  • My brother has lived in London for years, he said he feels like people in Glasgow like where they live, they’re proud and feel an ownership of the city, they really live there whereas in London everyone is just temporary, people don’t really give a shit. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Wed 1st Sep 2021 8:44pm)
  • Also the food in Glasgow is great, you’ll find everything and there’s an Indian restaurant in every little Main Street. There’s a great art and music scene too. The shopping is great. It’s smaller and more convenient than London. In terms of safety... Yeah there’s loonies that you don’t want to bump into in a dark alley but so has every city. I could be wrong but I feel like you’re more likely to be mugged in London, Glaswegians fight for the fun of it and not to steal your phone or wallet. Everyone’s experience is different but I think making friends will not be a problem. I lived in Glashow for 10 years, moved there for uni from the island and now live in Canada but I’m still good friends with the friends I made 20 years later. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Thu 2nd Sep 2021 8:29am)

  • Outside a pub called Morrison’s on Clyde street in the 60s. A wee drink man complimenting a wee dog, ‘what a lovely wee dug’ as we strokes it admiringly. Owner says ‘that’s not a dug that’s a cat. Wee drunk man ‘ah fuckin’ hate cats!’ Jumps away in disgust. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Wed 20th Jul 2022 9:38pm)

  • I booked the citizens theatre, got tickets 3 rows from the stage for a great price! by Jauggernaut_birdy (Sun 16th Oct 2022 9:47pm)
  • This happened to me, it’s really awful and scary to have neighbours like this. I made the mistake of approaching the noisy twat up the stairs and he was obnoxious and aggressive to me and would go out his way to stamp on the floor. I called the police and it still continued. I took great joy in pulling my extremely squeaky pulley up and down and up and down very early in the morning, I also found a track of cats screeching and played it full boot with the speaker below his bedroom. Utter Fanny, I still get mad when I think about him even 20 years later. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Mon 17th Oct 2022 12:04am)

  • I don’t live in Glasgow anymore so my ideas will be outdated but a taxi driver told me that him and all his retired mates would go to ikea every week because they had a great breakfast that was cheap. I live in Canada now and I see groups of men get together at the local chain coffee shops in the morning for their coffee and donuts, thought it was strange at first but came to realise it’s a perfectly good way for men to socialize. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Mon 17th Apr 2023 11:49am)

She goes home to get it, I try to give her money but she’s having none of it, I offer her a bottle of whisky because I lived very close and knew I had one in the house but she declined as she’s an ex alky. Just happy to do a good deed and it really helped me out. Thanks wee women! by Jauggernaut_birdy (Mon 26th Jun 2023 11:48pm)

  • I know you’re right, it is shit and sad and no one is winning but this type of aggressive disrespectful behaviour is a theme here and seems to be written off as ‘just a laugh’. It’s pathetic that people think this is made up or think I’m ridiculous for being upset at the experience. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Sat 26th Aug 2023 7:27pm)

  • I’ve lived in 3 continents and a few more cities and never experienced wee shites like the ones here. The most frustrating things about the whole situation is that people just accept that it’s Glasgow culture, it’s fucking not, Glaswegians are brilliant, friendly people (most of the time) but sadly they accept and enable the youth’s behaviour. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Sun 27th Aug 2023 7:52pm)

  • Vitamin deficiencies alone can cause depression and anxiety and anemia can cause panic attacks so this will be a huge contributor to your mental health. You may at this stage need iron transfusions as supplements take months to work. If anemia is Left untreated you can end up With horrible permanent symptoms. For me my vision and hearing was affected. Go to A&E and ask for help, it’s a start. Or can you go see your doctor immediately because you’ll need blood work then a treatment plan. Things will get better if you take these steps. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Thu 31st Aug 2023 1:23am)

  • I’m in the same boat, I live in Canada with a Canadian husband and 3 little kids. My mum is sick and now it’s impossible for me to come home. We’re both professionals but these rules mean we would have to be separated for months before my husband could join us. I don’t even think my career which took 7 years of higher education will even get me 38k. by Jauggernaut_birdy (Wed 6th Dec 2023 6:38pm)
