  • OP I’m sorry this happened and good job posting it. I just don’t get flashers. Why do it? What are they hoping for? That the recipient will be swooned and fall for them? It’s clearly terrifying for them: by Monty_Stranger (Wed 18th May 2022 2:45pm)
  • Glasgow is a great city steeped in history and people are fantastic on the whole. I’m from northern England but have lived here for 15 years. As others have said the problems here are found in most cities. Covid has closed down a lot of businesses particularly in the city centre which is a shame. Boarded up premises are never a good look and attract untowards. My main gripe with Glasgow is the council want to be this green, progressive establishment. Some of the policies are inappropriately supported by the infrastructure. There is no train to the airport which is a huge issue for a city of this size and stature. Similarly the banning of cars in town and reinstating parking charges on Sundays is hardly helping revive trade in desperate need. Poor planning decisions in the past have left eyesores (M8) and terrible road layouts. That said I love it here and found my wife and have a kid. • If you were tactical and a Labour supporter you would vote to get the SNP out as a priority - at any cost. Those snp supporters would likely fall to Labour both MSPs and MPs. This will boost seat count in WM and you never know may tip a majority in Labours favour. Personally I think the SNP are a weak party with poor quality of candidates and only one policy. This is dangerous for Scotland and it’s people. Play the long game by Monty_Stranger (Thu 26th May 2022 5:54pm)
  • Well you could say they don’t want independence. Then they would be accountable for everything and can’t blame Westminster. It’s a shame people have such strong feelings about an independent Scotland that they would harm fellow Scots. Just sayin by Monty_Stranger (Thu 26th May 2022 9:09pm)
  • I’m all for another vote. They will lose again and the circus continues. Meanwhile the country falls apart due to incompetence. There are no winners here my friend by Monty_Stranger (Thu 26th May 2022 11:23pm)
  • Some top replies here. For me as a non wegie from England been here 15 years Infrastructure - road layouts, potholes, transport No train to airport and £4 drop off charge Not enough decent kebab shops by Monty_Stranger (Sun 29th May 2022 12:19am)
  • That’s terrible mate - for you and his family friends. Most of all him. by Monty_Stranger (Wed 1st Jun 2022 9:54pm)
  • Mrs went out with her mum chums to Massimos in Bearsden. There were six of them. It was a late one on Tuesday night. No taxis!!! And we had a 7 month old asleep so I couldn’t go and get them. Eventually they waited an hour and got in a cab. This was midnight……next thing I know mrs and her friend are in the house jabbering away and I get up to see what’s going on. Turns out they got in a cab and after a couple of mins the cab company calls and asks if they are still needing one as the driver is at the restaurant….they basically got in a random car and the guy was silent!! Bloody creep!!! He didn’t say anything t he whole journey! So they both get out at our house and I got up to drive her friend home. by Monty_Stranger (Wed 8th Jun 2022 5:20pm)
  • Kelvinside is an ok first spot. Watch out for Maryhill road side as it can be shit. Also be prepared to keel over in hysterics when you first get the subway. Compared to NYC these are noddy trains by Monty_Stranger (Wed 15th Jun 2022 6:57pm)
  • It needs a train station if it wants to charge 4 bl00dy pounds to drop off and pick up. by Monty_Stranger (Thu 16th Jun 2022 2:49pm)
  • I concur. We had a daughter who was stillborn during covid. They arranged the certificate over the phone and sent it to us in the post. We needed it for funeral arrangements. The guy put my wife’s dob as my daughters. Silly mistake but ok. We called back and he said “yous need to send it back before getting a new one” No apology, nothing. by Monty_Stranger (Thu 16th Jun 2022 2:55pm)
  • I don’t cycle and to be clear I’m all in favour of cycle lanes to encourage more cyclists but GCC are terrible at planning and implementing them. From a car perspective we depend on it to pick my mother from central when she comes to visit. This kicked off my rant as there’s no official pick up/drop off place for central and she’s got which is another disaster and I got stung on the bus gate coming over the Kingston bridge. by Monty_Stranger (Thu 16th Jun 2022 10:28pm)
  • Birds cannot be touched especially if they have made a nest and laid eggs. By ‘cannot be touched’ I mean it’s a criminal offence. As Crabbita says wait a few weeks and deal with it then. They will move on. Also Starlings are ace (but can be noisy) by Monty_Stranger (Sun 19th Jun 2022 11:10am)
  • East Dunbartonshire ain’t bad either and parts are closer to the city. GCC is awful. Covid response was the tell-all from my perspective. East Dunbartonshire were up and running a gazillion times faster than GCC and I for one am grateful for it by Monty_Stranger (Mon 20th Jun 2022 6:57pm)
  • One main difference is the SNP govern up here as a one policy party. Be prepared for poor public services and incompetence on a grand scale. Ignore the vote downs for this comment. Do your own research by Monty_Stranger (Sun 3rd Jul 2022 12:06pm)
  • I can vouch for this. Sting at euro car parks in partick (sainsburys etc) Took legal advice (ahem I mean google) and ignored the prats. Secret is to not engage at all. They will go away as pursuing a 100 quid is more hassle than it’s worth. Note this does not apply to PCNs or FPNs which are legally binding by Monty_Stranger (Tue 23rd Aug 2022 5:54pm)
  • Man this is so true. GCC are hurting drivers to the city and any commentary on here is shot down by cyclists who think we are living in Amsterdam. by Monty_Stranger (Tue 30th Aug 2022 1:47pm)
