  • May I ask what that is? by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:29am)
  • Don’t worry I would never lmfao by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:28am)
  • Already done that mate by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:26am)
  • The actual Scottish language or the accents? I have some friends that live in Glasgow and they said they don’t even know the language 😭 by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:30am)
  • What’s the east end? 😭 by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:57am)
  • Hahaha alright bro I’ll try figure it out once I’m there by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:56am)
  • I’m moving up from the South Coast so I’m about as southern as you can get. As I said, I have friends in Glasgow and I’ve spoken to them for years now. A few words go over my head but I can kinda get the meaning from how they’re using it in a sentence. The only issue I’ve had with understanding the “language” is the older people, whenever my mates dad speaks to me I can barely understand a single word he says. I guess I’ll just have to learn it as I go. On another note, if I’m ever in a situation where I can’t understand what someone is saying due to the accent or whatever being too strong, what would be a good response? by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 11:55am)
  • Oh really? Fair enough. I’m only moving up from the South because all my mates are up in GLA and I have nothing down here worth staying for. Thanks for the insight though, me and my girlfriend will be renting somewhere. I spoke to my girlfriends nan about moving up and she being quite wealthy said that some of her friends have made the move up there because it’s “up and coming” or something along those lines. by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 1:14pm)
  • How come? by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 1:15pm)
  • That's actually one of the reasons I'm excited to move! I don't like the heat at all, plus I've heard the air quality is really nice in Scotland which is a really big plus for me since I'm hyper sensitive to that kinda stuff :/ by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 3:52pm)
  • Anywhere in or walking distance from the city centre! Thank you! by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 3:59pm)
  • I'm moving with my girlfriend, she's a student starting in September. Looking to move as close to the city centre as possible so she doesn't have to pay for travel to Uni. Living down here she had to pay for travel and the cost ended up being a ridiculous amount, so we want walking distance from the city centre. Other than that we're easy, I have friends living all around from Paisley to Clydebank so I will have there help, but anymore would be greatly appreciated! by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 3:59pm)
  • Yeah I thought so. I've seen a lot of talk about it on this subreddit aswell. It's sad, honestly. I'm from Brighton, and £1000 down here would get you a horrible looking studio flat. We're paying around that up in Glasgow and getting a lot better for our money. But as I said, that isn't the main reason me and my girlfriend are moving. Every friend I have lives in Glasgow and my girlfriend is studying there at Uni this September so it was a no brainer decision. It's sad to see though, for sure :( by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 3:56pm)
  • I'm not to fussed about the weather, I prefer it to be more colder. I always tell myself I prefer the heat but when it's eventually hot it's just unbearable. I'm glad you love it, I'm excited! by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 4:03pm)
  • Hahaha these are great, thank you so much! And don't worry about the last one, I'm from the south coast so we're already used to that :D by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 4:02pm)
  • Ah fair enough, I guess it'll be a talking point with me and my girlfriend, thanks for the info mate! by ecca (Wed 13th Jul 2022 7:31pm)
  • Tollcross area, sorry about that! by ecca (Sat 1st Oct 2022 1:23am)
  • Thanks for this, I’ll definitely have a look next time I get one! by ecca (Sat 1st Oct 2022 2:34pm)
  • Got it, thanks for this! by ecca (Sat 1st Oct 2022 2:39pm)
  • Sure mate, it’s “New Kismet Tandoori”. Never go there! 😹 EDIT: Just one thing, the reviews on Just Eat are actually decent, but if you go to their Google reviews it’s a completely different story. by ecca (Sat 1st Oct 2022 2:36pm)
  • Sounds good, cheers pal. by ecca (Sat 1st Oct 2022 2:39pm)
  • Just had a great kebab from Ali’s, thanks for the recommendation mate! by ecca (Sat 1st Oct 2022 10:14pm)
  • Yeah don’t worry I do close it when I use mine! Thanks though 😁 by ecca (Sun 13th Nov 2022 4:01pm)
  • Well I moved from the south of England and was living in a really hot house. My room would never drop below around 20 degrees and in the summer it would get as bad as 38 degrees! Clothes would dry in a few hours there so this is a new issue for me! 😹 by ecca (Sun 13th Nov 2022 4:43pm)
  • how do you only heat one room? just curious by ecca (Wed 23rd Nov 2022 5:35pm)
  • Yeah I believe this is correct. My friend got stabbed last week because he hit someone who was being racist towards him because he's Muslim. He punched the guy who was being racist and the racist's friend (who was 18) stabbed him twice in the chest, once in the back and once in the stomach. One of the wounds was 2 inches from his heart, needless to say he's lucky to be alive but he's doing decent now. by ecca (Tue 29th Nov 2022 7:45pm)
  • Yeah I agree, and definitely has! by ecca (Tue 29th Nov 2022 8:41pm)
  • Glasgow Centre and around a week ago. I'm not sure if he's been charged yet or whatever, but they arrested him the evening he did the stabbing. The sad cunts ruined his life at 18 to back his racist mate up who probably wouldn't of done the same. It's sad. by ecca (Wed 30th Nov 2022 4:59am)
  • Are you able to link me the dehumidifier you use? I've been having a horrible time trying to dry clothes for the last few months by ecca (Thu 15th Dec 2022 1:55am)
  • Bumble has a friends section she can use, my girlfriend uses it and she's seen numerous 40+ women on there! by ecca (Sat 13th May 2023 11:28am)
  • merchant chippie is great but they put so much fuckin salt on everything by ecca (Wed 24th May 2023 7:42pm)
  • nah it's too much, i had to scrape it off for it to even be edible and it barely was, i couldn't finish it because it was so awful, i was so sure i was gonna OD on salt lmfao the actual food was rlly nice tho by ecca (Wed 24th May 2023 8:59pm)
  • i grew up in brighton (south coast of england) and moved up here in september, the lack of dnb events is pretty much the only the complaint i have! by ecca (Thu 1st Jun 2023 10:11am)
  • jesus man that's far!, yeah i definitely miss it being right on my doorstep 😹 there definitely needs to be a place up here that does mostly dnb, it was almost like a culture shock in regards to the music up here, it honestly feels about a decade behind compared to down south, i've heard places like thailand are even starting to mainly play dnb lmfao by ecca (Thu 1st Jun 2023 10:30am)
  • nah i get what you mean, i know there's countless great djs from glasgow, i just meant it terms of electronic music in the last 6-7 years down in england (and i think some specific parts of europe?) is pretty much only dnb, all other electronic music has kinda been phased out besides maybe some house music here and there, it kinda took over england, atleast in the south! since living here i've heard a lot of the old style of electronic music i used to hear before the dnb craze so that's where i'm coming from when i'm saying the decade behind part :) do you think dnb will ever take over like it has down south? i'm curious on your opinion by ecca (Thu 1st Jun 2023 5:20pm)
  • oh yeah ofc there is! dnb seemingly popped up out of nowhere though, especially the smaller derivatives of dnb, like jump-up for example. how come dnb isn't played up here, do you think it's honestly just regional taste, like you said? by ecca (Sat 3rd Jun 2023 10:17am)
  • pouring out oasis? you crazy bastard by ecca (Wed 14th Jun 2023 11:41am)
  • yeah blue lagoon isn't too bad, it's absolutely vile if you order it (don't ask), but when you're drunk it's decent, the glaring issue is the price though, it's like £6 for chips and a sausage and the portion sizes are tiny ffs by ecca (Sat 17th Jun 2023 10:08am)
  • I'm living with my partner who's at Uni up here, we moved from Brighton because I have some pals up here and she wanted to study here. Everything you stated is true, Glasgow is great for all of that in my opinion, there's always something to do and you didn't mention it but the food places are great up here, there are so many options and are mostly really nice. We live in a spacious 2 bed for £850~ a month and it's about an 8 minute train from city centre. The trains and busses are great in Glasgow once you get used to them (Moovit app helped the best for us), they're more frequent as you can imagine and it has a subway system. The prices for them are also good so living a bit outside the city isn't bad at all and you're looking at a way lower rent price. I believe it's £1.80 for me to get into town. If you're happy to get a 25 minute train to city centre, my friend lives in a lovely 3 bed for £500, so I'm sure there are more about. There are SO many benefits with health and stuff like that which are exclusive to Scotland, off the top of my head (don't quote me on this), I believe you get free dental care, free eye tests, free prescriptions, free bus travel and lowered train prices all if you're under a certain age. As far as the cost of living it's pretty low here compared to the south, but honestly it's more like it feels like a reasonable price and the south is just ripping you off. We pay a bit extra for our rent than we'd like but we're just happy we're here now. I think I heard that Glasgow is the best city for saving money or something? That definitely makes sense to me. The biggest shock coming up here were the takeaway prices, I got used to paying £12-15 for a small kebab down south, up here I can get one the size of a small coffee table (I'm actually serious) for £6. You haven't mentioned this but I thought you'd like to here it, the people here are 100x better than the people down south, at least in my experience. You get some moody old bastards that are mostly old men but they're few are far between and everyone's keen on stopping for a chat or helping you out if needed. Not only that, if you're wanting to go hiking, running, or anything involving nature in general than Glasgow is probably the best place you wanna be. There are so many beautiful spots nearby just a train/bus ride away, views that you genuinely can't see in England, it's honestly blown me away seeing some of the views. One more thing, there are some weird drinking laws up here, you can't drink alcohol in public so most people just pour it into a different bottle, and you can't buy alcohol past 10pm! Hope this helped, sorry it's a bit everywhere. by ecca (Sat 17th Jun 2023 10:37am)
  • Well said pal, this has been my opinion for awhile now, too. Sad really :/ by ecca (Wed 21st Jun 2023 3:01pm)
  • how's edinburgh? by ecca (Mon 10th Jul 2023 11:30am)
  • Forevermore is amazing, best piercing shop I've ever been and only like a 10 or so minute walk from Queen Street Station by ecca (Fri 14th Jul 2023 12:36pm)
  • Thanks for the help, yeah yesterday I wrote him a note that I'll put through his letterbox today just saying if he needs help with anything, ever, to not hesitate to knock or call my number. The home delivery is a good idea and I'll definitely mention it. Cheers pal! by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:54am)
  • Yeah tenant and I'm not sure about him, I'll try and spark up a convo about it to him. Only issue is I probably see him once every 2 weeks so I'm posting him a letter today. by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:59am)
  • No I'm not but I'll look into it? Anyway you could point me in the right direction? I used to live with my ex and we swapped flats with a family above us but that was in England so I wasn't sure if the same applies for Scotland! Thank you :) by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:58am)
  • 100% will do this! by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:57am)
  • Mate, the stairs are a killer for someone that's relatively healthy so I can't imagine how hard they must be for him. Every time I get a delivery they always make a joke about how fucked those stairs are and I always offer them water since they're always heavy breathing. Yeah I get what you're saying about the refusal of help, the same would be said for my dad as well, kind of sad tbh. by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:57am)
  • Good idea, I'll buy a fold up chair when I can and stick it half way up with a note above it so no one moves it. Thanks for the help mate by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 11:55am)
  • Yeah I understand what you mean, it must be genuinely awful noticing yourself not being able to do the same things you've done all your life. To be honest I've never once seen anybody visit him, only seen him get deliveries for plants and I can hear through the wall that he has a few birds. I'm leaving him a chair half way up the stairs, and posting a note today and hopefully that'll make him feel a bit better knowing I'm here to help with anything he needs. You reckon calling social services is a good idea? I'll look into it mate, cheers for the help. by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 12:08pm)
  • Yeah I'll be honest convos with people I don't really know don't go as smoothly as this 😹 But I'll for sure try, thanks a lot! He doesn't seem too keen to talk for long periods of time, usually giving 1 word answers or just a "good morning" or something. But next time I see him I'll try a bit harder to get him in conversation. by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 12:03pm)
  • Yeah okay I'll definitely look into it and let him know about it, thanks for the help! by ecca (Sat 15th Jul 2023 12:09pm)
