  • I haven't read Tower Block but in another Glendinning book there's an interview with an architect who worked for Wimpey, who built the Mitchellhill tower blocks (now demolished) in Castlemilk. The Glasgow Corporation loved the idea of prestige, even if it meant building tower blocks on the very edge of the Glasgow boundary, off their daylighting axis and on top of a hill. by Redondo_85 (Tue 4th May 2021 11:22pm)
  • People's motivations for defending her seem to be because she's the only far-right candidate the far-right consider remotely pumpable. by Redondo_85 (Sat 8th May 2021 3:32pm)
  • I think that's what he's getting at, if you're talking about 'that accent' clip. In the video one of his pals also slagging him has a neddy accent most would mock. by Redondo_85 (Thu 13th May 2021 12:43am)
  • My dad worked in Dunoon and Dingwall before we moved back to Glasgow, so I have a generic Scottish accent, whereas my wee brother sounds "more" Glaswegian. Never questioned my accent until I first met my mother in law who thought I was English. We had a good laugh about that and said I must just be posh. I later found out after being her son in law for 8 years that she thought I was Canadian hence the accent because my mum lived there when she was younger and just assumed I did too. by Redondo_85 (Thu 13th May 2021 1:03am)
  • Wasn't aware of this. I don't think it's unreasonable to expect clubs to pay to clean up, even when there's no trouble or ontoward behaviour. After all this wasn't officially sanctioned event was it? by Redondo_85 (Sun 16th May 2021 12:07pm)
