  • No idea why you’ve been downvoted for this. Going by my seven year old and four year old, I’d agree with this. I only hope the poor girl did sleep through it all. by harg7769 (Thu 21st Feb 2019 11:02pm)
  • Is this the one in Carntyne? by harg7769 (Thu 4th Apr 2019 7:50pm)
  • My mistake. The one in Carntyne is called the New Panda House. Judging by the nick of it, the original Panda House must be about 50 years old. by harg7769 (Thu 4th Apr 2019 8:04pm)
  • A guy I played fives with tried to break up a domestic where the woman was getting a hiding. She turned on him and he ended up in court on assault charges despite being the innocent party. No chance I'd get involved with anything like that. by harg7769 (Sat 4th May 2019 3:33am)

  • A bit too close to home for my liking. You should try that line in a pub in Glasgow, see how well it would be received. by harg7769 (Sat 27th Feb 2021 11:17pm)
  • I remember the pubs closing on a Sunday afternoon before opening again later in the day as my dad and his pals would go, come home for dinner then back to the pub again. This would have been round about mid 70s through to early 80s possibly so ties in with your dates. by harg7769 (Fri 19th Mar 2021 11:25pm)
  • I was born in 69 so can’t vouch for it being called Dissy corner then but it definitely was called that when I was growing up in the 80s. by harg7769 (Thu 8th Apr 2021 10:58pm)
  • Glasgow is still doing the 50-54 age group just now. I’m booked in for tomorrow and my brother who turned 50 in January will get his on Friday. I’d imagine under 50s will start next week sometime. by harg7769 (Mon 12th Apr 2021 5:32pm)

  • You can claim the actual amount you have lost on the basis of net earnings (after tax and national insurance have been deducted). If you are self employed Inland Revenue rules mean that this will be based on your gross earnings and you will be responsible for declaring the money you get along with your business’s other income. In both cases the amounts you can claim are subject to the following limits: 4 hours or less - £32.47 More than 4 hours (for the period from day 1 up to day 5) - £64.95 Whole day rate (for the period from day 6 up to day 100) - £129.91 Whole day rate (for each day following 100 days) - £230 It looks like you get shafted. I’m not eligible either but the rates are published on their website https://www.scotcourts.gov.uk/coming-to-court/jurors/expenses-for-jury-service by harg7769 (Sun 23rd May 2021 1:55am)
  • Autosafe on Amulree Street in Shettleston have always been very reasonable. My dad put me onto them a few years ago and I’ve been using them ever since. by harg7769 (Tue 13th Jul 2021 10:02pm)

  • So the extra spicy buffalo chicken wings, worth a go? The spicier the better for me. by harg7769 (Sat 14th Aug 2021 9:03pm)
  • Nice one. I've always wanted to try goat curry so it's definitely on the wish list. by harg7769 (Sat 14th Aug 2021 10:09pm)
  • Socky although I've no problem with people who say Sucky. 🤷 by harg7769 (Sat 14th Aug 2021 10:51pm)
  • Decided to go for the extra spicy buffalo wings and jerk fish with rice and peas. The jerk fish was amazing, really tasty with a nice spice level. The only problem I had was the bones were still in the fish so I spent most of my time eating between the bones but I’ll know better the next time. The extra hot chicken wings were very accurately described. I can handle hot food but these were possibly the hottest I’ve tried so if you’re not sure about hot food, give these a miss. My mouth is still on fire now. 😂 Overall, it’s a winner for me and I look forward to going back. by harg7769 (Sun 15th Aug 2021 5:11pm)

  • I'd never been in the Toby Jug until a couple of years ago when my mate suggested meeting there before going through to Edinburgh for a James concert. I didn't realise it was a Rangers pub so didn't think anything was wrong with my green trainers at first. Then when the Rangers fans started coming in before a European game, it quickly became clear what it was. What made it worse is that he's a Celtic fan and didn't warn me. When I asked him why he picked this pub, all he could say was 98p tuborgs. We quickly left there and headed through to Edinburgh. Never again. by harg7769 (Sat 21st Aug 2021 10:17pm)
  • The Glaswegian maybe? Fairly sure that’s a Rangers pub. by harg7769 (Sun 22nd Aug 2021 1:35am)

  • I'm with First Direct. Pre Covid, they were brilliant and would normally answer the call immediately. Nowadays though, I have had problems getting in touch with them. The last time I contacted them by phone was to finalise a credit card application. I was held in a queue for 20 minutes before giving up and getting a credit card somewhere else. by harg7769 (Sun 17th Oct 2021 10:02am)
  • MacDonners on Springfield road do a good Sarbeni. I'm not sure if it's the same company that has the one on St Vincent St but if it is they're really good. by harg7769 (Thu 21st Oct 2021 6:58pm)
  • St Aloysius Church on Rose St in Garnethill has a full size organ. No idea when it’s played as I haven’t been there since I left the school but I’m sure if you gave them a call, they’d let you know by harg7769 (Fri 22nd Oct 2021 10:42pm)

  • My one and only shot at jury duty involved one of the staff from there who had allegedly assaulted a customer. The defence lawyer was trying to claim the victim was pissed. When he said he’d had 8 or 9 pints, my first thought was that’s not that bad, I don’t believe he was that drunk. by harg7769 (Fri 12th Nov 2021 8:43pm)
  • I’ve got Vodafone Pro broadband in the house. I’ve only ever had one problem when there was an issue at the exchange affecting all ISPs. Contacted Vodafone and they gave me unlimited data on my phone for 30 days to use as a hotspot. Excellent service imo. by harg7769 (Tue 16th Nov 2021 8:42pm)

  • Not a Scottish band but I heard Heaven 17 singing Party Fears Two in the O2 Academy last month and it was mind blowing. I didn’t even want to go to the concert but their version of this song has stuck with me. by harg7769 (Fri 31st Dec 2021 8:03pm)
  • Can the police not just tell the licence holder to close the pub? It’s their license that is at risk. by harg7769 (Sat 1st Jan 2022 8:59pm)
  • Ah right, thanks. by harg7769 (Sat 1st Jan 2022 9:03pm)
  • Yes! Meeting in a pub in Bath Street and then getting picked up by a coach to somewhere just off the M77. The Halloween party where a group of us turned up as jelly fish. 😂 by harg7769 (Sun 23rd Jan 2022 12:55pm)
  • It may be now but about 20 years ago it would move about. The Halloween party was in a building on South Street. We went to a couple in South Street until it was raided one night. After that I think it moved to the place near the O2. by harg7769 (Sun 23rd Jan 2022 1:28pm)

  • I used to buy Charles Tyrwhitt shirts for work but they all seemed to rip at the lower arm after less than a year so I gave up on them. Linea jumpers from Frasers used to be pretty good although I don’t know if they still have that line now that Mike Ashley owns it. For jeans, Paul Smith seems fairly indestructible. I bought a pair 12 years ago that cost me £95 and they still look as good as new. Certainly lasted a lot longer than other premium brands I’ve bought eg Armani, Boss, Diesel, Versace. The only other brand that is close imo is Vivienne Westwood but you’d be lucky to get a pair these days for under £150. by harg7769 (Sun 27th Feb 2022 1:21am)
  • Nobody like [Hajar Shawarma](https://www.hajarsshawarma.com/Content/AboutHajar'sShawarma)on Sauchiehall St? I thought it was better than Shawarma King. by harg7769 (Wed 2nd Mar 2022 10:23pm)

  • Edge of The Grave by Robbie Morrison. It’s set in 1930s Glasgow but it’s superb. Alex Gray’s DCI Lorimer series of books are set in and around Glasgow The Necessary Death of Lewis Winter by Malcolm Mackay City of Gangs: Glasgow and the Rise of the British Gangster by Andrew Davies. Non fiction history of Glasgow gangs but a really good read Resurrection Men by David Craig. Horror story set in Victorian Glasgow written by a colleague of mine but it’s honestly an excellent book. • I grew up in Easterhouse before the Fort was built and Garthamlock always had the reputation of being dodgy compared to Easterhouse. Probably more down to ignorance on my part as my gran stayed in Craigend and I used to think that was a nice area but apparently it's a shite hole. by harg7769 (Mon 11th Dec 2023 6:55am)
