  • Partick (or Thornwood ) and Kelvindale are both fine, Kelvindale a bit further away but probably better value for money. All three areas fine and very cycleable to / from W Regent St (basically car free routes all the way if that's your thing). Welcome to Glasgow, hope you have a blast. by riderism (Tue 13th Aug 2019 2:32am)
  • Northcote patient for nearly 30 years and no complaints whatsoever. I'd be interested why you're thinking of going anywhere else, Apart from moving somewhere else, I can't imagine doing such a thing. by riderism (Mon 18th Jan 2021 12:36am)
  • Several times for several reasons, including abseiling off it. Yeah, it's nice. I did not arrange this photograph, even the orientation of the label. Others can arrange the orientation of the tower. by riderism (Mon 1st Feb 2021 10:46pm)
  • Maybe because people disagree with you. FWIW I quite liked the games murals, esp. the swimming one under the Kingston Bridge (don't know if that was AP or not) but I wouldn't say any of them need any special preservation, they've dated pretty quickly. by riderism (Mon 1st Feb 2021 11:08pm)
  • Evening al. So there's 50 days to go before the election and I wanted to speak about things with nae politicians involved for the foreseeable future, and I'm trying to raise cash for suicide prevention and child safeguarding. So subscribes would be really helpful. Could you please have a look and tell me what you think? It's too rough and too long but at least it's live in the timescale, there will be more. Thanks in advance for your advice and input. by riderism (Tue 16th Mar 2021 10:09pm)
  • Colin IS a legend, and does a mean sash cord replacement. by riderism (Tue 16th Mar 2021 10:13pm)
  • £3.90 to £4.50 depending on where I am W End, weirdly I switch between T and Guinness by riderism (Thu 5th Jan 2023 12:08am)
  • That doesn't sound like great factoring to me, I'd definitely discuss with them. Sympathies on your nightmare neighbour, our close is pretty good at the moment but somebody's moving out soon and there's always the possibility of getting a duffer replacement, the joys of tenemental living, shame you have the emphasis on the mental bit. by riderism (Thu 5th Jan 2023 2:22pm)
  • If you'd consider a bar, Tennents is my alternative office when I'm home, nice and quiet round about now, no music, just background chat, and nobody bothers you with a laptop, in fact I'll be there soon. Tbh I find most coffee shops in the W End a bit 'stooly' if that makes sense, I prefer cushions to hard chairs / stools. Atrium in Cresswell St and, Naked Soup in Kersland St are OK. Offshore on the other side of the Uni has a couple of comfier spots. Haven't been there for a bit though so can't give a recent coffee review. Sorry you've had a crap time, kudos to you for making a positive effort to get over it. The absolute best year of your life awaits, all you have to do is let it happen .... by riderism (Thu 5th Jan 2023 2:31pm)
  • Love the school house during Tour De France, I'll often meet the son there for an outside pint and watch the stage finale. by riderism (Thu 5th Jan 2023 7:43pm)
  • App is a great idea whose time may not have passed, I'm sure there are lots of us who would rather support independents than chains by riderism (Thu 5th Jan 2023 7:40pm)

  • Apparently last year's first year intake at Glasgow Uni was 15% higher than any before, with no new accommodation built ... you can see how that puts pressure on the student accommodation market. That said OP it's a great place to study, I'm sure there are wose places with worse hassles and you won't regret choosing Glasgow if you do. by riderism (Sat 18th Feb 2023 9:58pm)

  • As a cyclist I do have some sympathy with home and business owners who have to put up with the noise and mess of cycle lane construction but I do suspect we’ll all look back when they’ve been completed and wonder what the stramash was all about. by riderism (Thu 27th Apr 2023 4:23pm)

  • Unlikely, I'm now going to the Howson exhibition, that'll be a barrel of fkn laughs. by riderism (Tue 6th Jun 2023 12:26am)
  • The hive in the north kelvin meadow on Clouston St lost its swarm a few days ago when the Queen buzzed off, maybe they just took a wee wander. by riderism (Sun 11th Jun 2023 7:37am)
  • I've worked all over the world and it pains me a great deal to say it but Glasgow Airport is a fkn embarassment and a shameful point of entry to the country for anybody unlucky enough to experience it as their first port of call. by riderism (Thu 27th Jul 2023 11:52pm)
