  • The same people as Shawarma King? Didn’t know that! by Panda_Ruadh (Sun 8th May 2022 7:01am)
  • We would ideally love to live Southside, but the prices have gone crazy! We used to live in Shawlands when we were renters. We really regret not buying in the area now - we used the First Home Fund, which means when we sell our current house we’ll have to give 10% back to the Scottish Government. Feel like we’ll be going back to square one now… People keep saying that the property bubble will surely burst and that this madness in the Southside will cool down. I really don’t think so! by Panda_Ruadh (Thu 30th Jun 2022 2:17pm)
  • I’m not sure, as we haven’t sold our house yet. We’re kinda watching the market and figuring things out… Put it this way - when we sell our current home, we’ll have to go for a home of much less worth. For example, say we sell ours for £260k, we’ll only be able to afford to bid £237k for a place. So the SG makes a profit on your sale if your home has appreciated in value, which ours has. But I suppose that’s how shared equity works! by Panda_Ruadh (Fri 1st Jul 2022 5:37pm)
  • I saw a place in Battlefield that was offers over £199k and it ended up going for around £269k!! by Panda_Ruadh (Fri 1st Jul 2022 5:40pm)

  • It’s amazing how most answers from everyone are the same. We’re thinking of moving back to Glasgow (currently in Helensburgh) and we could probably only afford a two bed tenement - if we’re lucky! We’ve got a one year old, so the noise (both from us and neighbours) is something I worry about. And the cold. And damp… Houses are miles out or really expensive. Not getting a new build again! by Panda_Ruadh (Sat 28th Jan 2023 9:13am)
  • We’re in a new build and we’ve had problems due to shoddy work. So we’ve lost faith in the house, you could say. When you have a big mortgage to pay for the thing, you resent it. The house isn’t all that warm, and we find we do have to put the heating on fairly often. The rooms are too small, especially with a baby, and there’s fuck all storage. We also know that the house won’t be standing for as long as older homes! by Panda_Ruadh (Sat 28th Jan 2023 5:34pm)
  • This is why we want to move! by Panda_Ruadh (Sat 28th Jan 2023 9:59pm)
  • This makes me want to go on a pub crawl to each pub mentioned… 😜 by Panda_Ruadh (Wed 8th Feb 2023 9:03pm)
  • Sallochy Campsite, by Loch Lomond. Beautiful spot, especially in spring (in May you can hear cuckoos!). They have toilets and a wash station. You can also hire fire pits. Ranger on site. I brought a bunch of pupils there and they loved it! by Panda_Ruadh (Thu 9th Feb 2023 1:37am)
  • I should also mention that they sell bags of firewood too. by Panda_Ruadh (Thu 9th Feb 2023 1:40am)
  • It’s so cool how clear they were even on phone cameras! Thanks for clarifying that it was Jupiter and Venus. by Panda_Ruadh (Thu 23rd Feb 2023 8:18pm)
  • Because the council budget has been slashed to fuck so street cleansing doesn’t happen, people are scummy bastards for littering and everyone is scunnered. by Panda_Ruadh (Tue 7th Mar 2023 8:46pm)
  • I did it 11 years ago! No regrets! I speak Irish and learned Gaelic, so it was easy for me to make friends in the Gaelic community. But folk in Glasgow are sound, so it’s easy to make friends. It was easy enough to get jobs when I moved over, but I’m not sure what it’s like now. by Panda_Ruadh (Tue 21st Mar 2023 7:57pm)
  • I’ve not been recently, but my experience is that ducks hatch later than March in Glasgow. Probably because our spring really only starts in April. by Panda_Ruadh (Tue 21st Mar 2023 8:18pm)
  • It’s funny you’re asking this, as I’ve been hankering for a wee Bewleys since the usual brand I’ve used over here has turned shit. My nanna used to always have the green label one at home. by Panda_Ruadh (Sun 26th Mar 2023 7:25pm)
