  • I have been monitoring them too! Something just came up that works for my timeframe! calling them today! by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:08am)
  • My approach to a new city is always to start from the best location I can afford to really fall in love with the place. I live in Liverpool almost across the street from the Royal Albert Dock and it has been great! I would consider further when I’m ready to buy :) by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:07am)
  • Actually not the first time I hear about western lettings being more pet friendly! I’m keeping an eye out for their properties! by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:05am)
  • Yeah I am finding a bit of both. Seems like scammers are also on open rent now! by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:14am)
  • I’d really like to walk to work, but I’m open to a short commute (subway preferred). Other than 2bd, 2 baths are desirable but not a requirement, I like space/storage, I prefer no carpets (or at least some rooms without them), and good water pressure :) ground floor a plus as my dog doesn’t go indoors so he needs a walk 3x a day by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:13am)
  • Yes! Monitoring there too! by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:10am)
  • I would consider it as a last case scenario but ffs it can’t be that all landlords are pet haters! by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:10am)
  • Yes to this! Mine is a small terrier mutt who is more well behaved than… most people! Will definitely use the crate tip! Thank you by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:09am)
  • Yes, totally open to this! by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:16am)
  • Yeah, absolutely! I might go up for a week in July to do some proper viewings but would like to line them up in advance as the mkt is quite dynamic by civilinator (Fri 20th May 2022 7:15am)
  • Thanks everyone. Not the best flat in the end, though the location was fine… by civilinator (Wed 6th Jul 2022 4:57pm)
  • I get my queens wrong from time to time! 😂 by civilinator (Wed 6th Jul 2022 4:56pm)
  • Hey--did you get anything? Was in the same situation till... TODAY! Just got a (bit overpriced) flat in the west end without extra pet fees. The agent was from 'key rental', a smaller business, and my dog was not a problem at all. I had the sense that the agent knew the landlady well and she took the time to show me the place and chat for a bit, including about my dog. I also got an offer accepted on another flat managed by 'Edzell lettings'. I generally wrote in applications that I would be happy to pay a deposit etc for the dog if needed. Key didn't ask for one, Edzell would require a 200 deposit. Hope this helps. The market is hell! by civilinator (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 9:45pm)
  • Yeah. Honestly I was thinking the same but it is not impossible. I came here this week with the plan to stay for how long as I needed to and the flat I got was the first I saw. I applied to everything I liked, though, as you never know. Edzell lettings guy ghosted me after I told him I needed the info by email to think about the flat…. So I’m glad I didn’t go with that one… by civilinator (Thu 4th Aug 2022 7:26pm)
  • Yeah. I will get a car eventually but not immediately. I see this as more of a “just arriving and may need a car to run errands” kind of thing. Next spring I’ll be looking to buy but I walk to work and don’t need anything on a daily basis by civilinator (Wed 31st Aug 2022 11:23pm)
  • Thanks! The delivery company bringing a new bed recycles for £25 so I’m going with that in the end for convenience. Not a lot of room to leave a broken divan. by civilinator (Wed 28th Sep 2022 12:21am)
  • Oban has been recommended by friends. Would it be good for a day or two including a trip across the island? by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 9:48am)
  • Good to know the sub is full of folks trying to travel with parents that have mobility issues :) by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 9:46am)
  • Got a wee list of recommendations to go through, might be able to do a couple if I can fit some day trips! Thanks for the suggestions! by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 11:18pm)
  • Great to see such a welcoming community for folks with mobility limitations 👍 by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 11:16pm)
  • Love a nice castle! I’ll check it out for a day trip! by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 11:16pm)
  • Whereabouts? Very much into good beers by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 11:20pm)
  • So is the oban seafood place really as worth the trip as folks say? I’m told it’s quite nice but it’s also the only thing people tend to mention about it by civilinator (Tue 9th May 2023 11:19pm)
  • Not British, no interest in making it at home. by civilinator (Thu 15th Jun 2023 7:39pm)
  • Didn’t know there was one here! I’ve been to Toby’s in the midlands by civilinator (Thu 15th Jun 2023 10:26pm)
  • The women’s are fine though. Seconding brewhaus despite the limited IPA selection, the garden is one of the best in the region. by civilinator (Thu 29th Jun 2023 4:27pm)
  • Beers will be between 5.50-6.50 in the area. The Chip has a nice selection, including nice wine glasses around 6. Cocktails will be closer to 10. Most suggestions above are good: chip/belle have a traditional wood pub vibe, the brewhaus or outdoors at the chip are the nicest on a sunny day by civilinator (Thu 29th Jun 2023 4:32pm)
