  • As a former resident of Paisley I have difficulty arguing with this. University professor from behind the Iron Curtain eventually gave up and left the country when his kids got bricked for *resembling* West Asians. by BlackSandstone (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 4:15pm)
  • Is this real? They renamed the address of the consulate in protest? by BlackSandstone (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 4:37pm)
  • You have straight up made my day. Used to work there and never knew! by BlackSandstone (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 4:43pm)
  • Land registry as the chap said earlier, however the leases act 2012 might muddy the matter a bit if it wasn't actual flat out freehold at the time of the residents death. It may genuinely have reverted to the leaseholder from the 1700s and their decendants. This is literaly what lawyers (or their offices anyway) get paid for, you might be best starting there :) by BlackSandstone (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 4:55pm)
  • Yes, as of 2012/15, but it's possible the resident died outside of the relevant dates to make things really awkward :D by BlackSandstone (Mon 22nd Jun 2020 6:12pm)
  • I do so love I can say, *no, I know it wasn't that particular smoke bombing.* Thanks for checking though :) I actually knew the guy who did it, and I know he told us between 2005 and 2008 as I never saw him after that - hence why I'm trying to nail it down. by BlackSandstone (Mon 6th Jul 2020 3:14pm)
  • It either ended up there from where the ticket stalls are now, or t'other way around with the POV being from around where the burger king is (was?) now. by BlackSandstone (Mon 6th Jul 2020 3:20pm)
  • This is a work of art. by BlackSandstone (Mon 6th Jul 2020 3:44pm)
  • If you haven't been up to Robertson carpark before it's worth the extra few miles on a sunny day. The view is something pretty special. by BlackSandstone (Mon 6th Jul 2020 3:40pm)
  • I wouldn't put it past him for covering for theft, but he was a prototype of the modern dangerously reckless youtube influencer types. Had a whole website of reckless/illegal behaviour videos, anarchist cookbook hard man and such like. Sad to say I met him at college on a digital media course. Honestly I expect he's in prison by now. by BlackSandstone (Mon 6th Jul 2020 4:22pm)
  • Oh i'll cop to styrofoam & turpentine napalm myself :D Once and only once ;\\ by BlackSandstone (Mon 6th Jul 2020 4:28pm)
  • yes, it actually was :O by BlackSandstone (Wed 8th Jul 2020 5:16pm)
  • It fucking was and all. by BlackSandstone (Wed 8th Jul 2020 5:16pm)
  • Worked 2014-2017\~ 1. Surrounding fooderies are decent 2. The walk from central station and/or st. enoch subway is almost all flat until the end, you could (and I know people who did) use a scooter or skateboard quite comfortably to get it in 5-10 minutes. For me the walk was about 20 minutes. I never managed (needed) to figure out the bus schedule but apparently there is one. 3. Second wrt the low level train stop, it takes forever and it's still nearly 4 minutes from the station to the center of the complex 4. Parking is good, we got it down to I think £4/day. The traffic inbound can be quite daunting however, especially if you're coming the M8 way over the squinty bridge. That said the main line into and back out of Glasgow is not recommended if you can avoid it. It's a genuinely nice place to work. If you come in early and stay late (i.e. like a normal technologist) it's very accomodating. If you're walking back and forth from central you also go by a small tesco. by BlackSandstone (Thu 30th Jul 2020 3:40pm)
  • The M77/A77 is probably my 3rd favorite road in Scotland - you can flat out down it both ways nearly all day, and the scenery is pretty exhilarating. Negotiating your way into and out of Ayr and the UWS Campus (ra!) is a bit of a pisser though. Last time I was there (2017?) they were introducing a dysfunctional one way system. But yes, it's quite doable and even modestly enjoyable with the window down and a good sound track. by BlackSandstone (Thu 30th Jul 2020 4:26pm)
  • The largest Games Workshop store in Scotland and the second largest in the UK after the global HQ. Or it did, I heard they moved? by BlackSandstone (Mon 31st Aug 2020 5:24pm)
  • I have nothing but good things to say about the Taychreggan Hotel on Loch Awe. The Garden goes right up to the waterside and the tangible serenity was incredible; as was the night sky where stars were so close and so \*numerous\* that it boggled the mind. It's a 40\~ minute drive from there to 1. the jacobite express what was used in Harry Potter, and serves a full cream tea in victorian style cabins. and 2. The Hollow Mountain, what was once Europe's largest underground hydro-electric facility; it's a humbling sight to behold. You can also feasibly attempt ben nevis in good time from there with a bit of planning. by BlackSandstone (Mon 31st Aug 2020 5:32pm)
