  • I don't know how it would work in Glasgow, especially with a private landlord... but I had the same issue in Barcelona. But I was renting with an agency, so they were legally obligated to provide me temporary housing for a few weeks while the resolved the mold issue in my apartment. by Confused_Zed (Mon 6th Sep 2021 11:24am)
  • Having black mold violates health and safety laws, does it not? Do you have a contract with your landlord? If you have the standard tenancy agreement, there should be something there about ensuring the safety of the leased premises, to which the landlord is liable, and should therefore cover any necessary repairs... Black mold is dangerous and if that doesn't get resolved right away (or you aren't willing to/cannot move out), then you're putting yourself in great risk. You could also maybe seek advice from the City Council or the Health and Safety people (www.hse.gov.uk/contact)? by Confused_Zed (Mon 6th Sep 2021 11:21am)

  • This is very depressing. Although I agree with showing the "two sides of every story," I think that people (media, especially), instead of sensationalizing what happened and (directly or indirectly) making people argue over whether a kid "deserved" to be murdered or not, should bring to light more important issues! Like why is this happening to children? Is there anything being done in schools to help prevent such behaviors? Is there support from the government? What can parents do? by Confused_Zed (Tue 19th Oct 2021 1:01pm)
  • I didn't say that schools are to be blamed. I was an educator myself, and even coordinated informal programs for juvenile/delinquent youths back in my country. I'm not from here so I don't know what the school or home culture is, but my main point was to say that there are bigger issues that need to be discussed about why these sort of behaviors or actions are happening. by Confused_Zed (Tue 19th Oct 2021 2:29pm)
  • Yes, exactly my point. Like we shouldn't just be talking about "he said/she said" or "he did/she did." What I meant was that there are bigger issues that need to be discussed that media should be (ideally) helping to discuss or facilitate conversations about. I think all institutions involved in raising children/youth have a role to play- and I'm not saying that it's someone's particular fault- but, see, these are what we should be talking about... by Confused_Zed (Tue 19th Oct 2021 2:27pm)

  • Hi! Yeah, I'm hoping to get something second hand since I'm also just starting out (as a student with minimal funds, heh). Thank you for the reco!! by Confused_Zed (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 10:31am)
  • Ah, I've been shooting digital myself for several years now. I think I'm just looking to try something new... or to try film again. I didn't have a lot of time for it before and now I actually have some time to kind of do more exploring and see if I wanna consider it as a new or different hobby. I take my Fuji mirrorless every now and then but just want a different perspective, I guess :) by Confused_Zed (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 5:48pm)
  • Thanks for these recommendations! I'll check out the cameras and go on ebay. Right now I'm just really looking to "start" (or start again) so I'm trying to keep my budget reasonable for me too. by Confused_Zed (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 5:46pm)
  • Oh cool! I learned to develop years back when I was in undergrad, so would be great to be able to do that again. Thanks for the tip! by Confused_Zed (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 5:45pm)
  • Thanks so much! I haven't checked charity shops for cameras, actually, but that's a great tip. Hopefully I do get lucky hehehe. That's really too bad about the film, but I'll start a canvass too and again hopefully find some. by Confused_Zed (Tue 23rd Nov 2021 5:50pm)
  • Hi! I'm not from here, so all my relatives are quite far, haha. Not too many friends in this city either! Unfortunately I've sold my Canon lenses about a year ago when I moved (didn't think about being able to use them for film... which was stupid, really). Thanks so much for the recommendation though. Will check out the EOS 300 by Confused_Zed (Thu 25th Nov 2021 7:04pm)
  • Thanks so much! I'm definitely interested in developing the film myself. :) by Confused_Zed (Thu 25th Nov 2021 7:02pm)

  • So far, have bought film from Gulabi and Analogue Wonderland. Also got some good priced ones at ebay. Just need to compare prices by Confused_Zed (Sun 13th Mar 2022 6:45pm)
  • Would be up for this! Granted that I'm fairly new to film photography by Confused_Zed (Fri 18th Mar 2022 1:46pm)
  • I go to Gorbals. You need to book a slot and a swim lane (slow, medium, fast) - and I think it's the same for all the Glasgow Clubs... At Gorbals, half the pool is for lap swimmers (separated into the three lanes). Usually what happens is just it's a one-direction swim, so depending on how many you are in that lane, you go one after the other. The other half of the pool is for "recreational swim" which some people also use to swim laps, but it's the free for all, so you have kids and parents there too, sometimes. I haven't been to the pool in a while but some days I notice that there are kids (as in from school), who probably do their swim classes there like in the mid-morning and mid-afternoon. I would say try both the slow lane and the recreational part. I honestly liked the recreational area because there wasn't any "pressure" to keep swimming. I could just stop mid way if I wanted to (or go in a different direction - obviously of course, without hitting anyone) because no one was swimming a lap behind me or in front of me... by Confused_Zed (Wed 23rd Mar 2022 12:40pm)
  • Ah you don't get out of the pool (lol sorry I don't know if I understood). But it's kind of being in line, right? So one person starts swimming, and then once he/she is some few meters away, the next person can start swimming, etc etc. So yea, you would be in opposite directions, if the person/s swimming with you is/are starting or completing a lap. by Confused_Zed (Wed 23rd Mar 2022 12:57pm)
  • Good luck getting back to swimming! :) by Confused_Zed (Wed 23rd Mar 2022 1:09pm)

  • Hi! The sign on the clinic says that you can walk-in. But I made an appointment to be sure, because I needed the test for travel. Here's their website: https://www.dam-health.com/glasgow-city-centre/ by Confused_Zed (Wed 13th Apr 2022 2:59am)

  • I know how to use Google. And I actually did before posting. Thanks for your help, though. :) What are you so pissed off about anyway hahaha by Confused_Zed (Wed 18th May 2022 4:53pm)
  • Well maybe you should get on with the mods about making some rules about posting. :) And probably spend some more time saying the same thing for every other person who asks about "recommendations of pubs" and "best places to eat" on this sub. :) I don't think it's ruining anyone's day but yours. :) by Confused_Zed (Wed 18th May 2022 5:04pm)

  • There are agencies like Selective Personnel, Arc Hospitality, Ellior, Sodexo that hire part-timers for hospitality work, and pay the minimum per hour. Unless you're looking for something more specific, those should do. by Confused_Zed (Tue 14th Jun 2022 9:34am)

  • Some drunk driver ran over a network box on Moir Street last Sunday (practically destroyed it and uprooted all the wires). Not sure if that's anywhere near you or is related to why you have no internet... But maybe you can work from libraries in the meantime, if it's not too much online meetings? Mitchell or GoMA? by Confused_Zed (Wed 3rd Aug 2022 2:10pm)
  • They're lined up for JD Sports. I guess there's new drops and promos for members or something. It's the same situation at the Argyle St store... by Confused_Zed (Fri 5th Aug 2022 12:26pm)

  • Hi! Yes, they are. The timetable says 2 trains per hour. I'm quite worried about the delays/cancellations due to the weather too - so actually I've decided that the bus would be the "safest" to get me there timewise... by Confused_Zed (Mon 12th Dec 2022 7:20pm)
  • Commenting just to say good luck, and I hope everything goes well! :) by Confused_Zed (Wed 4th Jan 2023 7:03pm)
  • Used to go to Gorbals and can confirm this. I'd book the "recreational swim" instead of the lanes. You'd of course be swimming with kids/families, but there's enough space to do some laps. by Confused_Zed (Fri 6th Jan 2023 9:27pm)
  • Did an initial check there too! I did find some nice ones but they were either sizes too big and are gonna be too long for me, as a petite girl. And I figured if there was a lot of alteration to be done, then it would cost almost the same. So am looking for more options too. But thanks for the suggestion! by Confused_Zed (Sun 29th Jan 2023 8:54pm)
  • Hi! Pre-owned works too. But I am quite petite, so I'm also looking for dresses not above a size 10, in case it's something I need re-sized :) by Confused_Zed (Sun 29th Jan 2023 8:51pm)
  • Ah thanks so much! I'll check them out! by Confused_Zed (Sun 29th Jan 2023 8:55pm)

  • Glasgow United Krav Maga does a women's 8-week course. It's a fun way to learn self-defense because they teach you certain skills that are more specific to circumstances experienced by women. Granted, it's only an 8-week course, but it's a good start, and afterwards if you want to continue, beginner classes are held twice (or thrice?) weekly (although it's mixed, and more intense) by Confused_Zed (Wed 9th Aug 2023 6:38am)
