  • I'm looking for a recycling centre to pick up some paints as well. Looks like there used to be a RePaint scheme in Glasgow at one point. But I can't find the location anymore. • Do you have any experience of what the cost could be? Is it likely to be the upper and of the quote on the HB report or higher? by juliushibert (Sun 10th Oct 2021 7:39pm)
  • Do you mean in term of resale value or in terms of savings to heating costs? by juliushibert (Sun 10th Oct 2021 7:38pm)
  • That's really helpful. Thank you. I've read a number of threads with people saying they replaced their windows in conservation areas with composite windows like you mentioned. Citing that it's relatively unenforced and others have done the same on their street. So if GCC catches you out, you could use the defense that everyone else should be penalised? However, that doesn't sounds that legally water tight to me. And what happens if you sold the property? Wouldn't it come up that the windows had been incorrectly replaced in a conservation area or that not permission was sought from GCC to use a material that isn't like for like? by juliushibert (Sun 10th Oct 2021 9:15pm)
  • I think it's unlikely wed move within <5 years. So good to know it's.not a totally wasted investment. by juliushibert (Sun 10th Oct 2021 9:33pm)
  • 👍 thank you. by juliushibert (Sun 10th Oct 2021 9:31pm)
  • This is the confusing part. I've noticed exactly the same, often completely new frames like you've noted. I don't understand how they don't get caught out when coming to sell, either by the GCC or by the buyer asking for a big discount due to the windows not meeting the local conservation regs. by juliushibert (Sun 10th Oct 2021 10:47pm)
  • That's not good. What did they mis-sell you? by juliushibert (Sun 1st May 2022 11:55am)
  • What exactly did they do to mess it up? I'm curious. by juliushibert (Sun 1st May 2022 1:10pm)
  • Are they Scotland based? And did they help you find a mortgage for a Scottish property? I've dealt with England based brokers before and found they're not very helpful when it comes to Scottish property market. The lenders they work with often won't lend on many Scottish properties especially tenements. by juliushibert (Sun 1st May 2022 1:10pm)
  • Ah thank you. That's sounds very encouraging. How did he end up getting you a bigger mortgage loan? Did you have a large deposit amount? by juliushibert (Sun 1st May 2022 4:36pm)
  • Please send me the details. That would be helpful. by juliushibert (Sun 1st May 2022 10:22pm)

  • What happened? I always wondered, you see people cycling road bicycles or hybrid bikes on icey days. Always think it must be just as dangerous? What if you hit ice or black ice on very thin tyres. by juliushibert (Tue 22nd Nov 2022 7:52pm)
