  • Kinda moved on to Nation myself in the car. In the house I tell alexa to find a rock station by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 9th Mar 2019 5:45pm)
  • I was about 15 or16 at the time, bunch of us went to it, had a real blast running from room to room but we noticed an addition after "they're in the ceiling" bit. We were all crammed in the lift and my mate looked at the addition right in the eye and said "you're huckled mate. When the lift door opened and the alien comes at you we pushed the poor extra right into it and legged it down the hall, so funny. We were all 15 or 16 tho. Did Edinburgh dungeon this week. The whole experience is very similar if a bit more polished, highly recommend. by SlitheryBuggah (Mon 22nd Apr 2019 2:12am)
  • Brilliant book imo. Met Chris Brookmyre last week in EK, lovely guy and great writer. I know Alan Bissett through a friend, his one man shows are excellent by SlitheryBuggah (Wed 1st May 2019 12:51am)
  • You're only an expat if you're a brit living abroad. You're a damn immigrant if you are a foreigner living here. 😊 In all seriousness call yourself what you want. People have different ideas of what things mean. There's a whole bunch of people out there that think refugee means terrorist. by SlitheryBuggah (Sun 12th May 2019 8:14pm)
  • I used route 66. There's a school out of Victor Devine now too, not sure of name by SlitheryBuggah (Thu 11th Jul 2019 8:25pm)
  • Yup by SlitheryBuggah (Fri 2nd Aug 2019 11:15pm)
  • They've renamed it Glasgow and West. You need to edit it from top right, remove Glasgow and West Scotland and add Glasgow and West. by SlitheryBuggah (Sun 4th Aug 2019 10:47pm)
  • I've ridden with this lad and dog before. Group ride out to Inveraray. Lovely natured wee thing, it honestly can't wait to get going. Loved all the attention too. by SlitheryBuggah (Wed 7th Aug 2019 9:15am)
  • Get yourself on trusted traders and which? Rated people services maybe? I'm a network engineer myself and used to do tech support for Virgin media. Its insane how little understanding there is of the job you do. Older buildings in Glasgow in particular are a nightmare for Wi-Fi signals and a proper networking setup is required to give full coverage. Best of luck bud by SlitheryBuggah (Fri 23rd Aug 2019 12:58pm)
  • Pretty sure it was the bank on Queen Street by SlitheryBuggah (Sun 8th Sep 2019 7:49pm)
  • I ride but something a tad bigger. There's regular run outs from triumph and ducati at weekends in Hillington. If you're near motherwell there's 125 friendly runs from route 66 on a semi regular basis. Try /r/motouk for other ideas by SlitheryBuggah (Mon 23rd Sep 2019 7:33pm)
  • Wee bit further out but 2 fat ladies at the buttery. Stones throw from Sauchiehall Street. by SlitheryBuggah (Wed 25th Sep 2019 2:13pm)
  • If you are looking for a good standard of table then the Ballroom on ledard Road, q club, pockets paisley, Maguires off Hall Hill Road, There's a few more places play league pool and so keep their tables in decent nick, not many in city centre tho by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 12th Oct 2019 12:22pm)
  • Are you a waitress? by SlitheryBuggah (Tue 15th Oct 2019 1:11pm)
  • Snails too. Not tried them myself but friend loves them. Their steak is awesome tho. by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 19th Oct 2019 8:52pm)
  • Was the rat trap before I went, but yeah we're auld 😁😁 by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 16th Nov 2019 5:36pm)
  • I'm a member of Glasgow motherwell and Uddingston pool leagues. Tue wed and Thurs nights respectively. All leagues have SPA affiliation and play blackball rules. In Glasgow there are 2 divisions. Most 2nd division teams are made up of local players so if you want to give me a locale I can point you in direction of nearest teams. by SlitheryBuggah (Wed 1st Jan 2020 1:44pm)
  • OK. Maguires down in barlanark, top of Hall Hill Road, have 3 teams I think. If you don't mind south side then the Ballroom in ledard Road has several teams of varying ability Qclub at charing Cross has a 2nd division team. Lad called Davie captains them. Ask Lake or Joan behind the bar to put you in touch. Sportsman's bar in Rutherglen International bar in southside Obviously I have no idea of the standard you play at or if you're just beginning but getting to any of those places on a Tuesday night (and hope there's a home game) should at least let you see who plays and the standard involved. It's bang in the middle of the season atm so most teams won't take on anyone new as there are costs involved but it's a good time to practice with people. Teams are always looking to flesh out squads in August. Good luck bud by SlitheryBuggah (Thu 2nd Jan 2020 10:52am)
  • Yeah I went once. It was really cheesy and had no atmosphere /coat by SlitheryBuggah (Thu 9th Jan 2020 10:34pm)
  • I'd say Edinburgh has been streets ahead of Glasgow in terms of food and drink for years. There appears to far more variety and availability than there is in Glasgow. I'm not particularly talking about chain restaurants nor am I saying that there's a higher standard but I know where to go in Edinburgh if I want Malaysian food, Persian food or Northern Chinese (none of your msg stuff) and I find that lacking in town. Glasgow seems to have gone the route of modernisation and out of town malls whereas Edinburgh is embracing the traditional olde world and sometimes painfully hipster vibe. I can find about 20 second hand book stores within a mile of the grassmarket, Italian restaurants that do Haggis Ravioli (incredible BTW), a dozen pubs that will have local brews as well as tennents and Stella and a public transport system (no not the trams) that is fairly clear to understand. I love my home city, but we fell behind years ago when our major industries that built the character of the city took a beating. We're very much 2nd in the race when it comes to tourism and catering to a multitude of tastes. Sauchiehall and Argyle Street are full of charity and pound shops. Our malls are full of the same repetitive crap that's seen anywhere in the country, sunglass hut, quiz, forever 21, next, game. About the only thing we have going is Build a Bear and John Lewis. Saying that, Edinburgh nice for a day out, but I'd live in Glasgow every single time given the choice. I would love to be proven wrong tho, maybe I'm just seeing the same old things because I'm too familiar, so have at it. by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 11:44am)
  • It's seriously amazing. Italian place off Lothian Road headed towards the pubic triangle. Wish I could remember the name. by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 4:32pm)
  • Not saying there's anything wrong with it but it's my understanding that it's a Japanese invention, not Chinese and proper Chinese food doesn't have it. I'm not saying I don't like a good sweet n sour and salt chilli chicken either. I love that stuff. Just that I also like proper dim sum and other things that's tough to get in town. My favourite place for that is Chop Chop by haymarket, its awesome. They tried to open one at the bottom of West Mile and it flopped 😕 wrong location tho by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 4:31pm)
  • I can understand that but a lot of the city centre pubs in Glasgow made their money when women went shopping and the guys went to the pub at the weekend. That culture doesn't exist anymore so there has to be a reason for people to go to the centre and it can't just be for a drink, people can do that at their local, for cheaper too. by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 4:38pm)
  • I don't think that's entirely accurate. Edinburgh has the Royal Mile and a few streets which is dedicated to the tartan fluff you're describing but move a street or 2 back and you do have a real mix of shops. Glasgow used to be full of them. You could go down Hope or Union Street and get loads of shops with stuff you weren't going to see in River Island or Next but last time I was there it was all coffee shops, designer gin/vodka bars and offices. Used to be you had the Virginia galleries for the off beat crowd, merchant City had tons for the suits or extravagant clubbers etc. Glasgow was a market town and the independent stores mirrored that. There's very little left. I absolutely agree with you on the way things are going and the cuts made by the high heid yins are not helping. I'd like to see a bit more of our money going towards the support of businesses in our main streets like Queen Street, argyle St, Sauchiehall St, St Vincent St etc. by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 4:46pm)
  • Jenners is leaving because its house of fraser and Sports Direct own it, chances are Frasers in Buchanan Street will follow shortly whilst Mike Ashley milks it by flogging sports socks and toilet seats out of it. by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 4:53pm)
  • Definitely not Michelin starred but step away from the royal mile and prince's Street and there's tons of places and fantastic variety. I never said Glasgow lacked in quality but Edinburgh has a better choice by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 5:02pm)
  • Cheers Broomoid, I was kinda talking about the centre rather than the South side etc but point taken. Some of those look awesome. I'll be trying a few this year 😁 by SlitheryBuggah (Sat 1st Feb 2020 5:16pm)

  • /r/motouk is my go to. What kind of riding are you into? Sports, commuting,Touring, offroad etc? by SlitheryBuggah (Sun 17th May 2020 4:25pm)
  • Triumph tiger, maybe need a set of knobblies for any offroad stuff tho. Any of the bmw f series. My advice other than that is to look at 2nd hand Japanese bikes. Engines generally bulletproof, loads of parts and availability, very rarely boring. Commuting - suzuki sv650, kawasaki er6n or er6f or ninja 650, yamaha Mt 07 , 09 or older fazer. Touring - yamaha tenere, suzuki v strom, Honda transalp for adventure styles. Otherwise any faired model All rounders - suzuki bandit. Does everything but isn't exciting. Exciting bikes - anything Italian as long as you have breakdown recovery and a garage full of spare parts! KTM Duke series. Awesome bikes and wheelietastic, Personally I love my kawasaki zx6r, but it is sporty, and my Honda blackbird, which is a whole lot of bike and scares the living daylights out of me 🤣 by SlitheryBuggah (Mon 18th May 2020 8:46am)
  • Definitely 😁 by SlitheryBuggah (Mon 18th May 2020 1:57pm)

  • Hamilton generally but depends where. Can't say I ever thought of Wishaw being close to Shettleston tho, is it even on the same rail link? Which college? by SlitheryBuggah (Tue 26th May 2020 5:46pm)
  • Yup 201 gets you there I work in Airdrie and used to travel into town to central, walk to Queen St and get train to sunnyside. Pita but better than the 2 buses from Larkhall. Wishaw isn't any better for getting to coatbridge really. I'd look at motherwell, Bellshill or Airdrie area if there's any options. There's a few call centres and stuff in the area too if you need part time work while at college. by SlitheryBuggah (Tue 26th May 2020 6:23pm)

  • It's not a difficult job for anyone capable of running cables of any kind. Personally I hate doing it but I'm a lazy sod 😁 You'll need to practice somewhat with the punch down tool and feeding individual wires into rj45 connections. Then there's fitting the wall sockets, running the cables to each room from the hub etc. Or you can do what I've done (but better) I don't know the layout of your house or anything so this is general. I'm assuming the router/hub will be at one side of the house, not central. First job is to get a single length of cat 6 to a central location or if over 2 floors, 2 cables to central locations on each floor. This may involve running a cable up a wall and into the gap between ceiling and floor above, depending on what you need. You then connect a switch to this (cupboard with power socket would be ideal) and then run other cables to the desired rooms. If you have a console/pc/tv etc then another switch there and individual connections to each device. I've cheated a bit and avoided sockets etc, I've brought the cables in behind desks and radiators so they're disguised. It's also unlikely you'll need full access in each room so I'd prioritise certain rooms and just make sure the others have decent WiFi coverage by using Wireless Access Points (routers with dhcp disabled work well). So if you have a media heavy room, study. kids bedroom etc then they get cables, kitchen/spare bedroom etc don't. Disguise cables running up walls with pvc trunking in corners etc. Failing that go find a networking student looking for a project and pay them, but tbh a decent handyman be better for running and disguising cables. Hope this made sense. by SlitheryBuggah (Tue 23rd Jun 2020 8:27pm)
  • HEY! I live in Larkhall and I completely agree with this statement... by SlitheryBuggah (Mon 6th Jul 2020 1:57pm)
  • Ouch. I had the misfortune of that for 2 years l, then I was packed off to Hamilton where the wrong uns (according to Larkhall) went. by SlitheryBuggah (Mon 6th Jul 2020 6:02pm)

  • Don't just threaten to leave. Make sure you get out through to cancellations. Have a few comparisons ready, hyperoptic, bt, sky, talk talk. Look closely at what you use, I've had 500Mb for years, it's nice for the occasional download but on the whole unnecessary. It won't improve streaming/gaming or anything else. I've moved to 200, weekend calls and max tb. £45p/m. I used to work for VM, I know their system. They have set packages to offer people who leave. Push them to get something similar. Be prepared to be put on hold and for the process to take a while. by SlitheryBuggah (Thu 19th May 2022 12:10am)
  • Wishaw masters. It's just off the main street by SlitheryBuggah (Sun 26th Jun 2022 12:08am)
  • Off the top of my head and I know some have been mentioned already. Ballroom - battlefield, coatbridge near asda and tesco, Bellshill behind tesco about 5 mins walk from train station. Q club at charing cross Reardons hope St (don't rate this place as tables looked abused the one time I was in) Airdrie working mens club (not sure if there's entry requirements) Mcgoldricks has at least one table but it's mainly a pool hall, cracking place too. Main St rutherglen Juniors motherwell, 2 mins from train station. Single table. Another cracking venue though. There was Denniston Masters behind City Park iirc? The old wills cigarette factory, lots of pros played there. Have never been in. Used to always find tables in miners clubs, social clubs and British Legions but most are long gone, Partick snooker closed down around 15 years ago or so and I never knew of other tables in the area. by SlitheryBuggah (Sun 26th Jun 2022 12:23am)
