  • I was actually refraining from talking about the actual discussion she was having. For all we know, the woman could be a raging alcoholic and the husband wants her to come home from her two day bender. You’ve not heard the other side of the conversation. You’re just assuming the NHS worker is in the right without knowing the full story...because she’s an NHS worker. Either way, it sounds like it’s a toxic relationship and the person on the other side of the phone is controlling or the NHS worker is a bit selfish. by Duldough (Wed 22nd Jul 2020 5:51pm)

  • Probably not the best restaurant in Glasgow but definitely a unique experience Last time we ate out, we went to that Japanese restaurant Sapporo Teppanyaki in the town. The chefs put on a cracking wee show in front of you and they throw these wee fried potato fritters up in the air for you to catch in your mouth. It’s a good laugh, and the lager is amazing too. Different set menus to pick from or you can mix and match. The sushi and sashimi were top notch too. If you’re wanting a more private dinner for your anniversary though I wouldn’t recommend it because you are sitting beside strangers, although it’s a good atmosphere and we ended up talking away to the people beside us. by Duldough (Wed 26th Aug 2020 1:28am)

  • You’re hopelessly naive. Fuck them, they’re scrounging scumbags that will steal the money out your wallet for their next hit. I can totally understand the struggles of addiction and how difficult it can be to break it, but you know what? Don’t take that drug that is notoriously addictive and will fuck your life up. These people are in the position they’re in for making consistent poor life choices, and get no sympathy from me. Nobody made them do it. by Duldough (Sun 30th Aug 2020 11:04pm)
  • DELETED My fiancé works in a primary and when they returned to school, the whole organisation of it has been nothing short of a farce. They had organised no PPE for any of the staff, and whatever they did get, they’ve been told they’ll need to buy their own PPE if it breaks or didn’t get any (illegal). They also put sanatiser pumps around certain parts of the school and they were empty after two days. They cost £700 to refill iirc by Duldough (Mon 31st Aug 2020 6:52am)

  • https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/12-forgotten-glasgow-characters-15636749 He’s mentioned in this article but is called Jimmy Backwards and a google search brings up another post here from a few years ago referring to him as Harry Backwards by Duldough (Wed 30th Sep 2020 5:05pm)
  • Same person but I’ve always heard him named as Backwards Eddy. Article above says his name was Jimmy too so who knows by Duldough (Wed 30th Sep 2020 6:49pm)
  • If he’s been called Eddy, Harry, Jimmy and Billy I’m inclined to believe he’s as real as the Greenock Ratman. The only consistent thing about it is he comes from Milton/Springburn by Duldough (Wed 30th Sep 2020 9:22pm)
  • Serious question, why does this sub have such a graffiti fetish? I tend not to care one way or the other about it but it does get posted fairly frequently and the you get downvoted if you’re not pro graffiti. by Duldough (Wed 7th Oct 2020 9:36pm)
  • Well obviously not, I’m a Catholic. Also I’m not talking about the KAT or FTQ stuff that people leave on walls. I’m talking about the coloured bubble words that you can never make out. There was a post on this sub during the summer I think. Sprawled graffiti ‘Fuck the Tories’ in massive writing across the side of a tenement building. My first thought was, thats shite someone lives there, you’re putting a message on someone’s house that could cause bother and it’s straight up vandalism. But nobody cared when it got posted because they agreed with the message. I don’t like the tories either, but you don’t write on the side of someone’s house. by Duldough (Thu 8th Oct 2020 6:44am)
  • I’d argue some of it is a proper eye sore. by Duldough (Thu 8th Oct 2020 6:44am)
  • Few things I agree and disagree with. Yes Glasgow is strongly anti-tory but I don’t think it justifies writing Fuck The Tories on the side of building where someone lives, the same reason why you wouldn’t write it on someone’s car. I prefer murals if I’m honest, but I would guess they’re commissioned by the council. by Duldough (Thu 8th Oct 2020 10:41am)

  • A clear cut win for the newcomer junkie in blue as she takes her opponent to the ground with a clean hip throw looking for the puddle submission. Junkie in tartan, known in the Possil housing estates as ‘Tai Kwon Dope’ for her signature striking moves, was left completely helpless as she was pinned to the ground, unable to land any punches as her opponent slabbered all over her face. A great call from the referee to end the fight before the mother of six drowned. An easy decision for the judges to make today and I’m sure we will see promising blue junkie contending for the local methadone belt in the near future. by Duldough (Fri 9th Oct 2020 4:35pm)

  • Two sides of the same shite coin. SNP are just as bad as the Tories. by Duldough (Sun 8th Nov 2020 10:30pm)
  • Agreed. It was scandalous how they handled the care homes. I don’t know how they ok’d putting positive patients into bubbles with so many people that have weak immune systems and are especially vulnerable and nobody saw how that would come back to bite them. Ofcourse the SNP supporters easily forget about this and sweep it under the carpet so they can continue their mindless tory bashing. • I would have guessed each council was responsible for gritting their own roads. Point still stands though why are we waiting for the second day of snow before the gritters are out? by Duldough (Fri 4th Dec 2020 8:11am)
  • Well, pardon my ignorance. I just want to know why the gritters are reactive and not pro active by Duldough (Fri 4th Dec 2020 8:19am)
  • Winter tyres arnt economically viable in the UK. That’s more a North American, Canada and Northern European thing because those places get snowfall from November all the way through to late February. Not worth buying them if we only get 2 weeks of snow a year. Plus I’m in a work van and they wouldn’t provide them anyway. by Duldough (Fri 4th Dec 2020 8:33am)
  • I honestly don’t care who grits the roads, it would just be nice if they were gritted. Also not sure where you’re getting the sentiment that I’m raging and foaming at the mouth. by Duldough (Fri 4th Dec 2020 8:35am)
  • I mean if you replace one organisation with another it doesn’t really matter. The roads still arnt gritted with ample notice. I apologised for my ignorance but the only person that seems upset here is you. Have a nice day by Duldough (Fri 4th Dec 2020 8:43am)

  • It’s really not, and I’m sorry to have to challenge your hard left progressive politics but unfortunately having the privilege of being born or living in a powerful and rich country like the UK comes at a cost. Defence is a very much an essential muscle flex when there are big bad people out there that want to illegally stretch their borders. Having a large military force is not only in ours, but our allies best interests. To downsize it would come at a cost and would be taken advantage of and let countries like Russia and China go unchallenged. Shipbuilding is also a deeply engrained part of Glasgow’s economy, history and culture. by Duldough (Fri 19th Mar 2021 11:02am)

  • Where do we start to tackle this problem though? I have no idea what drives a ~~person~~ man to go out, stalk a ~~victim~~ woman, sexually assault or murder her. The main suggestion seems to be educate all men, which fine, I can sort of understand - there is definitely a culture problem that needs to be addressed. The alleged murderer was a Police Officer that worked with and around woman daily, a person that no doubt would know right from wrong. So how do you go about fixing that? The issue is a lot more complicated than labelling all men as culpable bystanders. by Duldough (Fri 19th Mar 2021 10:52pm)

Cause it reminds me, theyre just like me. They’re no bad people - they’re just having a good time. Then I hear them laugh again. Only this time, it doesn’t sound like fingernails down a blackboard like it did before, cause this time I realise that, if they were my pals, the sound of laughter would me like music to my ears. Like a lullaby. I’d drift off to sleep with a big smile on my face - happy, cause my pals are happy. That’s what I dae, imagine they’re my pals. In a way, they are. • [If this is the article you are referring to](https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-48146305), I skimmed through it. I’m not really sure what to say. I’d like to know why it’s happening, but given it’s Middle Eastern countries the article talks about, I think it’s pretty obvious it’s because of Western military deployments in these countries for decades. I would like to hope you spoke up for muslims being persecuted here in the UK and USA after 9/11 and the height of ISIS threats. But unless Christianity plans on leading another crusade to reclaim the holy land, I think it would be best if they left these countries as it clearly belongs to a Muslim population. I’m not sure where political correctness would fit into this. From Sanger’s wiki page > Due to her connection with Planned Parenthood, Sanger is a frequent target of criticism by opponents of abortion. However, Sanger drew a sharp distinction between birth control and abortion and was opposed to abortion throughout the bulk of her professional career, declining to participate in them as a nurse. Also I don’t see why she’s relevant. Abortion is a question of ethics.
