  • I got married there a couple of years ago. It’s a great venue but access isn’t as easy as you think. You can’t drive on to Buchanan street after 10am and loading from Argyle Street is pretty much a nonstarter. For this reason most of the good wedding DJ’s won’t touch it. It’s not all bad news. I used Gordy is a DJ. He’s brilliant, look him up. I then booked Mad Crew for the load in/out, cost me another few quid but worth it. by detox2020 (Sat 26th Jan 2019 8:01am)

  • The police surrendered the roads years ago. The best they can do is wait until there's an accident and appeal for dash cam footage. I pass through 10 sets of lights on my way commute. Without fail there will be 1-2 cars running a red at every set. by detox2020 (Mon 27th Jan 2020 10:27pm)

More comfortable for riding on the roads and better suited to cycle paths and off road. I've done full loop and figure 8 of arran on mine and didn't notice much of a difference in speed or the climbs. by detox2020 (Sun 31st May 2020 4:24pm)

  • Town is a bit of a crazy place at the moment, particularly that area. I was cycling through town in the evenings to take advantage of it being so quiet but I felt a bit on edge. Groups of homeless and junkies congregating with nothing to do and nobody to beg from. Hopefully some shops opening back up will bring some life back to the city centre. by detox2020 (Sun 28th Jun 2020 2:11pm)

  • In fairness he's only one of the partners and we don't really know anything about his finances or that of the other businesses he owns But I will agree that no privately owed business should be looking for handouts via crowdfunding. It seems like the focus here is on saving the business rather than the sub club as a venue. by detox2020 (Wed 8th Jul 2020 11:08am)
  • From what I know about him (friend of a friend) he is a bit of a philanthropist. He helps out loads of small and start up businesses. I think he was involved with 6 by nico, not sure if he still is. I have no reason to dispute his statement. As has been pointed out, he's fucking loaded, why would he be trying to scam money out of a nightclub. Sub club has been in trouble for years. This was coming for a long time. by detox2020 (Wed 8th Jul 2020 6:31pm)
  • Anyone who doesn't want to wear a mask should still be allowed in shops but they have to agree to wear a sandwich board that says I'M A SELFISH MORON. by detox2020 (Fri 10th Jul 2020 8:34pm)
  • Not to excuse his behaviour but the guy who owns Bar Vini is generally nice guy. I've been in there and some other places he's owned and he's always been pleasant. I was pretty surprised when I seen this video as it's totally out of character. I can only imagine the stress involved with trying to keep a business afloat at the moment. That being said, as a cyclist who uses that stretch of road, his and other cars are regularly parked there. The council need to get their act together when it comes to that cycle route. It's been under construction for the best part of 3 years with no end in sight. As for the boy who was threatened, I've been following him for a while on twitter. He's very active in promoting safe cycling and highlighting issues, but he's becoming more belligerent and confrontational recently. I wasn't surprised to see him finally get in to an argument with someone. by detox2020 (Mon 13th Jul 2020 11:04am)
  • No point in them issuing tickets that will never get paid. by detox2020 (Mon 13th Jul 2020 1:14pm)
  • Agreed. I enquired about the progress of it last year and was told by the council that completion would be delayed as priority was being given to the Euro 2020 and the climate change conference. Now that covid has come along it who knows when it'll ever be finished. That road is actually more dangerous to cycle on due the state of the cycle path. by detox2020 (Mon 13th Jul 2020 2:27pm)
  • Hopefully it encourages the council to finish work on it and enforce parking laws on the entire length of the road. by detox2020 (Mon 13th Jul 2020 6:43pm)
  • Would be good but for some reason Vicky Road is completely ignored when it comes to enforcement of parking or even traffic laws. I use that route regularly and it's not a nice place to cycle. by detox2020 (Mon 13th Jul 2020 6:40pm)
