  • I was going to comment that there is no comparable city in England and Glasgow is smiles better but actually Liverpool is a pretty good shout for layout and people*. *Glasgow has less racism by ret001 (Thu 11th Jun 2020 12:24am)
  • History is written by the victor. Statues and monuments are used to fortify those writings. Currently, there is a movement which wants to bring transparency to those writings. Part of that is to remove these statues of individuals who have been given this positive attention despite their history and actions. I don't agree with the removal or vandalism of statues. Instead, leave the statue and install a sign on every single statue of whichever fucked up thing that person did. Leave it as a reminder of the true past. by ret001 (Sat 13th Jun 2020 12:20am)

  • Shame we don't have a better subway system. Probably won't ever have any type of underground system with the costs involved past the circle we have at the moment. by ret001 (Wed 15th Jul 2020 1:06pm)
  • I know people love it - it's a good atmosphere. But for me the idea of street food is to be cheaper than a main. Prices are a little to high for what is imo. by ret001 (Sun 16th Aug 2020 11:43am)
  • Unfortunately the law changed in Scotland and these private fines do have teeth to them now and will be somewhat supported in court. Of course it’s probably unlikely one fine will result in court action (although not impossible). I wouldn’t risk it and just pay within the discounted period IF you are not able to have it cancelled quickly. If you have receipts for purchases spanning the 4 hours I’m sure Tesco or silverburn management would be likely to cancel the ticket for a good customer of theirs. by ret001 (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 8:20am)

  • I can't see where it says that it's not in force yet... - it's legislation not a bill, it was enacted in 2019. The law has changed. by ret001 (Sat 24th Sep 2022 10:00am)

  • If you go to a shop in a pollockshields called Shandar, they make and sell a variety of Pakistani/Indian sweets. It’s freshly made and better than the types that are prepackaged. They also sell a personal favourite which is called a samosa salad - basically samosa, salad and sauces by ret001 (Sun 27th Aug 2023 2:49pm)
  • You’re paying for the expertise mate and the overheads and also they know they can take the piss and people will pay out of ignorance or desperation. But overheads. And don’t forget tax that won’t get paid. I’d get more quotes if I was you. by ret001 (Fri 8th Sep 2023 2:59pm)
