  • In Shawlands this morning and a Fire Engine couldn't get past because a few cars were parked in the middle of the road, and others were parked poorly. I thought the Fire service were allowed to just push through, but instead they sat with their siren and horn on. Eventually a few of them shoogled a car out the way so they could turn around. But bad parking could be very dangerous for someone in trouble by BananaH15 (Thu 7th Nov 2019 7:50am)
  • We're all fucked. I don't understand why people vote for a guy that is islamaphobic, homophobic, racist and has never helped someone up in his life. But in massive numbers they have by BananaH15 (Thu 12th Dec 2019 11:26pm)
  • Good luck, just try and treat it like a chat you would have normally. Be polite. Take a few seconds before each answer to think about what you're about to say, this is totally normal in an interview so don't feel self conscience doing it. You'll be grand by BananaH15 (Thu 9th Jan 2020 8:38am)
  • Yeah, wtf are you all on about. by BananaH15 (Thu 30th Jan 2020 7:36pm)
  • I don't think you need 3 to make it worth while, if you have 2 it makes more sense to get a taxi since you won't need to get to the bus stop either. This is a complete failing from the city/ transport infrastructure that this bus service is only value for money if you're travelling alone and staying in the very centre of town. However I do know from someone at First this is their most profitable route by far, no surprises really. But this means they won't be changing their tactics anytime soon by BananaH15 (Mon 10th Feb 2020 8:34pm)
  • It's scary that we're moving so far from the norm. But scenes like this give me hope that we're taking this seriously which will help us get back to the norm sooner by BananaH15 (Wed 18th Mar 2020 10:01pm)
  • The area of Queens park between the boat shed, the house and across from the BP garage is overgrown and hilly, although its a nice wee walk if you can dodge the dropped cans etc. In this area you can also see a lot of brickwork in the soil, was this area previously used for anything or are they just old paths? by BananaH15 (Sat 4th Apr 2020 8:12am)
  • Great shout. I had a look at a 1898 map and there does look like there was a building where you can see brick work. Thanks for the recommendation by BananaH15 (Sat 4th Apr 2020 8:34am)
  • Fantastic work, thanks for the info. Very interesting. I wonder what the city gave to the families to recieve all that land for public use by BananaH15 (Sun 5th Apr 2020 12:17pm)
  • Skirving street Indian in Shawlands won best Indian in Scotland in 2018. It's a great restaurant and take away by BananaH15 (Mon 4th May 2020 9:36pm)
  • It's for this. There were 9 let off by BananaH15 (Mon 18th May 2020 9:29pm)
  • I didn't see any pictures of this. If it's true it would be irresponsible, but again I didn't see any pictures of congregations of people by BananaH15 (Tue 19th May 2020 9:58am)
  • Go to a different park every weekend. Glasgow has so many and many feel quite different due to their geography and the surrounding area. by BananaH15 (Sun 26th Jul 2020 11:37am)
  • Theres. Great Poke bowl place in there now. I'm like a rice bowl but with loads of added extra bits. Top kwaliti by BananaH15 (Sun 26th Jul 2020 11:35am)
  • Thanks for the suggestions folks. We'll see how that weather shakes up this morning, but we'll not rust. by BananaH15 (Thu 30th Jul 2020 7:22am)
  • There's some work that needs done to the property that would stop us from selling in the short term. So considering our options by BananaH15 (Fri 14th Aug 2020 6:59pm)
  • I love wearing my kilt and don't wear anything underneath. The only trouble I've had with folk lifting it was when I was on a night in Newcastle. That wasn't nice though by BananaH15 (Fri 21st Aug 2020 2:43pm)
  • The conversion of the old Victoria hospital in battlefield feels like it last saw any work last decade let alone when the work began. The new station does look good though, imo by BananaH15 (Tue 15th Sep 2020 7:37pm)
  • I've seen a couple of diggers in there. Nothing to get to excited about so I'm not so sure. by BananaH15 (Tue 15th Sep 2020 8:10pm)
  • Nanika on Viccy road is top quality east Asian dishes. They have a good Insta account, worth a follow by BananaH15 (Wed 18th Nov 2020 11:11am)
  • I hadn't heard of this, do you have any details of this or is it just chat? I don't know enough a bit MSG to comment on that or how pervelant it is in other take away food, above the standard 'MSG is bad'. by BananaH15 (Wed 18th Nov 2020 1:25pm)
  • I've not got Facebook so that's not an option, but thanks. Where do I put them in for Freecycle? by BananaH15 (Thu 17th Dec 2020 8:11pm)
  • Thanks very much. Wasn't aware of them by BananaH15 (Fri 18th Dec 2020 6:33am)
  • Thanks very much folks. A wee girl will be very happy when we get to go on a trip by BananaH15 (Tue 12th Jan 2021 1:34pm)
  • No, continue what you're doing. Maybe stick up a sign of the door saying that others must lock the door, because it's a matter of insurance claims. It's not btw by BananaH15 (Sun 21st Mar 2021 3:00pm)
  • Worth trying out Google translate app. It translates whatever your camera is pointing at, very cool. But others in the group have already given you the info by BananaH15 (Thu 25th Mar 2021 6:02pm)
  • That's the system for houses in Glasgow, but the green has been moved to 3 weeks. I've just moved out a tenement, it was way worse there as they're not given anywhere near the same amount of bins per property. by BananaH15 (Wed 31st Mar 2021 2:18pm)
  • In our tenement we had old steel bins which had the bottoms rusted out of them until I asked and paid for replacements. But the bin men just moved them to other properties that didn't have the new bins. Very frustrating by BananaH15 (Wed 31st Mar 2021 5:09pm)
  • They are fascists and been proven racist by the courts. You pal are either a racist, fascist or have been swept up and not done a lot of thinking. Also, yura tit by BananaH15 (Sat 8th May 2021 9:06pm)
  • I'm glad it's going ahead to some degree. But it's also so piss to see that they're forcing tables and having so few folk at it. Without covid it would have been rows deep and jumping. A shame by BananaH15 (Thu 10th Jun 2021 2:13pm)
  • To clarify, not really got an issue with their approach, it's necessary. It's just a bit crap to see this when it should be a rammy by BananaH15 (Thu 10th Jun 2021 4:16pm)
  • I think it looks fine, but would be keen to ensure the flats are a bit more than a basic small 2 bedroom set up. I know nothing about the set up, but the folk that are going to do the redevelopment are usually out for a quick buck. A rooftop garden would be nice for them. Does anyone know if they will keep the car park? Parking in Shawlands is a nightmare, it'll be 10x worse if there's 500 new residents without anywhere to park. It looks like there are fewer shops in the new development, and all quite small. If you want to encourage shawlands to grow I think improving that area of the development would be good. by BananaH15 (Fri 11th Jun 2021 7:35am)
  • Go to Oban, up McCaigs tower and the sun sets over island of Kerrera. A great view. The Obanites love it so much all their social media posts are about sub sets in Oban. It's about 2.25 hours from Glasgow and a nice weekend away spot too by BananaH15 (Mon 5th Jul 2021 7:41pm)
  • There's a few machines at the BP between Thornliebank and Auldhouse by BananaH15 (Sun 18th Jul 2021 7:42am)
  • Go try the mini golf in town. No one needs to be good or bad at Mini golf, decent bit of fun and means you can easily get a drink after if things are going well. Just have a good time and it'll come across to them. by BananaH15 (Sun 25th Jul 2021 2:51pm)
  • There's a British heart foundation furniture shop in Shawlands Arcade and another charity furniture shop across from the Argos on Stockwell Street. You can hire big transit vans from Hertz24/7 using an app by the hour too. Might be useful to get the stuff in one go to your new place by BananaH15 (Tue 27th Jul 2021 2:25pm)
  • Could you not just buy a saw and cut it into small enough peices to fit into your car? Even with a couple of journeys it will be cheaper. The 3rd parties are probably costing as much as it costs to take a commercial vehicle into the dump. So the saw or the council are your best bets by BananaH15 (Sun 15th Aug 2021 10:11pm)
  • Open the tap slowly until you hear air escaping. You don't need to take the whole nut/tap out to do this by BananaH15 (Tue 17th Aug 2021 2:12pm)
  • There's good parking at Rouken Glen Park and Pollok Park (parking closed at the weekend though). They're great parks to wander through. Queens Park is good too, near a few train stations and close to Bungo, Shawlands and Vicy Road which could be places to live. East end you can wander around Glasgow Green then up to the Barrowlands (Barras) market. Also in the east end you have Duke Street up by Alexandra Park. As said before parking can be a bit shit but most place's outside the west end and central you will be able to find free parking nearby where you are going. by BananaH15 (Thu 26th Aug 2021 2:41pm)
  • Done. I hope you get the 500 by BananaH15 (Fri 12th Nov 2021 9:41am)
  • Bret was really nice, went there recently with pals. It's a wine bar and restaurant. Really nice chicken and potato with cheese. Ka poa is great too. Sticky chicken, again was top quality. 6 by Nico is a cool place for a tasting menu. Paesano is the best pizza in Glasgow but only walk ins by BananaH15 (Fri 12th Nov 2021 10:28am)
  • The Gannet is a bit of a fancy place and might struggle to get in, but it's lovely food. by BananaH15 (Fri 26th Nov 2021 7:08pm)
  • Bar soba by BananaH15 (Tue 30th Nov 2021 5:43am)
  • You can park along any of the streets for free, apart from Kilmarnock Road so charges won't be a problem, but space for parking will be. The area has great transport links, the Southside loop train and Crossmyloof, then you also have the 57, 38 and 3 busses. Def tale public transport to the job. by BananaH15 (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 7:13am)
  • It's about a 4 min walk at most. Should be bearable with a jacket for most folk. by BananaH15 (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 7:28am)
  • I lived in Tantallon Road for years and never had my car keyed or saw an issue with it. However the streets closer to Kilmarnock Road are tighter so its more likely your parked car will be scraped by another one when parking or passing by BananaH15 (Fri 3rd Dec 2021 7:30am)
  • Shawlands person is complaining about house price increases and gentrification of the area, whilst also saying they are looking to buy a flat in Dennistoun by BananaH15 (Fri 28th Jan 2022 2:18pm)
  • Thornliebank is sitting on the couch rough as fuck from the night before and surrounded by posh folk chatting bollocks, but they're too rough to move. by BananaH15 (Fri 28th Jan 2022 6:46pm)
  • There are more ingesting interesting places and better value that Oro in shawlands/ southside by BananaH15 (Tue 1st Feb 2022 12:55pm)
  • I have not looked into the detail, but I'm a bit put off getting a smart meter as there doesn't seem like much benefit for me. So if there's no benefit for me, there must be a benefit for them. Since energy companies are thieving fat cats, I will not be getting a smart meter to help them out by BananaH15 (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 4:43pm)
  • This could be pinned to the top of the sub tbh by BananaH15 (Fri 18th Mar 2022 9:10pm)
  • Newlands is a very nice area in Glasgow. It has a small private primary school, which is very rare, a nice park and a tennis club. It has wide streets and big houses with big gardens. I think the response you are getting is that unless you have done no research of the area you would know it is very safe and affluent area. by BananaH15 (Tue 22nd Mar 2022 11:07am)
  • Not all Rangers fans are Orangemen, but all Orangemen will be Rangers fans. Make of that what you will by BananaH15 (Thu 7th Apr 2022 9:36am)
  • Aye, nae bother. Plenty of Celtic fans in the processions I'm sure. Might as well face up to the fact that the OO is a blight on Scotland and because of the links it has to the Rangers fan base it is a blight on that too. If we don't have orange walks then that would go some way to removing the rump within the rangers support by BananaH15 (Thu 7th Apr 2022 11:38am)
  • Fair enough, if you are being that way inclined yes there are some people in the Scottish OO that won't support Rangers or football. If you want to be pedantic on Reddit, go for it. In reality the percentage that won't support Rangers will be small and so the comment stands as a general rule. There's no point in arguing over that. by BananaH15 (Thu 7th Apr 2022 11:46am)
  • Thanks, I've heard it's decent. by BananaH15 (Sat 16th Apr 2022 7:58pm)

  • This is the easiest way to do it. The app works well to buy the ticket and it's slightly cheaper than buying on the bus. But I think you need another Firstbus app to get their timetable, which is a little annoying by BananaH15 (Tue 7th Jun 2022 9:24am)
  • I disagree with this, I was there about 2/3 months ago and it was great. There was a couple of things broken, but the vast majority was open and working. My kid was 3 she loved it, and so did I by BananaH15 (Tue 14th Jun 2022 5:32am)
  • I never tip delivery drivers. I didn't think it was a thing that really happened in the UK. Might reconsider now by BananaH15 (Tue 19th Jul 2022 10:14pm)

  • Check out "create Paisley " I know about a job coming up there soon, as well as voluntary jobs. And the "SSC" is a seasonal kids charity that has voluntary pieces of work all year round. • Totally fine with adding 5%. I want my councils to work, make my life easier and pay a fair rate. So 5%, with this inflation is totally fair Also, kids shouldn't suffer with shiter education by BananaH15 (Thu 16th Feb 2023 7:54pm)
  • Well then you have a point, but we will need to wait and see if that does occur. However we can't expect the same level of care and output from a council or any organisation if they hold their price the same when their costs go up. Their heating bill has gone through the roof, food for kids meals as well plus any other costs you have seen go up. I think Gladgow City Council is shitly run and fails constantly, but giving them more money is a necessity in my mind. However, I think its understandable that people will not feel its easy to add another 5% onto a bill for a council that has regularly shown they can't organise a pish up in a brewery by BananaH15 (Fri 17th Feb 2023 6:01am)
  • My pal lives near hampden and he says that the football fans are a pain, but around match time they "generally" behave themselves cos of the heightened police presence and the increased likelihood of getting lifted. But on concert nights folk are drinking and passing in the streets a lot more openly. The police are more lenient on the concert fans. There's plenty to rightly moan about when it comes to football fans, but my pal says his life is more of a hassle during gigs than football by BananaH15 (Mon 27th Feb 2023 10:35am)
  • Don't think it does, but read into it what you want by BananaH15 (Mon 27th Feb 2023 10:47am)
  • Absolutely get a trade as this person suggested. You may not make a lot at the start, but if you pick joinery or electrician role you will be in demand forevermore. Also, if you manage to get your own van eventually and can keep yourself busy you'll be in a bigger house and better living state than many of your 'cleverer' school counterparts. Good luck, don't give up cos it's the giving up or lack of effort that will reduce your opportunities just now, not your lack of education. You're young enough to overcome that. by BananaH15 (Fri 10th Mar 2023 7:24am)
  • Good theory in general, but if they do turn violent or rude back to you what do you do next with your kid there. I would say confronting them is the best option but if you have your kids with you it's a far riskier strategy for you to take on. by BananaH15 (Mon 19th Jun 2023 6:55pm)
  • I totally agree, just saying that it's a riskier situation by BananaH15 (Mon 19th Jun 2023 7:59pm)
