  • Oh wow okay. I'm hoping we will manage to find somewhere that allows pets as we will be there for over 3 years and we really don't want to leave them behind in our home country. I will have a look at the link you gave me, thank you! by Bubu2316 (Wed 15th Sep 2021 2:06pm)
  • Thank you! Will have a look! by Bubu2316 (Wed 15th Sep 2021 2:25pm)
  • Thanks, yes understandable about the cleaning and deposit, I don't mind. I tried western letting but they don't have any properties that are good for us at the moment. Will keep trying with them though. by Bubu2316 (Wed 15th Sep 2021 2:52pm)
  • Thank you! Yes I've been looking for unfurnished places, will start pressing a bit to see if they will budge on places which we like but say no pets. Our cats are very well behaved though one of them will scratch bed sheets or curtains for attention - but this is why I want unfurnished places as she won't do anything to the floors or walls, or even kitchens or bathrooms. Thanks for the advice re the union, I will look into it! by Bubu2316 (Wed 15th Sep 2021 3:18pm)

  • Thank you for actually giving me helpful information other than a 1 liner with no real reasoning behind it. To be honest I've been looking for a place in Glasgow for a long time and I'm not managing to find any place to rent that will accept me at the moment as I'm still looking for work - I'm moving from a new country. My main concern was whether the area was dangerous as I don't mind having to travel a little to get to the centre, but I would like to feel relatively safe in the place where I'm going to live. Also, I don't aim to live there forever, just until I can find a good job and get a better salary, maybe a year or 2 max. Anyways thank you for your help I really appreciate it 😊 by Bubu2316 (Tue 14th Dec 2021 8:27pm)
  • Could you elaborate as to why it is a complete hole though? I'd just like to weigh the pros and cons before signing a rental agreement. by Bubu2316 (Tue 14th Dec 2021 8:35pm)
  • Thanks so much! ❀️ by Bubu2316 (Sun 16th Jan 2022 5:51pm)
  • Thank you, I messaged her but she only does gel polish and I need gel extensions too by Bubu2316 (Tue 18th Jan 2022 4:35pm)
  • Thanks everyone, you've been a great help! by Bubu2316 (Fri 21st Jan 2022 11:32am)
  • I thought of that but not quite confident about it. Last time I tried cutting my own hair I ended up having to wear head bands for a year to cover up the mess πŸ˜‚ by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 2:36pm)
  • Noted thanks, where I'm from we use both American English and British English so I'm not always aware of the proper terminology. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 2:35pm)
  • Thank you! ☺️ by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 2:59pm)
  • Do you know how I can find them? I tried to search online but I can't find any in Glasgow. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 2:59pm)
  • Thanks, I replied to your chat 😊 by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 2:58pm)
  • Thanks! I'll have a look at salons down there as it's not far from where I live. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 3:05pm)
  • Thank you! by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 3:18pm)
  • It is a fringe, like I said in an earlier comment, where I'm from we use both American and British terms, so I accidentally used the wrong one. Btw a fringe can be both in the front or on the sides. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 3:26pm)
  • Thank you, worth having a look! :) by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 3:39pm)
  • I'm willing to pay £20 or so, but most women's haircuts I find cost over £40/£50 which seems excessive for a trim. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 4:04pm)

  • I understand I'm paying for a service and I understand that you might need to factor in rent which I know is high especially in the West end. I have no objection in paying when getting my hair done, it's not the first time I spent a 100 euros on my hair back home, but that was for a full head of highlights, cut, wash, dry and toner. Also my aunt owns and runs a hair salon back home so I am well aware of costs. What you don't seem to understand is that while I am aware of all this, does not mean I can currently afford it and I'm just looking for somewhere that I can possibly afford so I don't break the bank but also feel just a little bit better about myself in a new country with no job or friends. P.s. I have only been here for a month and to me those prices are very high. Back home a wash and cut would cost about 12 to 15 euros, 20 euros at most if you're going to a fancier place, and they always dry your hair or put product in it for curly hair (so price also includes that). Also they don't change the price based on how long your hair is, they have standard costs for everything and the only variation is in how much product they used (i.e. for toning for example - and not always). So excuse me if I'm still getting used to the system you have here. And also, if I had a job, I would have no problem in paying the higher prices for my hair. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 6:03pm)
  • Also something else is that all haircuts I find, if they include a wash, also include a blow dry, which I do not need at all, even if I leave with my hair sopping wet as it dries fairly quickly and no stylist I have ever been to has styled it well, so I always end up washing it when I get home anyways. So I do object to paying something I do not need, nor will make my hair look any better. by Bubu2316 (Wed 2nd Feb 2022 6:07pm)
  • What is odd is that even if I try to book at 8:30am for a ticket later on in the day, like 11am, it doesn't come up with a discount either, which is odd because I'd be booking for an off-peak time in that case but still no discount. It's also odd because this wasn't the case for the past month, it's just yesterday that it started. by Bubu2316 (Tue 6th Sep 2022 12:49pm)
  • That might be it then, because I was buying an anytime day return for an 8:03am train just last week with no issue with the discount. by Bubu2316 (Tue 6th Sep 2022 12:47pm)
  • I don't have a UK passport and I got a Railcard, didn't have any issues, I bought it online by Bubu2316 (Tue 6th Sep 2022 4:50pm)

  • I would also like to know πŸ˜‚ I moved here earlier this year and have tried scheduling my hair appointments for when I visit family back home. I have no idea how much it would cost in Glasgow. I can say that in Malta, where I'm from, to get a hair cut, top up highlights and get hair dye (toner) for medium to long curly hair, it costs anywhere between 70 to 120 euros depending on the stylist. Haircut only (including wash) would be about 15 to 25 euros I would say. by Bubu2316 (Thu 20th Oct 2022 4:00pm)
  • For that price compared to others I've seen, I'd walk if I had to πŸ˜‚ thank you! by Bubu2316 (Thu 20th Oct 2022 9:27pm)
  • Hi thank you, yes they are interlinked as they changed them earlier this year. I will contact the agency and inform them of the lack of fire blanket. Thank you! by Bubu2316 (Sat 12th Nov 2022 8:06am)
  • Thank you, yes I was mainly concerned about very small fires like contained to one pan that can easily be smothered out. Otherwise I'm grabbing my cats and phone and running out then phoning emergency services. by Bubu2316 (Sat 12th Nov 2022 8:29am)
  • Yes I will but I wanted to know if this is something that should be provided. I'm not from here and in my country every home needs to have a fire extinguisher and fire blanket by law provided by and serviced by the home owners. I have no issue with buying one myself but I wanted to check the regulations as if it's meant to be provided then it isn't right that it isn't provided and tenants end up buying them themselves. Now I know the regulations and I will just order them myself. by Bubu2316 (Sat 12th Nov 2022 8:45am)

  • Yeah there's a pack of a powder extinguisher and fire blanket from this place https://www.fireprotectionshop.co.uk/fire-blankets-bs-en-1869-1997/?gclid=Cj0KCQiApb2bBhDYARIsAChHC9v8p9X3LwAADtmwODSw8c-xCB0XEMmxIgs7WorWTy8FNJyqWIl60FEaAhkWEALw_wcB Just cause it might seem safer to buy from these people then from Amazon since anyone can create an Amazon storefront by Bubu2316 (Sat 12th Nov 2022 9:09am)
  • It's possible that the smoke travelled. We were caramalising onions so it could have been heat and smoke or just smoke, it may have travelled to the one in the hall as it's close but since they're interlinked I have no idea which one went off first. by Bubu2316 (Sat 12th Nov 2022 5:34pm)
  • Thanks, yeah I figured about the alarms not alerting the fire brigade but for some reason some friends in the area found that odd and believe that their building does that, it's probably a private system though. by Bubu2316 (Sat 12th Nov 2022 5:32pm)
  • Hi, I'm looking for a new nail tech but I'm looking for someone who can do a proper matte nail. I've looked at Bellini but cannot find any photos of matte nails online, have you ever got a matte finish from here and did you like them? My matte nails keep coming rubber like instead of suede like. by Bubu2316 (Tue 7th Feb 2023 3:06pm)

  • I already have checked with CAB they wouldn't help and redirected me to a charity that never answered, so having to resort to a lawyer for quite simple and straightforward questions. It was very frustrating because it took months to manage to get a proper reply from CAB and they just said they can't advise on personal circumstances. by Bubu2316 (Fri 7th Apr 2023 1:46pm)
  • I know right, glad to know it's not just me who thinks so. I mean the CAB is there to advise on these matters but all the advisor did was tell me things that are easily found on gov website and that they can't advise on personal information. Anyways, rant over πŸ˜… by Bubu2316 (Fri 7th Apr 2023 1:59pm)
