  • If it’s in “the attic” you have to go round the back (behind what used to be pommes frites), I was there for a gig last weekend and was stood outside the front door like a prick until some other folk came along. by supomice (Mon 11th Feb 2019 4:16pm)
  • Anywhere new/interesting in town to have dinner on saturday? Forgive me I don’t get out much by supomice (Thu 28th Feb 2019 6:53pm)
  • Not sure how helpful this will be, I graduated in biochemistry from Glasgow last year, so I did the first two years the same as the micro degree. The biology courses are all very well run and micro is certainly one of the more rigorous choices. There are biological science jobs in Scotland but most of the people I know have gone on to do masters or phds, with only a handful ending up in industry or even completely unrelated work. If you have any specific questions about micro at Glasgow I’d be happy to try and help! by supomice (Fri 1st Mar 2019 9:26pm)
  • I noticed it too when I moved up, def not only an east coast thing, I’m from Dumfries & Galloway and everyone says ken by supomice (Tue 19th Mar 2019 8:27am)
  • I went through the 4 years of my degree without once studying in the library, cba with it at all. I used to go to the Fraser building or downstairs in the reading room. by supomice (Mon 22nd Apr 2019 1:55pm)
  • Knew this was coming. I was lucky enough to get my refund already but two of my pals are still waiting after requesting refunds weeks ago. by supomice (Tue 4th Jun 2019 9:52pm)

  • Ugh these used to show up in my old flat, we didn’t even have carpets but they seemed to like living under the kickboards in the kitchen. Horrible things. by supomice (Wed 30th Oct 2019 10:57am)
  • Do this, easy peasy by supomice (Mon 27th Jan 2020 8:43pm)
  • Felt a bit crap since Sunday, dizzy and achey. Developed a cough last night and feel like rubbish today. Got nothing but grief off work for phoning in sick, called NHS 24 who agreed I should be staying home, relayed this information to my boss who obviously didn’t believe me. Absolutely beyond the pale, never been more fucking outraged in my life. by supomice (Thu 16th Apr 2020 3:19pm)
  • Aye I’ve gone through that now, handy thing to have if I need it thanks. They’ve taken on loads of temporary staff so its not as if they’re going to be short. Mind boggles. by supomice (Thu 16th Apr 2020 3:29pm)
  • Been in isolation since Thursday when I started to have symptoms, feeling about 80% better today so I’m doubting whether I had it at all, probably just a bad cold? Really felt awful the first two days but it’s been a pretty quick turnaround. by supomice (Mon 20th Apr 2020 12:24pm)
  • It’s so weird isn’t it! Like usually if you can’t taste with a cold it’s because you’re all blocked up? My nose was blocked for about a day but it’s back to normal now by supomice (Mon 20th Apr 2020 2:19pm)
  • Day 3 of not being able to smell or taste anything and it’s fucking Shit by supomice (Wed 22nd Apr 2020 5:20pm)
  • Yeah I actually think I’m at the tail end now. Aches and pains since last Sunday, fever and cough started a week ago now but gone now. Miserable. by supomice (Wed 22nd Apr 2020 6:08pm)
  • Got the 90 from parkhead to ikea once, nice way to kill an hour by supomice (Fri 24th Apr 2020 12:43am)
  • I work in a supermarket and we’ve had to get a lot stricter handing the lanyards out which is unfortunate. They’re for people with invisible disabilities, and fair enough if people can’t wear a mask because of COPD or asthma etc but it’s not the intended use of the lanyard to signal that you can’t wear a mask. by supomice (Mon 10th Aug 2020 3:59pm)
  • Usually about 2 hard boiled eggs peeled and chopped up in a cup, best with a spoon of butter mixed in too 😊 by supomice (Wed 16th Dec 2020 11:01am)
  • Hmm I know if you’re in certain parts of town you can feel the ground rumble when it’s going by, I’d be concerned about that by supomice (Wed 23rd Dec 2020 12:00pm)
  • I work for Tesco, you’re right the store managers are salaried, far more than £11 an hour by supomice (Thu 14th Jan 2021 2:08pm)
  • Maybe they’re exempt? Company policy can’t override that by supomice (Tue 23rd Feb 2021 11:27am)
  • Fine I think. I have a tiny prescription for one eye and Specsavers have been hounding me to book my eye test. by supomice (Fri 5th Mar 2021 1:46pm)
  • Lived in parkhead when they came down and I could see them from my living room window. Really interesting to watch them come down bit by bit. by supomice (Sun 4th Apr 2021 5:01pm)
  • Fair enough but I’m similar to OP, I know my dog isn’t friendly to other dogs so I keep him on the lead around others precisely for this reason. We’re not bothering anyone minding our own business, it’s not anyone’s (or dog’s!) personal right to have an interaction. by supomice (Sat 29th May 2021 10:23pm)
  • Deborah Pow at Untold is great, and a lovely person in general by supomice (Thu 8th Jul 2021 11:56pm)
  • Last time I was getting picked up I took the shuttle bus to the long stay car park and my friend picked me up there. Free for 30 mins I think. by supomice (Mon 30th Aug 2021 8:09am)
  • First time seeing them! Been into MCR since 2005/6 but never managed to see them live. My friend and I are going to relive our 13 year old dreams! by supomice (Sat 28th May 2022 6:46pm)
  • Thanks this looks like a good shout! Have you done this before? Worried I could miss last subway. by supomice (Mon 6th Jun 2022 7:03pm)
  • Hi OP! I’m actually moving to Dumfries too soon (teaching job). I’ve lived Galloway most of my life so quite familiar with Dumfries town. Dumfries is a small town but it is the largest in the region. Town centre is suffering from closures etc just as similar places are around the country. I think you would find a student job fairly easily. Have a look on indeed.com there will be something, McDonald’s/greggs/supermarkets (Morrisons, Tesco x2, Aldi) are often advertising. It’s handy Glasgow isn’t too far away but too far for regular travelling. Galloway has a lot to offer if you’re interested in the environment, hillwalking etc. by supomice (Mon 13th Jun 2022 12:22pm)
  • The Cure had been on the night before the Foos that year, I remember it getting really muddy towards the end of the night by supomice (Tue 28th Jun 2022 11:10am)
  • I think it’ll be tough. I was at green day last night and I parked my car down near ibrox and didn’t get back to it until near 11.45. It takes AGES to get out of bellahouston. Unless you leave before encore? by supomice (Thu 30th Jun 2022 12:44pm)
  • I parked beside some flats at the bottom of whitefield road where it meets edmiston drive by supomice (Fri 1st Jul 2022 1:25am)
  • Was there on Thursday and there were some big queues to check-in but not like in the news etc. we checked in online so I’d suggest that if you can! by supomice (Sun 10th Jul 2022 6:33pm)
  • I just recently moved to Dumfries for work, definitely had the best luck on Facebook - search for groups called something like “Dumfries property for rent/sale” and put a post up. Incidentally I think if you look up “Dumfries student accommodation” there are flats in town rented out specifically to students (not halls). by supomice (Fri 12th Aug 2022 8:37pm)
  • Speak to the uni. I know UoG is having its own problems with accommodation at the moment but they might be able to point you in the right direction. by supomice (Mon 29th Aug 2022 7:13pm)
  • Used to work for D’Nisi (another branch) and can confirm their coffee is good stuff. Ask for the “guest” coffee if they don’t offer it to you, but they should! by supomice (Wed 21st Sep 2022 7:15pm)
  • Can anyone explain why it’s not funded by GCC? by supomice (Sun 23rd Oct 2022 9:44pm)
  • Yes, go upstairs and sit anywhere. There are workers around and will be able to keep you right. Warning if you end up right at the top it gets very very hot. by supomice (Tue 10th Jan 2023 12:10pm)
  • I’d also say just keep checking the pages the tickets were sold on originally, they often release more closer to the time (not resale). I got tickets this week to a gig that was listed as sold out for ages. by supomice (Sun 22nd Jan 2023 2:17am)
  • Great gig! by supomice (Fri 24th Mar 2023 6:18pm)
  • You can use it but it caps at £12 iirc by supomice (Thu 18th May 2023 10:13am)
  • My seats were £75 each, the cheap ones will be right up the top. by supomice (Thu 29th Jun 2023 3:42pm)
  • Keep an eye on the official sale channels, often nearer the gig they release extra by supomice (Tue 26th Sep 2023 10:08pm)
  • One of my pals said there was a 4 drink rule at the hydro new order gig a few weeks ago by supomice (Mon 16th Oct 2023 10:17am)
  • Keep an eye on hotels in Edinburgh. I was going to do the same thing but a room at premier inn in haymarket popped up one day for £200-ish and I snapped it up. by supomice (Sat 28th Oct 2023 5:47pm)
  • Still don’t get how this works, every time I’ve been on a bus recently the “tap off” machine doesn’t even seem to be on? Nothing happens when you tap it. by supomice (Tue 5th Dec 2023 9:48am)
