  • Chili pepper on balmore road. Looks like any other cheap takeaway food, but everything's bang on. Pizzas, kebabs, Curry's. Honestly never had a bad munch from there. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 19th Nov 2020 5:47pm)
  • Used to do the deliveries there many moons ago, also fine balbirs and chow. They're all great, the West end is probably better than the town for food now by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 19th Nov 2020 5:46pm)
  • Sorry for the late reply. I personally haven't been, but a friend in my work used a little garage that's opposite Morrisons, the one just at the gallowgate. He was impressed and they didn't bump him. If you don't mind traveling, I recommend my cousin's garage just off maryhill road, they'd never try and con anyone, they let you know what needs done before going ahead. They've built up a great reputation and are always busy. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 12th Dec 2020 8:00pm)
  • Coach driver here, although technically we can't remove someone for not wearing a mask. We've decided in our work amongst the drivers, especially with long distance travel, no mask no seat. Adults coming on, saying their exempt when they're clearly at it, then trying to sit directly behind you, nah! Folks traveling 50+ miles in a metal tube with wheels without a mask, drunk, hungover. There needs to be some better deterrent. Also, them sticking crap in their mouths and leaving it at their arse, for us to clean up after them. Pure ignorance. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 13th Dec 2020 12:18am)
  • That looks amazing, I think I'm gonna need an address and postcode for my sat nav. Haha by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 24th Dec 2020 1:08pm)
  • Used to work in that shop many moons ago. Great bunch a guys n gal's in there. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 2nd Jan 2021 6:30pm)
  • Yep it's dangerous. Took the dog his walk and lost count of times I nearly went on my farter. The safest place to walk was the cycle lanes lol. Be careful folks by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 4th Jan 2021 3:19pm)
  • A really nice place, looks great at night with those Street lights they have too. Beautiful picture. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 7th Jan 2021 6:20pm)
  • Right across from my work, I thought I recognised that lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 27th Jan 2021 7:43pm)
  • I second this. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 4th Mar 2021 8:13pm)
  • So does that make you a junkie or an old guy lol. Going back to the op, I travel for work all over Britain, believe me Glasgow isn't that bad. Sure there's fannys, but that's the same everywhere, I wouldn't swap Glasgow for any other UK major city. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 5th Mar 2021 11:06pm)
  • Had this in the past, what I would do is wait till they're resting/sleeping and put a speaker against the wall and blast hardstyle. They lasted a couple of days then everything went normal. But every now and again when they got loud I blasted the hardstyle just to remind them. Even went out to Asda and left the music blaring. Trust me they're probably oblivious to the sound their making and they don't like it one bit when the shoe is on the other foot. Do not give in. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 6th Mar 2021 11:53am)
  • Seen this and thought I'd chance an arm lol. I'm off must weekends and looking to get back into golf. I'm fairly awful but I really enjoy it. I'd be happy to play pretty much anywhere in and around Glasgow. Anyone needs someone to play a round and make themselves feel better at the game after watching me feel free to message. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 19th Mar 2021 8:29pm)
  • Anyone know why they won't bring the original back? Demand is at an all time high, so they don't really have to worry about the increased cost due to sugar tax. Or am I missing something? by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 23rd Mar 2021 11:40am)
  • During the very start of lockdown, I worked with a private company called Joe junk doing bulk uplift. They'll happily travel to come and collect. I was only a driver and wasn't entirely privy to what they charged, but they couldn't of been that bad, because it was constant work. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 29th Mar 2021 6:09pm)
  • Used to be a delivery driver for them many moons ago. Their curry's are stunning, can't recommend the lamb korma highly enough. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 10th Apr 2021 10:20am)
  • I'm a coach driver, previously worked at first bus. I think it's cause we are easy targets, with the a sign that says abuse us. I've did delivery driving for my local takeaway in my car and never been noticed. Stick a badge on and your fair game to everybody. I feel for you guys using your bike or motorbike, you have little to no protection. The same idiots that abuse you and I, order food, take the bus and depend on our services, it's crazy. Don't let it get to you, I did and became angry and quick to react. I ended up quiting first bus due to stress. I can't emphasis that enough or you'll end up knocking years of your life due to stress and anger. We're not all like them, do just think when one guy pisses you off there's another 100 thanking you for the job you do. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 12th Apr 2021 8:06pm)
  • Are you allowed to drink in parks? We seen the pics of mass gatherings that were condemned, and rightfully so. I'd rather have a pint in a pub than break the rules during lockdown. I'm gonna wait till it calms down a bit then go to my local, a burger and a pint of cider sounds like heaven to me right now lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 28th Apr 2021 11:03am)
  • I'm a bit too old to be drinking in parks, I'll leave that to the younger ones lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 28th Apr 2021 12:36pm)
  • The coach company I work for has been asked to do some work for this event. It will be fun and games, nothing worse than road closures when your driving these things lol. With hopefully in time, things getting back to normal this will be awful to the local communities and businessess. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 27th May 2021 2:30pm)
  • I'm with you op, and if your moany neighbours are still bitching, tell them I'll house swap every time there's an event on lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 3rd Jun 2021 8:19pm)
  • Love it, got an almost 80's aura about it. Great pic. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 13th Jun 2021 12:03am)
  • I was born in Ruchill and grew up down south. When we came back to Glasgow i went to Ruchill to visit. I've still got family and friends there. It's changed so much for the better, but I did miss the old tenaments/close buildings. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 13th Jul 2021 12:25pm)
  • Myself and the dog were getting attacked by a seagull only a couple of hours ago in my garden. Turned out it's baby must of been relatively close and thought we were a threat. I shouted my daughter down, to see if I wasn't going mad, it attacked her too lol. I think the baby bird was in the neighbours garden. Those things are vicious lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 18th Jul 2021 10:36pm)
  • Whatever floats your boat. It does turn out that while the baby is young the parents follow it. It's obviously wandered near our garden, like been in a close neighbours garden. Anyways keep the paranoia up, it's a good laugh. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 19th Jul 2021 10:48am)
  • My mum lives in acre and tells me of the weekly dramas that happen outside. My gran, auntie and cousin live in the wyndford and have never had any bother, and no told me of any. My aunt, like you moved from acre, she much prefers it in the wyndford. If I was you, I'd move. Hope everything works out for you. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 3rd Aug 2021 9:38pm)
  • Thanks man, was doubtful myself and just hoped someone knew a place lol by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 24th Aug 2021 7:32pm)
  • Yeah I see deliveries some morning's on my way to work for local shops. But my mate works in Tesco and he says mother's pride mostly delivered last. Usually Warburton's and kingsmill are the earliest lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 24th Aug 2021 8:44pm)
  • That's a great shout, would take little time to nip through and see. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 24th Aug 2021 8:41pm)
  • Aye mate Tesco Maryhill and St rollox is no far from me either way, I should check them but being a idiot I just want it fresh. It'll be no bother getting a day old bread from anywhere. We're going to my mates in Thursday and having a barbecue on the Friday, so was hoping the bread wouldn't be 2 days old, if you get me. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 24th Aug 2021 9:12pm)
  • Heading to Hextable if that's any good to you? by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 25th Aug 2021 7:29am)
  • Sorry I forgot to add that those 2 Tesco's are 24 hours as well. But Asda might get their deliveries earlier, cheers. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 25th Aug 2021 7:36am)
  • Today is warmer up here, I told him he better sort the weather out! by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 25th Aug 2021 7:07pm)
  • Imagine the pain knowing you can't have it! My poor mate, fuck moving to England if you have to go through that pain๐Ÿคฃ by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 25th Aug 2021 7:07pm)
  • A big thanks mate, did this and we managed to grab 3 fresh loaves. All went well and they went down a treat! by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 30th Aug 2021 9:19pm)
  • I work 2 minutes from there, thank fuck I got back to work and finished before all that arrived. Hate being stuck in traffic because of this shite. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 18th Sep 2021 9:16pm)
  • Used to do takeaway deliveries down the West end. Was mostly the Indians and chow on byres road. Ashoka on Ashton lane, balbirs on church Street and the curry pot on Dumbarton road. My favourite was balbirs, the lamb korma is truly the best. Only korma I've ever liked lol. There's loads of great places, gives you an excuse to try others lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 22nd Sep 2021 7:08pm)
  • I've ate out in restaurant's and fast food places on my own many a time, and I've never once thought anything of it. The idea of watching a movie on your own with zero interruptions sounds amazing. Never done it yet myself, but would happily. Your happiness is the most important thing, do what ever your want mate. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 11th Oct 2021 7:46pm)
  • Great Western road, is gonna be chaos. It's murder at the best of times. If these guys show up and block that road, there will be a murder lol. I don't mind people protesting, it's their rights, but I agree this could be the boiling point and spill over. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 13th Oct 2021 11:10pm)
  • I'm a coach driver with no choice but to drive during the cop26. I'm dreading it being honest, irritable impatient drivers with road rage are about to get a whole lot worse. That's before numptys sit or super glue themselves to the roads. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 17th Oct 2021 10:26pm)
  • Unfortunately I do, protesters aren't going to let this opportunity go without trying to put their point across. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 18th Oct 2021 8:44am)
  • Buses won't be on strike during cop26 by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 21st Oct 2021 9:40pm)
  • If your wages were tied to the levels of stress and poor working conditions first bus drivers would be on a lot more. You can see by some comments what people think of bus drivers. The public outside aren't slow in being negative all the way through to physical to them. Other road users don't hide their hatred towards them. Managers want to sack drivers quicker they can hire them. All the while the drivers need eyes everywhere and I mean everywhere to see what's going on, inside the bus and every other angle outside. They are transporting the most valuable thing, human life and trying to do so safely. They drive more miles a month than the average road user does in a year. But if that's easier than taking plates of food to a table, then those porters do deserve more. Being honest, I couldn't last longer than a year with first bus, the stress it brings seriously is that bad, that it can make you ill. A wee daft thing I almost forgot, those buses are baltic in the winter, try sitting on your ass all day in minus temperatures, while all the above goes on lol. I hope everyone gets a pay rise, we all need one. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 21st Oct 2021 10:52pm)
  • Yep had it for a few days, but the cough hasn't left, that's been stuck way me for almost 2 weeks now. You cough now and every cunt shits themselves, it's murder lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 23rd Oct 2021 5:38pm)
  • When I worked at first, if this happened the driver would print out a ticket for passengers to get in the next bus for free. Don't know why he/she never did that? by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 29th Oct 2021 7:21pm)
  • Yep this is very true. I learned this and most other things from other drivers or messing about way it myself. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 29th Oct 2021 9:03pm)
  • When I worked at first, the general rule was 1 dog on a single decker, 2 on a double decker. Most of the time it was down to the drivers discretion and had to judge quickly what can or could happen if it kicked off. The annoying thing was, you'd let a person with a dog on, then some passenger would put a complaint in that they are scared of dogs, without mentioning it to the driver until they got off. Couldn't win lol by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 15th Nov 2021 7:33pm)
  • I lost my dad 3 years ago, and to this day I still have random break downs. The silliest thing can trigger it. It does get easier mate, the feelings of pain and hurt will subside. You'll be left with nice thoughts and happy memories and then you'll begin to heal a little easier. But take it a day at a time, there's no normal way through grief and you'll cope with it with ways that's different to everyone else. Not a day goes by that I don't think of my dad and miss him, but I'm happy with that and can live my normal life again. It just takes a while mate. I'm on Xbox when I'm not working, you ever want a distraction and an ear to listen, I'll be there. Stay strong by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 24th Nov 2021 10:11am)
  • Demand he helps pay for the funeral costs, if you know he's withdrawn the money you'll have proof. Also you'll need support to deal with so much at this difficult time of year. I sincerely wish you well and I'm sorry for your loss. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 15th Dec 2021 10:11am)
  • No, as a former shop staff worker. No. Sure you might get a bargain, or return something that doesn't fit. Boxing Day is a headache. Stay at home, enjoy the hangover and leftovers, get drunk, the shops can wait. Edit, don't drink and type. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 26th Dec 2021 4:32pm)
  • 100% your point still stands. I moaned at my daughter for going out Xmas night. Just because you can, doesn't make it right. I asked her if she wanted to work Xmas day, she said no. Took a minute for the penny to drop. If you don't want to work Xmas day and boxing, don't make others do it. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 26th Dec 2021 5:18pm)
  • University cafe bottom of Byres road, used to do a great fry up. Was fresh made and lots of it. No sure if it's still open, I hope it is. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 27th Dec 2021 1:31pm)
  • For work I sometimes drive the covid vaccination bus. I drive to remote villages, nurses and staff meet the coach and set up a mobile vaccination centre on the coach. One day, away down past Moffat, the anti vaccers show up. Scream and threaten the nurses, shout abuse and folks getting the vaccines and put up posters of complete utter shit that was the most fucked up thing I've read in a long time. That was the first time I've actually seen it, and they were utter deplorable arseholes. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 3rd Jan 2022 12:19am)
  • Vito's on Hawthorn Street is really good. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 3rd Jan 2022 9:08am)
  • Hi I'm just round the corner from you, small world lol. There's a sign at the top of skirsa Street, shame no neighbour said anything. How'd they move it? It's a good idea to check it over make sure it's exactly the same before they moved it. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 17th Jan 2022 9:57pm)
  • I'm only around the corner, you ever need anything just message me๐Ÿ‘ by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 20th Jan 2022 7:26pm)
  • Brilliant by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 25th Jan 2022 9:03pm)
  • Worst job, easy, first bus. The abuse from passengers, the harassment from management, will break the strongest willed person in no time. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 1st Feb 2022 4:32pm)
  • Anyone know what's the situation and restrictions way swimming? I'm off work and looking to go swimming to help my back. I'll be going on my own and looking for a quiet time as I'm no a strong swimmer and don't want to get in people's way. Preferably Woodside or maryhill area, tho I'm happy to drive a little further if it's better. Many thanks. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 1:43pm)
  • Thanks mate, I looked at the app to book a time. Was no sure what was the best to pick or least busiest out of slow, medium, fast or recreational. No being the best swimmer I think fast is a non starter lol. It's just more to work on my back and try see if it helps. Cheers by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 3rd Feb 2022 4:23pm)
  • You'll be fine mate. If you do get one arsehole that says something, please don't let it put you off, or take it as a representation of us, in general. Come up, be you and enjoy your stay. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 12th Feb 2022 7:46am)
  • No had one in ages, but Balbirs was lovely. Highly recommend the lamb korma. I'm no even a fan of Kormas either lol by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 14th Feb 2022 8:01pm)
  • Absolutely, I don't think I had a bad dish or something I didn't like. I haven't been there in about 5 years, actually did deliveries for them and a few others down the West end. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 14th Feb 2022 11:23pm)
  • I bought mines on gumtree. Did my research, checks, wanted to see both parents, spoke to both owners and seen the dog a few times before we got him. He's 8 years old now and loving life. It can be done. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 23rd Feb 2022 2:58pm)
  • 100%, I drove the 90 many moons ago and I promise you, Lewis Hamilton wouldn't keep that on time in rush hour. Once you hit the royal infirmary heading back to Partick, it's game over. If you think that's bad the number 3 was the worst lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 9th Mar 2022 6:36pm)
  • I've played most, through tee off times once or so. My favourite is the one out milingavie way. Quite long, the par 5's are scary from the tee, and a beauty of a par3 that's way down below you. Cawder is another good one, Clydebank was good too. There's honestly lots of great courses. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 12th Mar 2022 7:02pm)
  • How'd you get on mate? Was just wondering this myself and would love to go watch it in a pub way the missus. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 26th Mar 2022 6:29pm)
  • Ashwood garage just between maryhill road and great Western road is great. My cousin works in it. Stevie the guy that runs it is a genuinely nice guy. They're great, and have helped me and the wife so much over the years. Can't recommend them enough. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 26th Mar 2022 6:38pm)
  • You'll see signs outside shops and stuff asking to wear one. I still pop one on when going into shops and using public transport. I can't see anyone saying anything if you aren't wearing one. So come up and enjoy yourself and hope you like our city. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 7th Apr 2022 11:00pm)
  • Try Glasgow Necropolis, they filmed some of the new batman movie there, next to it you've got the Tennent's brewery there, Glasgow's other national drink apperently lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 12th Apr 2022 8:24am)
  • Irn bru by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 12th Apr 2022 12:58pm)
  • No sure, there used to be an astronomer's group/telescope in Acre in Glasgow. Acre road Observatory it's called. Just googled lol. Give them a check? by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 20th Apr 2022 10:04pm)
  • No sure, there used to be an astronomer's group/telescope in Acre in Glasgow. Acre road Observatory it's called. Just googled lol. Give them a check? by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 20th Apr 2022 10:03pm)
  • Definitely the 500 bus as mentioned earlier, they also run the number 77, it'll be cheaper but takes much longer to get to town as it goes around the city. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 21st Apr 2022 7:38pm)
  • What's to stop people tapping on the bus, then tap off instantly, and continue to travel? I don't see the point in it. It's probably just to save the driver time dealing with passengers tickets and let the passengers do it themselves. Might help the buses stay on time a little better? by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 21st Apr 2022 9:37pm)
  • Can't believe someone had to dumb that down for you. Maybe college is a bit of a stretch for you. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 20th May 2022 10:09am)
  • No been in a few years, is it still being looked after? Really enjoyed it back then. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 22nd May 2022 3:18pm)
  • Brilliant, thanks! by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 22nd May 2022 3:46pm)
  • Milarrochy bay, just past balmaha. A hidden gem and a lovely wee walk between the 2. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 23rd May 2022 8:16pm)
  • Vito's Hawthorn Street, sausage supper. Keep saying I'm gonna try one of their munchie boxes lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 28th May 2022 6:30pm)
  • They mostly get tours of the 7 Lochs, a half day tour. Or a full day out in Edinburgh. They do have free time and are allowed to travel to Glasgow, by any means they arrange. I'm a coach driver that does those tours that's glad to see them back, gets me away from the school runs lol. And weirdly, the cruise ships that come into Edinburgh, tend to go to St Andrews or Stirling. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 9th Jun 2022 10:12pm)
  • I worked for them during lockdown. Genuinely good guys, very professional and hard working lads. They'll be quick. Price wise obviously depends on the job, but the prices are competitive. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 9th Jun 2022 10:17pm)
  • Ann summers? by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 20th Jun 2022 10:55am)
  • Yup this is 100% true. When I worked at first, you were given sheets of paper called "idiot guide" if I remember correctly lol. Aptly named lol. Anyhoo, it was simple directions with Street names and landmarks to look out for. For example, turn left at a certain pub, turn right at the 3 bears. Just because I seen a street sign I had no idea where one area began and where another ended. It did cause no end of frustration between passenger and driver and was another thing for passengers to moan about and get angry with us. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 20th Jun 2022 11:39am)
  • Oh and the bus does not indeed go through Pollock country park lol by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 20th Jun 2022 11:44am)
  • If you've got a license try first bus? Sure it's not for everyone, I lasted a year then left. I now drive coaches, no 2 days are the same and you go away on tours. I genuinely love my job. And it was all down to getting my pcv through first. I had to suffer hell to get to heaven lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 21st Jun 2022 9:17pm)
  • No, at that time we had to work longer than 12 months to avoid paying for the training costs. I left shortly after my 12 months was up. I also was told a rumour that signing the contract to pay back the training was pretty much nonsense. But I never tried to challenge that so just bided my time. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 21st Jun 2022 9:29pm)
  • Daft question sorry, anyone know of a good car boot sale on a Saturday? No been to one in ages. I'm sure blochairn is a Sunday, but I'm working on Sunday. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 2:24pm)
  • Cheers mate, hopefully if I'm off work I'll check that out. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 23rd Jun 2022 8:01pm)
  • Want a driver that knows all the streets names? Get a taxi. Bus drivers know their route's. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 25th Jun 2022 5:57pm)
  • They genuinely are really nice. Since I've left first, I still keep in touch with most of the guys I knew. It's just unfortunate the job can become stressful, dealing with the public and bosses who'd sack you quicker than a fast man's fast bits. They have one bad day, or forget to greet 1 out of 500 people they see that day, then it's all over here, how they're bus wankers lol. They're only human, working for a wage to pay bills like the rest of us. Believe me, it's not easy working for first, they deserve a medal for still being there lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 25th Jun 2022 10:39pm)
  • Honestly it would make little to no difference. The public's perception isn't going to change towards drivers. If anything, if it's government run, still has the same issues as they do today, I'd probably expect it to be worse if anything. You'd now get the, "we pay your wages" thrown at the drivers. But drivers may hopefully get more support, if the current management system changes. If it'll be comparable to the, say, council/cleansing department. Then I don't think the quick to fire culture will be there, that it is today. So to sum up, I have no clue lol. Just rambling. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 27th Jun 2022 12:29am)
  • One of my favourites, it's a rocky beach in most parts is Milarrochy Bay. Just up past Balmaha visitor centre. It's also a lovely wee walk that separates the 2. It's got really nice scenery, can be busy, but no Ayr busy lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 11th Jul 2022 7:22am)
  • You can't question a granny, the lynchpins of the family are never wrong. If they say it's tea, I'm starting to boil the kettle lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 18th Jul 2022 6:51pm)
  • Currently living in Cadder, I think it's no bad. I know my neighbours and think I'll stay here forever lol. Can't speak for the other 2 areas but Cadder is decent, just the wee arseholes cutting through and keying cars do my nut in. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 21st Jul 2022 2:08pm)
  • Ingliston hotel have a nice hotel and lodges just out bishopton way. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 27th Jul 2022 10:44am)
  • Used to do the takeaway delivery driving years ago down the West end. Met a good few, Robert Carlyle, Frankie Boyle, Kevin bridges all absolutely brand new. My favourite was Amy McDonald, absolutely beautiful and lovely lassie. Pity her miserable boyfriend Richard foster only tipped me £2 lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 20th Aug 2022 7:26am)

I know that's needle in a haystack stuff, but I don't mind having a look for you the next time I'm taking the dog a walk up there. I usually go up a few times a week. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 23rd Sep 2022 4:58pm)

  • Ex first bus driver here, it's absolutely fine to take it on in its carrier/little box. Being honest, can't see it being a problem even carried on in your arms. Once someone came on with a Tibetan mastiff, never seen a dog that size in my life lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 5th Oct 2022 1:10pm)
  • Absolutely not, have you seen half the donkeys that get on the bus in the city centre on a Friday night? by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 5th Oct 2022 8:04pm)

  • You're actually spot on, sometimes though, bus b can't overtake bus a as then bus b will be running early, which is/was a major no no. But up until those timing points driver of bus a will be raging that bus b doesn't overtake and help out. But bus routes cover most of the city or certainly large parts. Folks forget, one traffic jam, one set of road works at the other end of the city and the whole run is now late. We all know there's road works everywhere. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 3rd Dec 2022 8:59pm)
  • Try no throw it all away mate, you've still got 2 kids that desperately need you. Wait to the dust settles way the bird and talk to her, if that can't work out at least be there and positive for the kids. They'll help you get through these difficult times. You'll be fine mate. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 8th Dec 2022 10:07pm)
  • Yup, when I worked at first bus I knew I had one of those undercover inspectors. Unfortunately my mates mum was standing at the bus stop my number/service didn't stop at, I knew where she was going and I couldn't pick her up. I'd likely have been suspended at the least. I did apologise to her, she just laughed it off lol. But aye, the poor guys probably just keeping himself right, no worth losing a job over at this time of year. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 17th Dec 2022 2:01pm)

  • There's a huge pothole on Springburn road too, heading into Tesco/Costco, coming from town/Royston end. You see cars wheels going so far down they almost hit the bottom of their car off the road. At night a very bad accident could happen. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 10th Jan 2023 11:12am)
  • Silly question, can you play that as a map? I've no got far cry 5 but if you could play that, I'd buy the game lol by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 11th Jan 2023 11:32am)
  • I was diagnosed with sciatica over the phone, given cocdemol and tramadol over the phone. I did get a hospital appointment, mri, and operation, yet still not seen my own doctor. The worst part was coming off those meds that I was on for a year, asking the doctor for help, and something to help with the withdrawals, was told to just cut down. But aye it's murder, I've actually been into my doctor's, to get physio (same building), but i can't see him lol. TBF I just think it's just that busy now, they've little alternative, but to phone as many as they can. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 13th Jan 2023 10:14pm)
  • Yeah it's strange. I'm in the Wyndford visiting my gran every week. I've an aunt that stays in one flat, a cousin that lives in another, and I've never heard of it, or seen anything. Last protest I remember there was when they shut down one of the primary schools. by STRICKIBHOY (Tue 17th Jan 2023 11:23am)
  • When I worked at first bus, this was a daily occurrence. If it wasn't your bus, you heard of someone else getting bricked. It was only a matter of time before something as awful as this happened and made the news. Hopefully it makes other wee bawbags think before they do it. It genuinely affects everyone on the bus. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 18th Jan 2023 9:23pm)
  • Long time ago when a had my interview, they gave me theory test questions to answer before my interview, if they still do that then brush up if needed. Interview was pretty straight forward. You had to last a year, if you didn't they threatened to claim the training costs back. Whether it's a year or 3 now I'm no sure. I was told by older drivers, you could challenge that by arguing you agree to they (pay back training costs) because that's the only way you get the job, essentially blackmailed. I lasted exactly a year give or take a day and never was asked for a penny from them, just their uniform and stuff. You'll need thick skin and the patience of a saint. You'll be hated by passengers, road users and people posting about buses on Reddit lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 21st Jan 2023 11:22pm)
  • 2, 3, 6, 7, 61, 75, 90 are busy routes. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 27th Jan 2023 10:52pm)
  • Really just depends on the driver. When I was there, I just wanted to try keep the bus on time, so I could finish on time. So I wouldn't give 2 shits and keep on driving. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 29th Jan 2023 4:27pm)
  • Houldsworth Street, just behind McDonald's on Finnieston Street. I've parked there and picked up from there. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 6th Feb 2023 1:04pm)
  • You want to see drivers educated, but are happy to make judgement calls when to cross the road in poor weather and lightning conditions? If these are excuses people are using to run across a road, there's no wonder accidents are on the rise. Out of these recent deaths, how many drivers have been prosecuted? by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 9th Feb 2023 10:17pm)
  • That's a very stupid analogy when it comes to life and death, like the taking of risks the original post mentioned. But using your post this time then, almost all? Out of these 6 deaths, how many of the drivers have been prosecuted? You don't have to pass a test to walk, but you do need an understanding of the highway code and traffic systems, to stay safe. But let's neglect that and blame others. I drive for a living, buses and coaches in the city centre, I've seen more than you will. Believe me, an idiot is an idiot wether they drive or walk. This"you don't need a test" isn't an excuse for your behaviour that lets you put yourself and others in danger. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 10th Feb 2023 7:53am)
  • There's zero conversation here, with silly analogy's and statements that everyone's driven coaches over Europe. Zero accountability and acknowledgment that both driver and pedestrians put themselves at risk. I never expected you to answer the question I posed, but you come back with a rhetorical chest beat phrase. I've worked with first bus, then went to a private coach company based just outside the city centre. I've driven all over Britain, with 7 years experience driving coaches. I'm willing to have a conversation if you are but I highly doubt you are. So for the last time, how many drivers have been prosecuted? Just bang your chest and say "drivers baaad" to make yourself feel better. Sure there's a hated towards drivers just now, but to point a finger without looking in the mirror or have a adult conversation is just ignorance at it's finest. Congratulations capitan you win LoL by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 10th Feb 2023 9:55am)
  • I'm not for one moment suggesting you weren't, but were you at the correct bus stop? They have the number and operator on the sign. If the bus doesn't service that stop it can't stop, it's illegal and the driver could get fined and lose his job. The SPT have staff watching for this in the city centre. Again please, I'm not insinuating you were wrong, just trying to help. This is just a common mistake that happens everyday, I still see it happening today. I parked my coach outside the Raddison blue the hotel the other night, but this guy went mental way me because his first bus didn't stop, I showed him the sign and only the red top tourist bus stops there, no first bus, he was mad lol. Also, if the bus can't get into the bus stop properly, he can't go in, obviously they'll try, but if his arse end is sticking out and causing an obstruction, that's another fine and potential job loss. Again, I'm not insinuating anything, just hope this helps others. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 10th Feb 2023 10:42pm)
  • Having worked for SPT, you'll know then once he's serviced the stop and closed the doors he's not supposed to open them again. He shouldn't of shut the door, that's out of order. A good look in the mirrors once everyone is on, double check no one's running for the bus and it's clear to move on before he should shut the doors. Again I just hope just some general info on how buses operate in the city centre will help others. Last time lol, just to help others, if your no 100% sure if in the city centre if it's your stop or not, just check the bus stop, hope Street and renfield Street especially are the worst for it. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 11th Feb 2023 12:30am)
  • Absolutely there's cunts there, was part of the reason I left first. But the majority I met were fantastic guys. It's shit a bad experience totally ruins it all. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 11th Feb 2023 12:15pm)

  • Look at one of those timberbush mini bus rides, they usually pick up from George Square. I'm sure they do a few different trips north and back down in a day and there's a few 3 day tour options too, if you wanna see a little more. by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 19th May 2023 1:15pm)
  • Absolutely, that's shown and drilled into your head, during training, that is a no go area. Instant dismissal and loss of licence. There's no excuses to take that road. My coach is 3.7 in height, and I'm still too scared to go under that bridge lol. Why he didn't stop the bus and seek help, from his depot or police if he was lost I'll never know. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 21st May 2023 8:59pm)
  • Honestly not fast at all, any momentum will take the roof off. If he was to hit it at 5mph and stop, he'd do a lot of damage, but even if he kept a steady speed of 5 mph it would still take the roof off, that bridge ain't going to move. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 21st May 2023 9:06pm)
  • Bit of both, buses tend to crumble at impact, part of their design for safety reasons I'd imagine. Yeah I sincerely hope everyone is fine too. by STRICKIBHOY (Sun 21st May 2023 10:02pm)
  • I've stayed away from it for the reputation it has. Popped into the one at the fort, got a few fritters and they were brilliant. Next time I'll try a supper and see how that goes. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 24th May 2023 7:04pm)
  • I was a baker for a supermarket, showing up to work at 3am and 6am depending on the shift, still drunk or under some influence from the night before. I understand exactly how crap it was and is. If you've got a driver's license? Get your arse to first bus, get your pcv licence and bugger off after the first year, or whatever the staying period is with them. Get into a coach company, you'll travel all over Scotland, doing tours, staying in some lovely hotels, the pay is decent and the tips are fantastic. I've stayed off everything since a got that licence and I'll just enjoy a few beers when it's my days off. I know I won't retire rich but I'll retire happy, the places I've been and the people I've met have been fantastic. Your young enough mate and the coach industry is screaming out for drivers. Sorry for the long post/rant lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 31st May 2023 6:00pm)
  • Coach driver, 15 bangers an hour plus tips. by STRICKIBHOY (Wed 26th Jul 2023 3:26pm)
  • No tried them, but had a doner kebab pie at cappielow when a was watching the game against st mirren, and it was lovely, surprisingly lol. by STRICKIBHOY (Thu 27th Jul 2023 9:15pm)
  • That particular part of road was closed yesterday, with diversions down Charing cross, to join the M8 at the bottom of the town. I'm no sure how long that part of road is closed for. You can take the turn off maryhill road at napierhall Street and join the slip road off great Western road if that helps? by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 28th Jul 2023 9:53am)
  • Aye mate it's reopened thankfully ๐Ÿ‘ by STRICKIBHOY (Fri 28th Jul 2023 9:57am)
  • My neighbour across the street has a driveway that fits 2 cars, where do they park them both? Outside my house! Yup the driveway is empty and they're outside my home. I've asked them to use their driveway and I get the, "we can park anywhere we want" crap. My wife hates confrontation so she begs me not to say anything that'll start an argument. I've thought about using their driveway when it's empty. What pisses me off the most, are cars have been vandalized in my street, and from my home I can't see my car, I'm pretty sure this messes with my insurance too? by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 5th Aug 2023 9:11am)
  • Aye mate, I think if it's got a car in it, then you're illegally blocking it, but I'm sure I could certainly park across it on the pavement outside their home if it's left empty, again. by STRICKIBHOY (Sat 5th Aug 2023 11:48am)
  • Yup many moons ago, was driving the number 2 through Clydebank. This wallopper was blasting his tunes full volume from the back of the bus. I eventually got his attention asked him if he did requests, he said no. So I said get your earphones plugged in course I'm no listing to that crap out get off the bus. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 21st Aug 2023 1:43pm)
  • I was driving along George Square, the traffic lights behind me were red, I could see stopped traffic behind me and what I thought was a cyclist at the lights. About 4 seconds later (lights behind still red) he's caught up and on my left side. If I happened to make the left turn up north Frederick Street I'd have wiped him out, how he travelled so far so fast gave me the fright of my life. I don't know if they are, but proper insurance must be the way to go. I'm talking insurance that's on par with other road users and the usual punishments that comes with not having insurance. by STRICKIBHOY (Mon 23rd Oct 2023 10:01pm)
