  • I do it every few months, always a pleasant journey. Also Virgin give you an automatic refund if it's delayed by an hour. I tend to book two months in advance to get the £30 tickets by Gueld (Fri 22nd Feb 2019 5:46pm)
  • It's one thing to believe this, but to go and try to campaign for it is another. What's the base motivation here? Mental Illness? Genuine passion? Plain old top level trolling? by Gueld (Sun 8th Sep 2019 7:19pm)
  • Seeing chat on twitter from some republican groups planning to go disrupt this. What a mess. I think there’s a big indie rally at the weekend too so the police really have their work cut out for them. by Gueld (Fri 20th Sep 2019 12:13pm)

  • Eh, has this not always been the standard? I remember going to see Slipknot in the SECC over 10 years ago and my boyfriend wasn't allowed to wear his spiked stuff that he usually wore. I assumed it was more to do with preventing accidents due to crowd congestion, particularly at the front where everyone is just on top of each other, rather than any sort of violence. by Gueld (Sat 18th Jan 2020 9:37am)
  • Mad, I wonder if it's the same people just travelling around the different gigs or is it just a common tactic of theives these days? by Gueld (Sun 19th Jan 2020 7:30am)

  • I got some tats there last month and it was totally fine tbh. It was a total nightmare getting a booking, but the actual day was fine and the artist was lovely. I’d always recommend doing research before booking anything in though. With studios being closed during lockdown and the big loss of income for artists I’m not surprised they weren’t happy with the cancellation. I would have thought deposits were non refundable. by Gueld (Mon 14th Sep 2020 9:24pm)

  • There are shortages in certain sectors. I work in digital and there's a real shortage of experienced SEO, PPC and social media managers. There's lots of roles out there for HGV drivers and warehouse staff. In London there's lots of roles for hospitality and retail too. by Gueld (Sat 11th Sep 2021 8:32am)

  • Check the trains from and to the airports in London, they bump up the cost significantly. Use the Trainline app and book when the cheap advance tickets are online, generally 12 weeks in advance. by Gueld (Tue 8th Mar 2022 1:00am)
  • Yeah it’s a scam. They constantly change the name of their business too so they don’t get a bad rep. It’s annoying there isn’t something like Unite Hospitality that could help. They tend to go after recent graduates and people desperate for a job too. by Gueld (Thu 7th Apr 2022 2:48pm)
  • Was just walking along argyle st and three guys came up to my face, oinked at me then walked away laughing. Thanks for the reminder of why I left Glasgow lads. I get none of this shite in London, why has Glasgow got so many fat phobic wee arseholes? (Thing is, I'm not even that overweight ¯\_(ツ)_/¯) by Gueld (Sun 17th Apr 2022 5:15pm)
  • Yeah that’s what puzzles me. Been living in London for 4 years, never get negative comments about my weight or looks. If anything I get approached more for my number. Glasgow’s meant to be the friendlier (and bigger waist-line on average) city but I guess there’s a higher proportion of wee bams with no manners? by Gueld (Mon 18th Apr 2022 2:51pm)

  • According to google, 69 flights leave Glasgow airport every day, while 313 flights leave Edinburgh. I’d imagine it’ll be related to the capacity of terminals they have - isn’t Glasgow much smaller? Alternatively. Given Edinburgh is closer to the East, is it maybe just cheaper for all the airlines flying to Europe to be located in Edinburgh as it’ll be less fuel? (Though I guess that would mean there should be more flights to Belfast from Glasgow). by Gueld (Fri 29th Jul 2022 7:30pm)
  • I registered at Glasgow Uni when I was in Partick (despite not being a student). Found it really convenient as they do late night clinics by Gueld (Sun 31st Jul 2022 12:40am)
  • Try a big supermarket. They are more likely to have a big cash float in the till. by Gueld (Thu 1st Sep 2022 5:21pm)
  • No it isn't. And it's also unlikely. Official government guidance is events can go ahead, it will be discression of venues. Given the delays from covid, I don't think the events industry is keen to reschedule everything again by Gueld (Fri 9th Sep 2022 1:51pm)

  • Loads of people don’t drink, it’s totally normal. Many places will have a nice mocktail menu. There’s plenty of options in the city centre for family meals, and a fair amount of events and activities aimed at families and young kids. I’d recommend checking out some places to visit like the transport museum as it’s a good day out for kids. In winter there will also be various Pantomimes at the theatres which are great entertainment for little ones. During the Christmas period there will be lots of family orientated events and festivals. Into skiing or snowboarding? Xsite at Braehead does lessons for kids. Not sure where you will be staying but there are also plenty of mother & toddler groups around. In terms of expectations. Eh, I’m not sure how it differs from US tbh. Just don’t let them run around naked. Glasgow is an incredibly diverse city so I wouldn’t say there’s a set standard for manners or dress. It’ll depend more on where you are going e.g. a five star venue might have rules. I don’t think there’s anything unique about expectations that isn’t pretty standard in most cities. Just don’t let your kids run about the streets completely feral. by Gueld (Thu 15th Sep 2022 8:56am)
  • The surrounding Finneston is full of bars, largely full of people getting a drink before a gig. No, you can’t bring alcohol in (unless you are clever). You can’t even bring in a bottle of water. by Gueld (Thu 15th Sep 2022 1:12pm)
