  • If your legs can take 8 hours of standing, you can lift kegs, and you can deal with drunk people then sure. Worked with people a decade older than you in hospitality, they were fine. But if I were you, I'd go for a supervisor or manager position. by flohara (Fri 11th Feb 2022 8:08pm)
  • Yeah, pretty standard at a more calm pub, with doing the tills and all. by flohara (Fri 11th Feb 2022 9:49pm)
  • Most part time pub hours are weekend, so yeah. by flohara (Fri 11th Feb 2022 9:53pm)
  • Each place is different, really depends on the owner, what staff they have, and what age group they cater to. But in most cases, they'll need most hands on deck on a Friday and Saturday night, Saturday and Sunday luch time, plus their quiz night if they got one. by flohara (Fri 11th Feb 2022 10:10pm)

  • What genre? What bands do you like? Charity shops and car boot sales will have plenty, but mostly crap. if you are looking for anything specific, I'd suggest you order from Bandcamp or buy at the gig to actually support the bands you like. by flohara (Sun 26th Jun 2022 5:06pm)
  • Some gen Z employee at First Bus knew exactly what the sexual connotations of the 😩 emoji are, they just decided to take the piss out of the company. by flohara (Thu 18th Aug 2022 11:22am)

  • I actually asked them the other day. According to the driver, there's a driver shortage and a vehicle shortage. I get this, okay, fair enough. But, why the hell do we see all the time two of them 75 buses back to back then at like random quiet times? Mind you, they both have plenty of empty seats, all passengers could fit on one bus... And the traffic was fine on these days btw, so there's definitely an element of poor planning here. And then at peak times they can't let all the people on, because they are too packed... They scan tickets so they should have data on how many passengers and when, you would think someone sat down with that and made a sensible rota, but apparently no by flohara (Tue 15th Nov 2022 8:48pm)
  • I remember around 2017 First Bus actually did the "quids in" thing in Manchester...with inflation and all, it would be more, but still. There they had Stagecoach as a competition, maybe if they didn't have a monopoly in Glasgow that would help? by flohara (Sun 18th Dec 2022 11:01pm)
  • Govanhill area has some great ones, quite a diverse community, and if you take the bus it's like 10 minutes by flohara (Sun 15th Jan 2023 8:08am)

  • People are mostly very lovely and friendly. It takes the same amount of time to go tona forest for a walk as go to the middle of city centre to see a gig. Both are a possibility for a random weekend, don't need to take days off or pay extra for a hostel room because it's within a bus or train ride. My plants *love* scottish tapwater, they grew like two inches in 6 months (was about a quarter of that in Kent). Small businesses, like little shops, cafés, restaurants, bars ran by people who are enthusiastic about their thing. by flohara (Thu 26th Jan 2023 3:03pm)
  • Just google it, it already says what platform 30 minutes before. I think they don't want people getting on the previous train or blocking the platform by flohara (Tue 31st Jan 2023 5:34pm)
  • Have to start deepfrying snickers for the new customer base by flohara (Sat 25th Feb 2023 4:05pm)
  • No. That's not a good idea. This will only affect their poor hospitality workers, not the person who came up with the idea. If this is how they treat potential customers, I'm sure those minimal wage workers they employ get all the respect and dignity, not rushed off their feet and totally need another mess to clean up... by flohara (Sun 12th Mar 2023 1:58pm)
  • No, please do not punish FOH employees for their bosses' mistakes. The folks who will have to pick up after you had fuck all to do with this. by flohara (Sun 12th Mar 2023 2:04pm)

  • There is a lot of derelict buildings all over, even in the city centre. Those all could be something more useful. by flohara (Tue 18th Apr 2023 4:01pm)
  • It would be a start to make it more unprofitable to keep buildings empty or barely habitable edit: kinda like how it works with cars. by flohara (Tue 18th Apr 2023 4:20pm)
  • Hmm, I recall a while ago there was a scandal with a girl on tiktok buying oat milk in Lidl and it looking lumpy out of the box. She bought box after box and all of it was lumpy. • M&S or TK Maxx would probably worth looking at, especially that they are close to each other anyways. But yeah, even within the same shop, the quality of the fake plants can be very different, depending on materials used, type of plant etc. Sometimes even at like wilkos there's a very pretty, life-like magnolia branch next to those tacky, completely fucked looking single stem rose arrangements. by flohara (Fri 19th May 2023 8:54am)

  • DELETED The worst ones are chihuahuas and other ankle biters actually, because people treat them like a toy and give them zero agency. 9 out of 10 are a bit loopy by the time they are grown. The licence thing would probably end up being really racist, and not necessarily do its job. The typical narcissistic cunt whose whole personality is coke, would probably still end up owning these toxic masculinity breeds. The main issue is that they don't give a fuck. by flohara (Thu 6th Jul 2023 4:06pm)
  • He tried to hand me a bracelet, so probably the usual overpriced trinket scam. Same method as the tissue folks on the train, or the ones who hand you flowers. The train ones also pretend to be disabled or refugees with 4+ children to feed, but aren't. They give you (or your kid) the trinket, and then ask for 10× the price. by flohara (Fri 28th Jul 2023 11:00pm)
