  • Your mum can contact the local Health Protection Team about this (Greater Glasgow & Clyde phone number is at the bottom of the pdf in the link) and on the Health Protection Scotland website, you should find the guidance for home carers working with COVID-19 positive clients Hope this helps! https://www.hps.scot.nhs.uk/web-resources-container/covid-19-guidance-for-non-healthcare-settings/ by Mad_Radge (Thu 14th Jan 2021 3:22pm)
  • I had someone in to check our water heater today (definitely essential). You need a working kitchen - this would definitely be classed as essential. If you have further concerns, I’d agree in checking with the company installing the appliances on their safety measures while they’re in your property. Please don’t phone the police or the NHS Covid advice line for this as they’ll likely just refer you to the gov.scot website or the kitchen fitters by Mad_Radge (Tue 9th Feb 2021 5:12pm)
  • I go to Jim Kelly at [Clyde Motor Engineers](clydemotorengineering.co.uk) in Hillington and my family have been going there for years too. Would highly recommend! by Mad_Radge (Thu 11th Feb 2021 1:19pm)
  • I’ve just heard that too - it was so loud. They’re still going a wee bit still but sound massive by Mad_Radge (Thu 11th Feb 2021 10:29pm)

  • I grew up in Knightswood under the flight path and it’s totally fine. You don’t really notice it at all. by Mad_Radge (Sun 21st Feb 2021 12:01pm)
  • I think they’re pretty laxed about parking - my mum was in for a long time and I’ve parked in the staff area (thinking I’d be only a short time which turned into hours). I would also sometimes park on the road that leads down to the old Southern General as well and had no issues there too. by Mad_Radge (Thu 25th Feb 2021 9:50pm)
  • Is this building is part of the Tron Theatre? Looks really similar to the rehearsal space across from it. If so, I’m presuming it’s related to Hamlet? by Mad_Radge (Sun 28th Feb 2021 3:07pm)

  • BMI Ross Hall is a fairly standard place to go for this sort of thing. I’d try getting a quote from them. by Mad_Radge (Wed 14th Apr 2021 10:55am)
  • https://www.sandyford.scot/sexual-health-services/gynaecology/ by Mad_Radge (Thu 15th Apr 2021 12:16pm)
  • I’ve had loads of issues with this. My GP originally referred me to an NHS gynaecologist at the New Victoria (which took months and wasn’t very good). I then went to a private gynae at BMI Ross Hall and had to stop as I couldn’t afford it. I stumbled on the Sandyford’s website and saw they have a gynae clinic (does need a GP referral) but I phoned them up and was seen within a week (this was even during lockdown). My GP never told me of this NHS service, which really angered me as it could have saved me thousands. by Mad_Radge (Thu 15th Apr 2021 12:15pm)
  • They managed to see me in May 2020 which was amazing. The suspended services are things like STI checks, rather than treatments. by Mad_Radge (Thu 15th Apr 2021 12:21pm)
  • Yes, and they’re so kind. Sometimes their appointments on the day can run late by about half an hour or so but it’s worth it. I’m still waiting on physiotherapy and pain clinic related to my condition, but the Sandy have put me on the right medication and given me the proper diagnosis after years of searching. by Mad_Radge (Thu 15th Apr 2021 12:20pm)
  • I really hope you get this sorted as I know how hard it is to get good gynaecological treatment! by Mad_Radge (Thu 15th Apr 2021 12:25pm)
  • I’ve lived in Glasgow, Cardiff & London and have spent a lot of time working in Newcastle and Manchester. Glasgow has felt by far the safest. I don’t think I’ve ever had someone shout from their car at me here. Again, like anywhere, always be careful (mad that I even need to say that). by Mad_Radge (Mon 19th Apr 2021 2:49pm)
  • “You’re getting raped tonight” was a memorable one in Cardiff. In London, I would be walking home to Brockley (quiet residential area) and on two separate occasions, guys in cars pulled up next to me asking if I had a boyfriend. Newcastle was quite common, particularly on a Friday or Saturday night when all the guy’s are pished. It shouldn’t matter what I was wearing, but these were all when I’d just be walking home from work in jeans and a big jacket. by Mad_Radge (Mon 19th Apr 2021 5:36pm)
  • The Prancing Stag in Jordanhill - not very well known, but it rapidly became my favourite last year! Also agree with Five March, Ka Pao & Mother India too by Mad_Radge (Wed 28th Apr 2021 9:42pm)

  • Definitely good guy - heard a story of of him on a night out, and there was a wee acting student there who was absolutely pished and missed the last bus from Edinburgh to Dundee. He got him in a taxi and paid for him it the way back. by Mad_Radge (Wed 8th Sep 2021 6:00pm)
  • I know this is totally from the rumour mill, but I was told the people who live there have been offered a ridiculous amount of money by the COP26 organisers to rent them out by Mad_Radge (Sun 26th Sep 2021 10:43am)

  • Titan IT repairs fixed my screen’s crack within a couple of days and also saved my cousin’s laptop after she dropped it in a river. Would highly recommend them by Mad_Radge (Wed 27th Oct 2021 8:00pm)
  • She genuinely fell in the Thames with it, dried it out, came back to Glasgow that weekend and took it to them. I’ve used them every time my phone screen’s cracked too. They’re great! by Mad_Radge (Wed 27th Oct 2021 10:31pm)
  • She was down in England walking home on a really badly-lit country path one night. She was looking at her phone screen for directions (screen was really bright), looked up to see where she was going but it was pitch black. Being a bit dazzled from her phone, she stumbled into the Thames. Luckily ok as people heard her screaming, but absolutely mad at the same time. by Mad_Radge (Thu 28th Oct 2021 9:54am)
  • Came for laptop advice, left with a laugh by Mad_Radge (Thu 28th Oct 2021 10:01am)
  • I don’t think it’ll be *that* bad, it might take a wee while longer getting home if there’s diversions. It might be worth seeing if you can pre-book a taxi or private hire just for peace of mind by Mad_Radge (Sun 31st Oct 2021 7:51am)

  • Honestly, go see as many shows you can and get in touch with the directors & companies of the shows you love! As an actor with that much experience, try reaching out to agents (Brennan Artists, Keddie Scott, Hunwick Associates are good Scottish based agencies). It might also be worth setting up a Spotlight account as this is the best way of casting directors seeing you. Stage Managers in Scotland are highly specialised and most professionals have studied at college level/ will have many years experience (so I wouldn’t recommend stage management as an alternative to acting). In terms of seeing shows in Glasgow, go to places like the Citizens Theatre, the Tron, see work by the National Theatre of Scotland, go to Edinburgh and see shows at the Traverse and the Lyceum. by Mad_Radge (Mon 22nd Nov 2021 11:17pm)

  • I’m travelling through Ireland to get to the US. Aer Lingus sent us an email saying they’ve partnered with Randox so I’ve booked my PCR with them by Mad_Radge (Sat 4th Dec 2021 12:26pm)
  • Ah, I’m fully vaxxed too but need the PCR for the US but luckily Ireland also accept that so no need to get two separate tests. Definitely check Randox as I know they do antigen tests by Mad_Radge (Sat 4th Dec 2021 12:33pm)

  • I was going to say Bawn is really impressive. Best place I’ve come across for fabrics from sustainable sources and the quality is fantastic. by Mad_Radge (Fri 11th Feb 2022 10:34pm)
  • I’ve stayed there and it’s a great location and very safe. Normally easy to find a parking space outside too if needed. Only downside I’d say is there aren’t enough recycling bins for the amount of residents & fill up quite quickly (but seems to be the same problem everywhere else). It’s also a great spot with Partick station only about a 12 min walk away if you’re getting the train to Queen St for Edinburgh. Loads of shops, nice cafes, parks to take the kids to nearby as well. by Mad_Radge (Wed 2nd Mar 2022 1:16pm)

  • I know, was at a mixed gym today but unfortunately have quite bad PTSD and big guys in the gym really trigger it. I do really like going and I know I need to work through it, but in the meantime I want to be able to focus on working out and feeling comfortable when I do. by Mad_Radge (Thu 3rd Mar 2022 8:13pm)

  • Take the train for a wee day trip out to Troon in this weather. All my best charity shop buys have been from there (a lot of wealthier families and you can snag some absolute finds!) All the charity shops are in a wee concentrated area too. It’s a nice afternoon to spend outside of the city. by Mad_Radge (Thu 24th Mar 2022 12:20pm)
  • I don’t know if there’s a rule, but I’d say in Troon’s case it swings towards the latter where there’s a wealthier pool donating and also quite a high percentage of retired folk who are more likely to casually browse. In other places, like in terms of the charity shops somewhere like Partick, they’ve all been going for years but have become much more trendy in the last 5 or so. Now I think of it, most charity shops in a wide range of areas seem to have been there a long time compared to other privately leased shops around them. by Mad_Radge (Thu 24th Mar 2022 6:02pm)

  • I was really disappointed at El Jefe’s. Went one afternoon when it was less than half full - took 20 mins before anyone took our order for drinks and then the food (for two people) took 45 mins to arrive. The cocktails at El Jefe’s did look good, but the service and ridiculously loud guitarist let the whole thing down. by Mad_Radge (Tue 19th Sep 2023 8:48am)
