  • Council should get in some hawks to scare the fuckers off. They're protected animals (fuck knows why) so unfortunately cannot just be outright killed. by loonthink (Sun 18th Jul 2021 11:17pm)
  • My grandparents were wed here many moons ago. Sad to see. Also highly suspicious. by loonthink (Wed 28th Jul 2021 3:06pm)

  • Either sounds like an attempted scam or these two fucked up and were trying to resolve the issue without going through the proper channels. by loonthink (Wed 29th Sep 2021 4:56pm)
  • Potentially pickpockets. A common strategy they use is for one person to distract you whilst the other goes for your phone, purse etc. I would call 101 and pass on whatever information you can. by loonthink (Sat 2nd Oct 2021 9:31pm)
  • You should check out r/glasgowdnd there's usually a few meetups or events planned on it. by loonthink (Mon 25th Oct 2021 10:59pm)

  • Curious that BAE is keen to make such investments with the genuine prospect of independence still on the table. Suggests they either don't think it will happen or don't see it as an issue for their future operations. by loonthink (Sun 14th Nov 2021 10:27pm)
  • I'd have the board on the gallows but this seems a bit less drastic. by loonthink (Mon 6th Dec 2021 6:33pm)
  • Did the tour about 2 months ago. They hoped to have it done by the end of 2022. by loonthink (Mon 20th Dec 2021 7:57pm)
  • So long as they are privately run I will try and rip them off as much as possible. Wouldn't do it if our trains were publicly owned. by loonthink (Sat 8th Jan 2022 5:57pm)
  • The actual 12th is generally fine because all the bigots are in Ireland that day. by loonthink (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 10:06am)
  • I live near Eastwood Park Theatre. If you are looking to get some drinks or a meal before/after the show, I have a few local recommendations. The New Turban at Eastwood Toll is a fantastic Indian. Family run and has proper old school curryhouse vibes. Excellent food and service. Southside in Giffnock is a very nice bar/restaurant to sit in. Their menu is currently a range of tapas which are really good value for money. There is also a new Japanese restaurant called Nigiri in Giffnock. I've yet to try it but have heard good reviews from mates. The Orchard Park is the most popular local pub. They do a pretty wide menu and the food is generally good. Can be very busy at the weekend though. by loonthink (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 10:12am)
  • You have a couple of options. Easiest way would be walking to Giffnock train station and getting a train to Glasgow Central. Last train is generally about 11pm. You could also get the number 38 bus from the main road which will take you right to George Square. For taxis I would recommend using the local firm Eastwood Mearns. They're a bit more expensive than GlasgoCabs but much more reliable in my experience. Probably looking at around £15 fare. by loonthink (Sat 22nd Jan 2022 4:12pm)
  • A lot of chippies would probably make one for you if you brought in a frozen vegan pizza for them to batter. by loonthink (Sat 29th Jan 2022 3:20pm)
  • I am a teacher now but worked my fair share of jobs as a student and graduate. Best Morrisons - Worked in three different stores in the Glasgow area and always found them a decent company, particularly as a student. They were flexible with hours, paid fairly and just treated staff well generally. Royal Mail - I was in the mail centre. Easy work with decent pay. Most chilled warehouse type work I've done. Worst G4S - Zero hour contracts. Hardly any notice when they did have a shift available. Minimal training and direction while working. Capita - Worked in their call centres. The job was inbound sales but was not advertised as such. My supervisors were decent guys, but the higher up managers were just intolerable people who saw workers as a means to improve their bonuses and nothing more. by loonthink (Tue 1st Feb 2022 3:11pm)
  • He was still working there in 2019, that was the last I was there. by loonthink (Tue 15th Mar 2022 10:32am)
  • There's a big place that does all the tourist tat on Argyle Street across the road from the MandS. Used to be a place on the road between central and Buchanan Street which did the same, not sure if it's still there. by loonthink (Fri 25th Mar 2022 5:01pm)
  • Accents evolve over time, and Glaswegian is no exception. So I would say it's changing, rather than dying out. by loonthink (Mon 6th Jun 2022 5:09pm)
  • You will need to pass unit assessments before you could sit the Higher exam. I'm not sure about fees, so I won't quote you anything in that regard. Best place to contact would be your local school and they will be able to give you full details. by loonthink (Tue 9th Aug 2022 6:03pm)

  • Would highly recommend. 38 bus will take you pretty much straight to it. by loonthink (Mon 20th Nov 2023 2:33pm)
