  • This is in Tradeston. Me and my mate had a taxi drive about for 10 mins looking for it then eventually got out and followed the very faint noise of banging techno...which led us to the door! ha by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 24th Jun 2019 3:33pm)
  • Same! It was mental, looked like that film where civilsation has collapsed and people are living in an old, abandoned shopping centre.....but with techno! by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 24th Jun 2019 3:30pm)
  • Transmit also on. Neon fishnet, orange fake tan and swinging jaws as far as the eye can see in the city centre. by Quing_laQueefa (Sun 14th Jul 2019 12:02pm)

  • Union Street is surely the worst fucking street ever. Looks like fucking Total Recall! If I was a tourist and got off the train at Central I'd get right back on. by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 10th Oct 2019 9:12pm)
  • I think there will be a massive change in public transport with the air quality zones coming in. Hope so! by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 10th Oct 2019 9:15pm)
  • Working from the comfort of my scratcher today! Yus. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 29th Oct 2019 12:33pm)
  • 120 parking spaces for 200+ flats....that will be fun! Parking in Dennitoun is already an absolute joke. Other than that, should make some difference! by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 28th Nov 2019 3:10pm)
  • I don't drive, I walk from dennistoun to town and its not far at all so agreed nae need for cars. However, I think there is a chance people with cars could potentially make areas like Duke Street and whitecraigs even more full of cars if they can't get a space in their own area. The whole place is jam packed with cars. by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 29th Nov 2019 8:02am)
  • I also think you should definitely try and swing past The Drovers for a drink and a look! Very old fashioned and quirky pub. [https://www.droversinn.co.uk/](https://www.droversinn.co.uk/) by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 19th Dec 2019 10:47am)
  • Hey! I am a member of Glasgow Over Plastic, we are a social enterprise who run litter picks every month. We also collect information, run workshops and (try to) create waste composition information from out events - so get in touch and maybe you can come along to our next one? Googling the name should take you to our website. by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 21st Feb 2020 1:17pm)
  • Awesome!!! by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 21st Feb 2020 1:23pm)
  • Excellent. We are always looking for new long term volunteers and helping hands for other projects too by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 21st Feb 2020 3:41pm)

  • Cheers. by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 21st Feb 2020 4:01pm)
  • We try to do one every month. by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 21st Feb 2020 6:50pm)
  • Yeah it's a huge problem. We are doing the clean ups alongside education, workshops and pushing for big changes in how the litter gets there in the first place. We always welcome new guests from far and wide so please come along x by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 21st Feb 2020 8:11pm)
  • Hiya, I'm sure we generally ask the volunteers to stay away from collecting them at all, but if we do get them, we have a sharps box and someone insured to collect and dispose of them. by Quing_laQueefa (Sun 23rd Feb 2020 7:42pm)
  • Yeah it's a real shame the state of it. So much potential going to waste. Would love to see it as a space which could benefit the community. by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 24th Feb 2020 12:01pm)
  • I feel like no matter what goes there, it will be years before that smell of pish dissapears. by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 24th Feb 2020 5:12pm)
  • Yeah that's true. We also run school workshops, do talks, work with local businesses and try to educate and inspire so that we can tackle the plastic problem much earlier along the material life cycle. But the clean ups are always a great way to bring people together and share the message whilst doing a good deed. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 25th Feb 2020 9:19pm)
  • Apparently 100% goes to the Simon Community to help but the essentials for homeless people. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 3rd Mar 2020 8:47pm)
  • Its for work, in a small (quiet) office. My toastie machine idea was veto'd so I can't see them going for a soda stream! ha. by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 9th Mar 2020 2:43pm)
  • I thought so too but looked today. Maybe try another one. by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 9th Mar 2020 2:43pm)
  • Hopefully the sparkling version will be the last to go! by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 9th Mar 2020 2:48pm)
  • I'm more city centre but that's defo good to know so...thanks! :D by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 9th Mar 2020 2:47pm)
  • There are already multiple passive aggressive emails weekly about dirty spoons and bins. A toastie machine would be the end of days by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 9th Mar 2020 4:02pm)
  • Yeah hopefully it's back up and running ASAP. Love the food and the decor! by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 12th Mar 2020 3:02pm)

  • I would also definitely be keen to learn! Also hoping to move for work - would be good to be kept in the loop with what you find! :) by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 15th Apr 2020 2:15pm)
  • Theres something really hopeful about this photo. Love it. And it's definitely a good advert for the car-free city centre ideas! Looks amazing. by Quing_laQueefa (Sun 19th Apr 2020 1:03am)
  • Hey! Late to this but....would you consider an OU course? Especially if you are now finding yourself with some spare time on your hands and having a bit of a newly single wobble (been there!!), it can be really cost effective way to get a degree or you can even pick and choose subjects. Having now went to uni twice and studied with the OU, I can honestly say I felt the quality of learning was equal and maybe even more engaging with the OU. Alternatively, could you go and do a Masters in a topic? A lot of them now are either finded or you will get a loan for, which you can pay back when you are earning....and a lot of them you don't necessarily need the same undergrad skills it will be tough (but if you love the topic and / or are sick fed up of your previous shite job) you will definitely be able to power through. There is tonnes of support and, the social life and new avenues it can open for you might be just what you need. When I went to Strathclyde, even though our degree was in the Cicil Engineering & Environment school, I had come from social sciences, there was a guy with a business degree and a girl who had been to art school. You could even do a PT night time Masters which could be in line with your current job? Sorry for the hunners of info but I was where you are a few years ago: newly single, living with my mum and in a job I fucking hated and going back to Uni absolutely changed my life for the better. Good luck and feel free to PM! by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 24th Apr 2020 10:46am)
  • I went onto my community Facebook page and found movers (about a mobth ago) who were able to move all my belongings out my house in less than an hour. Where are they based and I'll PM the guys name? They were great. by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 5th Jun 2020 10:23am)
  • Hey! I am part of Glasgow Over Plastic. We are a social enterprise who are trying to eradicate problematic single use plastic throughout the city and to prevent it reaching waterways particularly. Whilst our focus is plastic, we do lots of litter picks throughout the city and have ran school workshops, seminars, talks to universities and lots more outreach activities. Check out our website or get in touch and we can chat 😊 by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 8:52pm)
  • So pretty! Do you have a shop? by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 25th Jun 2020 2:25pm)
  • My mate and I just watched, really really enjoyed it and could've watched more. Feels like there is just so much fear and uncertainty at the moment and people are turning to anger or looking for a "cause" because they feel scared and powerless. I honestly never thought we would be in a situation where sectarianism would somehow intersection with statue protection and people would be shouting about Barack Obama and the new world order in George Square. Fucking mental. Will definitely watch any more of your stuff. by Quing_laQueefa (Sat 27th Jun 2020 1:55pm)
  • It's horrible eh? I had to wait on a bus daily in union street, a few years ago and felt genuinely uneasy back then, and it has actually worsened since then. There was a meeting in February 2020 about potential plans for the Egyptian halls (the big scaffolded eyesore) but I've never been able to find minutes or any outcomes. Even just anywhere outside buchanan (with its countless charity muggers) is just so grim and horrible. Rubbish, dodgy characters and closed down shops. Sauchie Hall Street looks like the gaza strip and I don't see how pedestriabising it is going to reopen all the shops which have closed and change the absolute carnage which takes place most nights there outside the bars. I think trongate has given some spaces free for artists to use and it seems to really be becoming a bit more "cooler" (read, gentrified and hipster), but considering that used to be well dodgy, it's definitrly seems to have switched places quite a bit. Makes me really sad to see the city centre. I'm a "proud glaswegian" but fuck its not easy. by Quing_laQueefa (Sun 28th Jun 2020 6:18pm)
  • I live in dennistoun and I absolutely love it. Walk to work most days (well... I did) It has loads of young people, pubs, nice wee restaurants and it actually has quite a nice community feel. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 7th Jul 2020 6:38pm)
  • Aw that sounds exactly what I'm after. Thanks a lot! by Quing_laQueefa (Mon 13th Jul 2020 12:52pm)

  • I work on the street next to it and have really not missed it since working from home. Even when I was on lunch at 12 - 1 during the day I truly felt uncomfortable and unsafe. Then there's the "charity collectors" trying to rope you into a chat. It is truly dismal and frankly really saddening. by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 7th Oct 2020 5:59pm)
  • They've changed the name of it!!! by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 16th Oct 2020 2:13am)
  • I live just roon the corner. Don't care what anyone says, I love it! by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 16th Oct 2020 2:13am)
  • Wonder why they changed it. Theyve had that massive duck hanging about for ages too. And thise weird vavns with the mannequins. Haha. by Quing_laQueefa (Fri 16th Oct 2020 10:23am)
  • Nice username! ha! Yeah I feel like it will be weird to come out of a nice 20s style cocktail bar and be in a sea of students, kebabs and people wanting 20p. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 20th Oct 2020 4:28pm)
  • I'm somewhere in between both of these things I would say..... by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 20th Oct 2020 4:32pm)
  • Exactly what I was thinking! And the company looks relatively new. Very very ambitious. I just cant also help but think that part of the street would really need considerable development before I would be really wanting to spend any considerable time in it. I do know they are trying to pedestrianize that whole area but it will still be a while before businesses return. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 20th Oct 2020 4:44pm)
  • I will definitely check it out....when I can by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 20th Oct 2020 4:55pm)
  • Yup! And the plans inside look amazing. It would be great if it kicked off some action round that area. by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 20th Oct 2020 4:55pm)
  • I do not understand why that place is so busy - its is bogging and shite! by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 20th Oct 2020 6:07pm)
  • I would love this! There is a similar page on FB but I deleted it and it's the only thing I miss! by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 21st Oct 2020 10:38am)
  • I have just had to phone 101 for 2 wee guys about 13 walking down the Main St aiming fireworks at people and buildings. I can see it still goin off in the distance...what is the purpose of a stick which shoots out fireworks?!? And how did 2 wee fannies end up with it? So annoyin!!! by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 5th Nov 2020 12:58pm)
  • I honestly find the state of Glasgow heartbreaking. I work up near Bath St, I'm currently working from home but really noticed the place going downhill a few years ago. It's shameful and if I got off the train at Central I would just get back on and go elsewhere. Seriously, what can be done? What can we do as residents and glaswegians? by Quing_laQueefa (Sun 22nd Nov 2020 12:01pm)
  • Worse when you buy an all day (paper ticket) then lose it. Which happens to me every time I think! by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 25th Nov 2020 4:29pm)
  • Ha! I lose everything...aw the time! by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 25th Nov 2020 9:08pm)
  • >The subject heading reminded me of a Bruce Morton routine where he talks about how in England it's called an estate, which brings to mind vast tracts of farmland with well-dressed people roaming around taking care of their livestock, and in the USA it's called a project, which brings to mind a collaborative effort to achieve something for the common good; whereas in Scotland it's called a scheme, which sounds like a dastardly plot > > > >This is so interesting, I will defo check out this Bruce chap! by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 10th Dec 2020 12:49pm)

  • I rent with Residence, who have shops in Uddingston and Dennistoun. They have been excellent. Any time I have contacted them with an issue it has been resolved in 48 hours. New oven, brand new hob, even dropped off some paint as I wanted to touch up a few wee spots on my wall. by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 3rd Feb 2021 1:19pm)
  • Hello! I also live alone and would be happy to go out litter picking or whatever with you. I am city centre and also run an environmental social enterprise which has unfortunately all but totally shit down at the moment! If you'd prefer indoor stuff, we are always looking for volunteers to do blogs or photographs...anything which we can add to our socials and spread the word about environmentalism in Glasgow. I am a total extrovert too and have invested in tonnes of wee side projects so please, give me a wee shout even if you just want a chat. I am always happy to listen/give suggestions!! :D by Quing_laQueefa (Wed 3rd Feb 2021 1:29pm)

I am city centre and also run an environmental social enterprise which has unfortunately all but totally shut down at the moment but I have a house full of high vis's, litter pickers and a tea caddy, we can make a day of it (safely) ;-) If you'd prefer indoor stuff, we are always looking for volunteers to do blogs or photographs...anything which we can add to our socials and spread the word about environmentalism in Glasgow. It's what I do as a full time job too so I am happy to give you some pointers if that helps? • Hello! I have to suggest LinkedIn. I know people have their reservations about it....but having worked in recruitment, then going back to Uni to retrain and applying for jobs in a very specific industry; it has gotten me farther than any other method. Admittedly, there is an 'art' and a degree of networking involved, but its not hard. But really...reaching out to people just to generally find out about their role; if they have industry insight; and if they have any tips for example can be a great way to make contacts, to get insight, and hopefully (like what happened to me) find out they are actually recruiting. Like I said, going in guns blazing with tonnes of questions and demanding a response isnt going to get you anywhere, but really spending some time mapping the industry, the companies, who's who etc will be a massive help. Even adding people and reading the types of news they share, commenting on articles etc. will help you be 'seen' and will also help you when it comes to interview (and promotion) I've been in my job a year now, it is a very smallish part of a sector and LI has been one of the best ways to keep up to date with everything without having to read tonnes of news/articles all the time. I've been approached to collaborate, for jobs, and have gotten a mentor in this way! Hope this helps. by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 11:51am)
  • I have based this on the fact it seems like you maybe have a 'field' (since you were talking about promotion. Obviously this isn't going to be applicable for everything. by Quing_laQueefa (Thu 22nd Jul 2021 11:55am)

  • When planning with Google Maps it should say "number 17" then when you click on it, it should say First Bus or Mcgills for example. The bus stops are pretty shite admittedly! If you have time, I would do a practice run? Fellow ADHD and high anxiety person here so I totally get it. Try not to panic too much, people are late in their first few weeks so try not to get in a state about it and remmeber you will be ther when you are there. I usually plan to try and get the bus (or 2 buses) before the one I actually need where possible. If you can tell me the route I can have a look for you? by Quing_laQueefa (Tue 21st Sep 2021 1:41pm)
