  • I've lived and worked in various parts of Scotland and genuinely didn't know this was a thing. by kylegif (Fri 15th Jan 2021 8:08am)
  • This might sound weird but it could be a neighbour nearby operating a pulley if they have one. They can squeak a bit which could sound like sawing once it's travelled through the walls. 10 seconds a time is about right too for moving it up and down. My two pence anyway, let us know if you ever find out for sure! by kylegif (Fri 21st May 2021 8:07am)
  • Your complaint is with the letting agency. As a tenant you have no relationship with the factor and nor should you. Keep chasing the letting agency / landlord to resolve this and don't allow them to redirect you to the factor as that has nothing to do with you. You pay rent to live in a secure home, it is the landlord's responsibility to ensure the property allows for that, not the factor's. Seek advice from an organisation like Shelter or your nearest Citizens Advice Bureau if you aren't getting anywhere. by kylegif (Thu 21st Oct 2021 3:41pm)
  • So, without a lot more information, the collective Glasgow Reddit people will struggle to answer this objectively for you. There's a reason you are here, start with that. Did you choose Glasgow because of family history, friends, cultural affiliation? All I can say is that I chose Glasgow as my home because it is a vibrant, welcoming place which is neither too big nor too small. Your parameters will differ, choose what feels right for you and your partner. I wish you all the best with your decision. by kylegif (Sun 24th Oct 2021 11:48pm)
  • Just to say, Slaters will likely do it if you ask but it's impossible for them to get a "jeans" finish at the bottom. So they might look a bit odd. Sorry I can't help with the original query though! by kylegif (Fri 10th Dec 2021 6:26pm)
  • Hey so I know the breakfast you're talking about, it was excellent. I've managed to make it myself at home reasonably easily, there was nothing particularly fancy about the ingredients if I remember correctly. I think I managed to get everything I needed from Lidl. The only thing is the wee smoked sausages, I had to buy big ones and cut them up. But I've seen smaller ones in the shops. Anyway, worth a shot until you make it to Copenhagen. by kylegif (Tue 19th Apr 2022 8:08am)

  • It might not be the same thing but as someone who moved to Glasgow from the countryside up north, a long time ago now, I think Glasgow has a "city" smell that you don't really get anywhere else in Scotland. I can't even describe it really, not organic either really and not the distilleries. It's almost like the smell of wet concrete / tarmac after it's rained but less intense. Anyway, I will join you one day as weirdos who sniff Glasgow. by kylegif (Sat 21st May 2022 7:50am)
  • The South Lanarkshire website isn't very easy to navigate sometimes but here is the link to order new recycling bins: https://www.southlanarkshire.gov.uk/info/200156/bins_and_recycling/1669/damaged_and_new_bins by kylegif (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 10:15pm)
  • No worries. I had to do this myself within the last year when my burgundy bin went missing (assume chewed up by the lorry). Anyway, it took quite a while (a couple of months) but got it eventually - just dropped off in the driveway one day. by kylegif (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 11:00pm)
  • Might be! I'm south east of it but it's possible it's travelling west too. The noise is almost all bass. Don't mind neighbours having a party now and then but this is an insane amount of noise to come from a venue. by kylegif (Sat 6th Aug 2022 10:13pm)
  • THIS ^^ The services are reduced, fewer people use them, justifying further reductions, until we are left with a shell of an urban train network. It's so depressing because it's all so predictable, and results from incompetence rather than anything deliberate I think. by kylegif (Wed 10th Aug 2022 11:27am)
  • As others have said, there is a baseball team in Glasgow and they've linked to the site. However, I just want to say that you might want to consider playing softball too if you're a complete beginner? We have a healthy league of 10 teams in Glasgow - see www.glasgowsoftball.co.uk - new players are always welcome. If you want to come along to a practice at some point, just send me a message and I'll give you details 👍 by kylegif (Fri 14th Apr 2023 6:04pm)
