)
  • It’s bloody hard finding a good chinese. I live in Southside and go to Jasmine Takeaway in bothwell which are still open if you fancy a drive I suppose. I’m listening to Nicky and staying put atmo by anactualdoctorr (Thu 9th Apr 2020 7:17pm)
  • Rats are fucking awful to experience. We had a nightmare dealing with rats in my first floor flat. They would go into the kitchen eat everything make lots of noise it was awful. We put bait, poison etc, nothing. Kept coming. We finally found where they were coming from. The stupid builders had made a massive hole inside a hidden cupboard for ventilation and didn’t use it, just covered it up. Rats came from there. Blocked it, no rats anymore. My advice would be to shore your defences. Keep looking around for any entry point, however small. Even a cardboard cover will do. Do get poison if you can, at least until the council comes out. Are you south side by any chance? Tons of em this way. by anactualdoctorr (Thu 23rd Apr 2020 1:34am)

  • Hey bud, friendly neighbourhood junior doctor here... **A doctor has the right to refuse to perform vasectomy** – or they can refuse to refer you for one if they don’t believe that it will be in your best interests. The reasons for this could be, for example, that they think you are too young, or that it is too soon after a big change or crisis in your life. If this happens, you can always seek a second opinion, or choose to pay for it to be done privately. Before they agree you should have a vasectomy, your doctor they will: * Check you understand the advantages and disadvantages * Check you have considered the alternatives * Check whether you might regret the decision later * Want to give you extra counselling to make the decision if: * You’re younger than 30 * You don’t have any children * Your decision is related to a partner currently going through pregnancy * Your decision is related to ending a relationship with a partner * You are being encourage to get your vasectomy by someone else So, yeh! He's not being a "dick", he probably thinks its not in your interest and will regret it later. Please dont call health professionals "dicks", we're here to help. Any questions let me know, I'll try and answer! by anactualdoctorr (Fri 3rd Jul 2020 1:53pm)
  • Hey absolutely, and I totally get why you'd like to get it done. I can see your reasoning behind it. You are more than welcome to get it done privately, this will cost around £400. Can it maybe wait till Covid-19 is kind of over? Maybe this is another reason your GP is delaying it, as the NHS is putting non emergency procedures off until we know where we are with this pandemic. Thats what we in A&E have been told anyway. by anactualdoctorr (Fri 3rd Jul 2020 2:39pm)

  • Had my bike stolen from south side, literally saw someone next day who looked like one of the lads who hang about on Allison street (usually of gypsy Romanian descents) ride it into a wall then when I shouted at him, he was like “what do you want?!” and pulled a knife on me. Good times. by anactualdoctorr (Tue 15th Sep 2020 6:53pm)
  • I find Slater Hogg and Howison (Howitson?) a pleasure to deal with. Their mortgage advisory system is also very, very good. Ask for David in the Shawlands branch, top guy. Bought two flats with them, cost me £300 a pop mortgage advisory, got me around £400,000 in total mortgages lined up, super easy to use very little hassle. by anactualdoctorr (Fri 16th Oct 2020 3:54pm)

  • I did aye, but I forgot this is Reddit. Nah I was shit mate, couldn’t hit a side of a barn with a rocket by anactualdoctorr (Tue 22nd Mar 2022 9:24pm)

  • Junior doctor here at queen Elizabeth… I live in the Southside and absolutely love it. I’ve been looking to buy a house here for some time now, but haven’t seen one I like yet. Me and the misses want a house but forget about it. New builds are utter crap, claustrophobic shite and the older nicer ones are half a mil. So we’re buying a flat in the Southside… better than renting I guess by anactualdoctorr (Sat 26th Mar 2022 11:35am)
  • I have a Tesla Model 3, and live in flats in the south side. Whilst it can be a bit of a pain to think about your cars energy/fuel (yet another thing to kind of worry about) it is doable and will save you a lot of money. In my one year of ownership, I’ve approximately saved around £6500 in fuel. Obviously the trade off is the time to “fill up”. Like others have said Glasgow’s got good charging stations available. My gym even now has a charging station. So does my local supermarket. The rapid charging is excellent here so you shouldn’t really have an issue. by anactualdoctorr (Thu 7th Apr 2022 6:21am)
  • I do close to 8-10,000 miles a month… travelling doctor and that. The Tesla is a god send on long journeys. The autopilot helps a lot. If you’re only spending £50 a month (did you mean a week maybe?) then absolutely stick to Mazda by anactualdoctorr (Thu 7th Apr 2022 1:27pm)
  • I personally like Kokoro or chopstix, fast noodle and chicken for about £8. It taste good and you don’t have to wait half hour. by anactualdoctorr (Fri 8th Apr 2022 2:34pm)

  • Cleaning buzz are good. They clean both my flat and my parents house, and their office based business. 17.50 an hour they charge but always good. I can PM you the owners number, it’s a husband and wife business with a couple of cleaners by anactualdoctorr (Sun 10th Apr 2022 9:44pm)
  • We get loads of A&E visits with people off their rocket cause the drugs they took turned out to be something else. by anactualdoctorr (Mon 11th Apr 2022 8:30am)
  • It’s mainly monitoring their heart rate, blood pressure and consciousness. Majority of the time it’s fluids to flush their system and wait to ride it out. In severe cases, might perform a pumping of the stomach, sometimes give them activated charcoal to absorb the drug. It varies really. by anactualdoctorr (Tue 12th Apr 2022 9:01am)

  • The M8 is excellent, and a very good example of city design. Without it, imagine the amount of traffic given in any direction. It takes away a lot of traffic from the city centre and surrounding areas by anactualdoctorr (Sat 28th May 2022 11:16pm)

  • So Persian cuisine is all about kebabs, much like the Middle East. However, they’re quite fond of their stews too. One particular one I have had friends and family try and be absolutely hooked, is called Gormeh Sabzi. This is Greek fennels, spinach, kidney beans and lamb pieces with some other spices. It’s hard to describe the taste, but it’s never let anyone I know down. Give that a try. by anactualdoctorr (Sun 12th Jun 2022 10:21pm)

  • I had heard from the Ivy right next door to it that it was going to be "Sexy Fish", their upscale fish restaurant from London. Guess it was all a ploy by the waiter to sell me more overpriced sparkling water! by anactualdoctorr (Thu 30th Jun 2022 12:10pm)
  • There’s got to be a glasgow live lurker around here somewhere too who can put something of some value together by anactualdoctorr (Tue 5th Jul 2022 12:48pm)
  • My brother owns and operates a IT tech company in glasgow, they provide restaurants and hospitality venues like hotels with systems to process orders, book hotel rooms etc. Hilton, miller and carter that sort of customers. I asked him this question before and he said the number one issue is there isn’t a huge pool of tech people ie engineers, coders, programmers. And when there are graduated they all move away to London or abroad etc due to high wages because of competition between companies. He says as much as he’d love to be able to pay or match those salaries, there just isn’t enough business here. He says majority of his business is in Edinburgh I guess cause of the tourism money. He employs 170 people still, in Glasgow. by anactualdoctorr (Mon 1st Aug 2022 10:01am)

  • Coffee is just down to taste I think. If you just want that caffeine boost, McDonald’s and greggs for days, I think it’s around £1.90 for a flat white in McDonald’s? If you like/enjoy good coffee, have been drinking it for a while and are prepared to pay for it, I found Spitfire and Us vs Them coffees being particularly good, but not something I’d get every single day due to their prices. Not the most expensive, but definitely up there price range. by anactualdoctorr (Fri 12th May 2023 1:35pm)
  • Brilliant art style by anactualdoctorr (Fri 12th May 2023 3:41pm)
  • 100% what we do. Me and the misses only use JustEat and that to look up places. A burger that costs £6.99 on JustEat is only £5.40 on their own website. They only do it to justify the 30% commission by passing it on to you. Own website has no commission and usually even has an offer like 10% off. Winner winner by anactualdoctorr (Mon 15th May 2023 8:38am)
  • Takeaway own websites have 10-15% off, while you’re paying a lot more on deliveroo and the like, cause their passing on their commissioned prices. I think people are just realising it more maybe with the cost of living, and looking for value by anactualdoctorr (Mon 15th May 2023 8:40am)
