  • If you have a garden, you can try growing fruits that are perfect to grow in the Scottish climate, such as strawberries and raspberries. If you can’t find seeds in a local medium-to-large sized supermarket, then you’ll find them in places like B&Q or a local garden centre by ruibinn (Wed 20th Jul 2022 11:00pm)
  • The charmingly weird local humour of the city isn’t exactly a secret to outsiders by ruibinn (Fri 22nd Jul 2022 2:07pm)
  • It’s temporary accommodation, so most of the families on the ship should be moving into brick-and-mortar housing after a few months or so by ruibinn (Sun 4th Sep 2022 12:06am)
  • > Defos a Higher Moddies pupil here who thinks he’s got the world figured out A Higher Moddies pupil would be able to make a better contribution than “I pump your ma” at least by ruibinn (Fri 21st Oct 2022 7:59pm)
  • You should look at the schools that are closest to you - Glasgow is a big city, and considering the unreliability (and cost - I don’t think they can get an NEC until after three years of residency) of the bus system, you probably won’t want them going too far out. Contact the schools themselves, and ask around here and in places such as Facebook groups about schools in more specific areas. Any and all schools should be immigrant-friendly, especially for Latinos as race/ethnicity is one of the categories protected by the Equality Act 2010. Lots of (predominantly non-denominational) schools embed diversity and anti-bullying in their ethos, so there’s no chance your child is going to stick out like a sore thumb other than being the quintessential “new kid”. Only thing they’ll probably get slagged for may be having the easiest time with Higher Spanish, if they choose to go that far. by ruibinn (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 10:16am)
  • No, I’m speaking from experience. I went to a Catholic school and they literally only just started doing this stuff in my final year. Even then, they were having teachers proclaiming that God loves LGBTQ+ people at events, while refusing to address that they were teaching the incredibly homophobic tracts of the Catechism in RE that would tell most people otherwise. Genuinely stuff beyond parody by ruibinn (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 3:48pm)
  • I think a mysterious guy who killed women in the late 60s would most likely be a goner by now, Aldoc by ruibinn (Sat 5th Nov 2022 8:57pm)
  • So what happens if you’re a Romanian female? by ruibinn (Sat 19th Nov 2022 5:28pm)
  • The Print Studio exhibition going on in the gallery itself is better worth your time and money than all this commercialised pish, anyways by ruibinn (Fri 25th Nov 2022 10:22pm)
  • Which is a fair point, but you can find vegan alternatives to all of those items by ruibinn (Tue 13th Dec 2022 3:26pm)

  • A 24-hour Waterstones would be a fantastic night spot for neurodivergent people who aren’t brave enough to go into the clubs. ~~(The “people” is me. Just me. Only me.)~~ by ruibinn (Thu 29th Dec 2022 10:39pm)
  • Seconded. Can’t find any information about the 4(A)? by ruibinn (Wed 11th Jan 2023 9:24pm)
  • It’s not called chicken *katsu* curry for nothing. The sauce isn’t just a “chippy curry sauce”, it’s meant to be fruitier, like the Japanese tonkatsu sauce (an under-appreciated sauce IMHO!) by ruibinn (Sat 14th Jan 2023 9:47am)

  • I’ve been in there before, it’s definitely accessible to anyone. Wouldn’t be so sure about the Tinderbox but non-students can use the study space and food court by ruibinn (Sun 15th Jan 2023 4:20pm)
  • 100% do the Kelvingrove and see the exhibition that’s on the now, alongside everything else. Haven’t been to the Riverside in years but that’s also a fantastic shout. by ruibinn (Sun 15th Jan 2023 7:36pm)
  • > Kids like these are the victims So a defenceless baby isn’t a victim because the kid’s had a tough upbringing? Good job, Sherlock, you’ve cracked the case, the boy is innocent. by ruibinn (Wed 18th Jan 2023 10:27pm)
