  • Would probably cost a lot to pay for all the luggage on a plane, I would personally get the train outside of rush hour and you could probably get all your luggage on without causing disruption. Decide which team you support before you get here. by DarthMauledByABear (Wed 20th May 2020 1:07pm)
  • Subway and a train twice a day fuck that. Paisleys high Street is a shit hole yes but there are some nice areas and it's only 10 minutes to Glasgow on a train. by DarthMauledByABear (Wed 20th May 2020 9:44pm)
  • Tesco and Morrisons already have their eye on it. by DarthMauledByABear (Wed 23rd Dec 2020 9:46am)

  • Club tropicana, only open Friday and Saturdays though right next to central too, has two dance floors with different music. Cathouse has a mix of ages if you like rock/punk music. You'll only get turned away from either of these places if your too drunk. by DarthMauledByABear (Sun 13th Feb 2022 4:26pm)
  • You'll be paying around this per month depending on your situation. £600 rent. £100 council tax. £150 gas/electricity. £50 broadband. £300 food/essentials. £100 travel costs. Source: I lived alone for 3 years in Glasgow. Tip: Share a place with someone if you can. Answer: Scraping. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 15th Mar 2022 9:09am)
  • What about the discount you get for living yourself? Is that still a thing? by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 15th Mar 2022 10:00am)
  • These were just estimates buddy I don't know what deals OP will get on broadband. Also that £300 for food also includes essentials not just food. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 15th Mar 2022 10:40am)
  • I got fined on a 5 minute walk to Bellahouston park to see The Killers. It was my first drink barely had two swigs so I wasn't drunk. Believe me it can happen, now I always hide or pour into a coke bottle. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 19th Mar 2022 10:29am)

  • You could let first bus know, they deal with a lot of complaints but good feedback is few and far between. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 3rd May 2022 3:58pm)
  • A lot of taxi drivers left the industry. Anyone aspiring to become a taxi driver needs to apply and pay £200+ for a licence, not to mention it takes 9 months to even get the licence approved in Glasgow. Hardly appealing to someone unemployed looking for work right now. Whole system needs looked at. by DarthMauledByABear (Thu 19th May 2022 12:04pm)
  • Morrisons do them. by DarthMauledByABear (Fri 20th May 2022 1:59pm)
  • First bus driver here, I also do not know how the bus system in Glasgow works. Download the first bus app and buy your tickets on that, gives you a QR code you just scan when you get on the bus. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 7th Jun 2022 5:17am)
  • Not as bad as people think, the worst part about it is dealing with the worst of the general public, most people are fine though. Other than that you're just driving a bus from A to B. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 7th Jun 2022 11:52am)
  • Bus driver here. Unless no one has told me, we are not on strike. Don't use Google for bus timetables it's not accurate. First bus app is your best bet. They have a massive shortage of drivers so there is busses sitting in the depot that should be on the road, resulting in less busses and busier busses which makes us run late most of the time. Edit: what bus/area are you looking for? by DarthMauledByABear (Wed 15th Jun 2022 11:01am)
  • Rabbits. They dig burrows on the course and they don't like this for obvious reasons. by DarthMauledByABear (Thu 16th Jun 2022 11:30am)
  • Dunno man, I'm not exactly first busses biggest fan, I just drive the bus. by DarthMauledByABear (Fri 17th Jun 2022 9:39pm)
  • Bus driver here for first bus, thank you for that. We get shat on by passengers and our own company. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 18th Jun 2022 1:30pm)
  • You called him a cunt for that? Friday night, probably had about 30 drunks stumbling on his bus causing him all sorts of problems. Honestly mate, trying to get people to hear you through that bus door in the cab is a nightmare, you have to raise your voice to get anyone to hear you. If you were just standing there after the machine beeped, you probably never heard him the first 3 times he said to go, so he raised his voice. Don't blame the driver it's a tough gig on a Friday night in town. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 18th Jun 2022 1:48pm)
  • In this case it only means one thing, Ticket accepted. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 18th Jun 2022 1:50pm)
  • There offering us drivers double time this week so there will be more busses on the road, however I would still recommend WFH if you can, it's gonna be busy. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 21st Jun 2022 8:03am)
  • So we're meant to know every park in Glasgow? Aye nae bother. Edit: after reading the thread, just wantae say thanks every cunt for defending us, we are a shower of wanks us bus drivers I do admit but it's good to see people backing us up. by DarthMauledByABear (Tue 21st Jun 2022 5:25pm)
  • It's true some drivers can be grumpy, especially the older ones that have been doing it for a while. However, I'm a bus driver and I do try and help people when I can but I'd like to put a some what shaky case to you in our defence. Firstly, we aren't a tour guide, we are shown the routes and that's it, no training on all the street names or names of the bus stops, just when to turn left or right. Secondly, if we stop and help too many passengers, our bus will be late and they'll be yet more posts on r/Glasgow complaining about late busses. First bus has it's problems but we get spat on, shouted at, attacked all the time, Glasgow is a hard place to drive a bus. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 25th Jun 2022 2:39pm)
  • If you're late due to traffic or if it's busy then first bus is okay with that as it's unavoidable. If you're late every day for unknown reasons then as it is with any company it's a performance issue. No docking of pay that I know of. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 25th Jun 2022 3:18pm)
  • Our strike got called off last year because first offered us a 21% pay increase. Some credit to the union for that. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 25th Jun 2022 3:20pm)
  • https://www.firstbus.co.uk/about-us/careers They're recruiting if you're interested. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 25th Jun 2022 3:30pm)
  • It's £13 an hour, well above minimum wage. No pay docking that I know. First bus actually pay you for every minute you're over your time due to lateness and they are currently paying double time for working on your day off. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:24pm)
  • Appreciate it, you can travel for free if you get on my bus. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 25th Jun 2022 4:58pm)

  • It's £1.80 if it's a short journey, usually about 5 stops or so. £2.65 for anything more than that City zone is Glasgow, if your travelling outside of Glasgow you get a network. Local is if your travelling outside of Glasgow only. by DarthMauledByABear (Mon 18th Jul 2022 1:12pm)
  • You can tap on and tap off now. Most tourists do that now. Really simple process. by DarthMauledByABear (Mon 18th Jul 2022 2:03pm)
  • Club Tropicana usually has a decent older crowd. Some weans here and there but it's mostly 80s and 90s music. Good location too right next to the taxi rank if your too fucked to walk after. by DarthMauledByABear (Sun 14th Aug 2022 11:14am)

  • Bus drivers are heavily unionised, don't expect any busses to be running. Look to your nearest train station. Keep an eye on the news though, they may get their £15 an hour pay rise and call it off. by DarthMauledByABear (Sat 18th Nov 2023 8:06am)
