  • Thank you so much for all your recommendations. I feel confident on the road, but sometimes drivers can be awful. I did Glasgow- Largs a few years ago and a couple of cars overtook me beeping at me like if I was not allowed to be on the road. It was an amazing cycle but I have not done it again since then because of that. Maybe I should give it a go again. by LumpyResident2585 (Wed 24th Feb 2021 8:22am)
  • I will definitely have a look to those courses and groups. It is reassuring to know that all I have to do is ignore them. Thanks again. by LumpyResident2585 (Wed 24th Feb 2021 8:58am)
  • I have only experience with one and he is really great, I strongly recommend him. Please PM if you want his details. Well done for seeking therapy, it is brave thing to do. by LumpyResident2585 (Wed 24th Feb 2021 11:24pm)
  • I knew someone doing that postgrad and she was extremely disappointed, she had saved so much to move here and do that masters. She felt the course was badly organised and lack of support. That's only the experience from one person, keep trying to find info from other sources so you can contrast them. Sadly I do not keep in touch with this person, otherwise I would happily put you in contact with her. Good luck. by LumpyResident2585 (Tue 9th Mar 2021 6:32pm)

  • It all comes to Drugs Misuse Act, that's why Westminster rejects the introduction of drug consumption rooms in Scotland. It is the same for heroin assisted treatments. Such a shame, I really hope this gets sorted soon and people can receive the support that they deserve. by LumpyResident2585 (Wed 5th May 2021 2:56pm)
  • Sorry for my ignorance, but what is happening today? by LumpyResident2585 (Sat 15th May 2021 9:13am)
  • I've cycled around Glasgow for many years and helped mates to get bikes. Buying a bike second hand from Facebook Market or Gumtree is 100% how you will make the most of your money. It is a a slower process and you might need to go and test more than 1 bike, but it is totally worth it if you want to save money. by LumpyResident2585 (Sat 15th May 2021 9:20am)
  • Thanks for letting me know. As they were talking about the refugees I thought it was a protest about it and I was going to run down to join in. Imagine I had gone, I'd have been so confused lol by LumpyResident2585 (Sat 15th May 2021 9:26am)
  • I get what you mean, I think if you go to see the bike and speak to the seller you kinda guess if there is something wrong. The good thing is that you will meet them and hopefully you will be able to judge if there is something worng. by LumpyResident2585 (Sat 15th May 2021 12:36pm)

  • I get what you mean. Glasgow is a great city but it has many areas with high levels of deprivation and violence. When the sun comes out (like everyone else) bams go to the park. They can be really annoying and even dangerous. The best is to avoid them but sometimes it's impossible. I don't know if this answers your question... by LumpyResident2585 (Thu 1st Jul 2021 10:55pm)
  • Check flats in the Kinning Park and Ibrox, it is cheap and you can get the tube to town and also to the west end. The tube in Glasgow is ridiculously small, which makes it handy if you life in the right place. Good luck! by LumpyResident2585 (Fri 2nd Jul 2021 11:10pm)

  • I'm honestly so feed up of the GCC! Why? Uncountable reasons! I would like to take action in a civic way, joining a collective that gathers people's opinions/experiences and brings it to the GCC. Please let me know if anyone knows about something like this, or is up for starting up this type of collective. by LumpyResident2585 (Tue 13th Jul 2021 3:14pm)
  • I know, but it is hard to capture everything in a petition without first gathering the information - which a think could be achieved through a non-political collective. by LumpyResident2585 (Tue 13th Jul 2021 4:33pm)
  • Totally agree, it is a bit of a walk though. Bike in the train is a good option! by LumpyResident2585 (Wed 21st Jul 2021 10:27pm)
  • I just checked maps and from the station to the car park is 20 minutes, and then you need to walk further along the beach to get a quiet spot. I would say at least 25 minutes. by LumpyResident2585 (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 8:09am)

  • Well done for seeking help, that's a very brave thing to do. From my personal experience, do not give the main focus to the diagnosis. Non-directive approach and not over dwelling on my diagnosis was very effective. I would speak to a counselor first and they might refer you to a psychiatrists if necessary (explain this to them). That really helped me, but obviously each person is different and you will know what works for you. Hope it goes well. by LumpyResident2585 (Sun 8th Aug 2021 4:34pm)

  • I will check that. Thanks! by LumpyResident2585 (Mon 9th Aug 2021 6:12pm)
  • This has always been the toughest time of the year to rent because of students. Moreover, people can't buy homes and they have to rent, and also, as restrictions are easing people are coming back to the city. I definitely agree, getting something temporary from an agency is the best option (check their policy and as long it is one month notice you're fine). I'm sure you will find something eventually. Good luck! by LumpyResident2585 (Wed 11th Aug 2021 8:39am)

  • This is very true, I am not from the UK and when I moved to Ibrox I couldn't understand why people would cheer me on me. I eventually discovered that it was because of my blue waterproof jacket. I wonder what would have happened if it was green. Anyways, I recommend: well connected, affordable and reasonably quiet. The closest supermarket is Asda, which is a bit of a walk, so keep an eye on that - doing your food shop on the coop will ruin you. by LumpyResident2585 (Sat 14th Aug 2021 2:40pm)
  • Good shout! I'll try that. by LumpyResident2585 (Sun 22nd Aug 2021 9:12pm)

  • In the latest one released 2020 Greenock came as the most deprived area in Scotland. Using the SIMD can be tricky, I personally live in a deprived area of Glasgow and I love my neighbourhood. by LumpyResident2585 (Mon 23rd Aug 2021 8:54am)

  • Totally fine to go alone, it can actually be a lot more enjoyable than going in a group. From my personal experience, some people will be surprised and feel sorry for you (dunno why), others will get it. Polo is a super friendly club, you will have a great night! by LumpyResident2585 (Fri 27th Aug 2021 12:24am)
  • I went a few years ago and it was a bit disappointing. It really felt like an opportunity for brands to sell rather than as an opportunity for vegan people to exchange ideas or buy tasty food. This could have changed, and if you don't have anything to do it could be a decent weekend plan. Let us know how you get on if you end up going by LumpyResident2585 (Thu 23rd Sep 2021 9:13pm)

  • I have been a year with them. So far so good. The only downside was the engineers that came to fit the router, they will need to drill through your wall and put tables on your walls. This is totally fair enough but they were very bad at it, I had to make sure that they drilled and run the cable through not very visible places. by LumpyResident2585 (Sun 6th Feb 2022 6:56pm)
