  • I used to live in London and I far prefer Glasgow. London has a really mean edge to it, especially in certain areas and as a woman on your own. A friend's teenage son got mugged at knife point for his phone and that was completely normal at his school and in their upper class area of leafy North London. Another friend helped a man who had collapsed on a bus and got zero help from other passengers who just looked through her when she asked if anyone is a doctor, I got creeped on by several creepy men while walking home, I saw a guy getting chased through Camden with a huge kitchen knife during the day in a "nice area", I saw a guy getting punched in the face for no reason during the day by a stranger. My husband ran bars and I was always so worried about him coming home safely at night, I had bad anxiety while I lived there and couldn't wait to get back to Glasgow. I know Glasgow has its fair share of bams and weirdos but I do think you're more likely to get help and support from the majority of the population if you needed it, than in London where crime is so commonplace and folk are so jaded and miserable or just scared to get involved that they generally turn away rather than help. by FullJuice1572 (Mon 24th Apr 2023 10:28am)
  • I work in media/content in a senior role (not director level) for a London based company. 35.5k by FullJuice1572 (Sun 14th May 2023 1:14pm)
  • We are getting by but that's with 2 finances. We have a household income of about £60k but we have nursery fees of £700+ a month plus mortgage. I think way more carefully about everything now. I feel like our salaries would have been considered quite high a couple of years ago but now everything is so pinched. I also haven't had a pay rise in 3 years so it hasn't gone up with inflation but all costs have increased and other half's salary has gone down due to changing to a lower paid role. by FullJuice1572 (Wed 17th May 2023 5:01pm)
  • Got a baby so been trying to cool their room down and someone online suggested cold wet muslin cloth, could use a towel, hanging up in front of fan. It did cool it by a degree or so (we have a thermometer in there) and felt much fresher by FullJuice1572 (Wed 31st May 2023 8:26am)
  • I'm on day 6 of a hideous cough / cold. Testing negative for covid, worst cough of my life (worse than when I had covid) and nausea. Had fever, aches, chills and ear pain at various points as well. The constant coughing at night is doing me in. Nothing seems to help except a brief relief after drinking honey & lemon. by FullJuice1572 (Sun 11th Jun 2023 11:45am)

  • Might be worth considering roles in more central places e.g. Central Stirling and then you've got option to get train too. by FullJuice1572 (Tue 29th Aug 2023 10:19am)
  • I've been OK this month but in the last few months I've had completely blocked ear, sinus problems due to a virus, and a hideous productive chesty cough. All in summer. My kid is in nursery though so I put it down to that. by FullJuice1572 (Tue 29th Aug 2023 11:56am)
  • Thanks, was looking for coffee shops/breakfast but thought it was on the early side for them. by FullJuice1572 (Thu 7th Sep 2023 8:25am)
  • That's a good point. I would happily drive to pick up so not necessarily looking for delivery. We just don't necessarily always want to book a babysitter (or keep getting normal takeaways) by FullJuice1572 (Thu 7th Sep 2023 12:14pm)
