  • It's all a bit emotional. The last set of students moving out, throwing the entire contents of their flat on to the street ready for the next bunch moving in. I look forward to a slightly different voice bellowing Wonderwall at three in the morning. by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Wed 17th Jul 2019 11:36pm)
  • You... um... replied. Happy Sunday! by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sun 1st Sep 2019 9:20pm)
  • Yes, even saving on letters ☚ī¸. It is a pity they don't think such a worthy cause is worth a spell checker by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sun 1st Sep 2019 9:41pm)

  • My displeasure in other people's bad spelling by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sun 1st Sep 2019 9:59pm)
  • Well... no, I'm afraid not - the "let's" bit is future tense. Ho hum by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Mon 2nd Sep 2019 10:40am)
  • Definitely not Munro's. They may have great beer selection, good food, games, a pub quiz, and a good location, I want to find a table when I walk in there. by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sat 12th Oct 2019 10:44pm)
  • How easy is it to get the council to... Ha ha by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Fri 31st Jan 2020 11:24pm)
  • One or two more buildings have burned down. On an unrelated note, a number of student blocks have been built. by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Fri 31st Jan 2020 11:23pm)
  • It's just habit for many. I had to step off the pavement on Elderslie St the other day - no biggie, since there was no cars on the road. Or bikes on the double cycle lane that the cyclist chose not to use. Like the ongoing gripes with inconsiderate joggers/pedestrians/other making distancing difficult (even dangerous), there is always a minority. However, if you leave your house with no intention of using the part of the road/pavement designated for you, you are planning on being inconsiderate and dangerous. By all means continue to pressure the council into improving cycling routes, but in the meantime either take quieter roads or don't cycle. by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Thu 14th May 2020 10:59pm)
  • Ooh. 😊 Would it be better if I said "beep beep beep" while doing it... 😋 by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sat 10th Apr 2021 12:10am)
  • I suspected some binmen on here are feeling attacked 😊 I checked with the council (being a responsible member of the community and all that) and they confirmed they expect any collections to be in the 7am to 7pm time range, i.e. "sociable hours"... so dunno what happened. Ho hum by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sat 10th Apr 2021 12:43pm)
  • Ok... I think I can see where the confusion is - I apologise for my poor communication. I think these links might help https://emojipedia.org/people/ - this might help you to see that when a face with a sticking out tongue is used, that sentence is not there to be taken too seriously. Emojis are a great way of expressing intent when it might not be clear from the words. I'd really encourage you to study them to help you avoid wrongly picking up the meaning. In this case, as a counter point to the councils behaviour, I jokingly said I could do the same. Joking. See? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Straw_man - you mentioned logic elsewhere - that's great, logic is very important. In that comment you implied that I can't complain about the collection being done in unsociable hours because it is their job to collect the rubbish. That is called a logical fallacy, since that is not the choice given. I clearly have no objection to rubbish being collected, I just object to it being done at an unsociable time. As a bonus reference, see https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/noise-nuisance-and-neighbours (11pm - 7am are 'night time) that, as my comment above says, is what the council themselves agree they should be sticking to. This isn't 'normal' or a part of city living.. this is them breaking their own policy. Lastly, I'm concerned about the implications of your tone. I'm not sure if you were dropped on your head as a child - if so, i'm sorry for your predicament. If that isn't the case, you might consider why you take a comment like this so personally. Perhaps looking through https://www.healthline.com/health/aggressive-behavior#causes would help to see if your diet (e.g. high protein) is affecting you, or some other mental condition for which you can seek treatment. I hope you find those sources helpful. Have a good day! by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sun 11th Apr 2021 2:47pm)
  • Exactly. More important is to make sure the water is just above freezing. You want to shock them but not kill them. by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Mon 27th Jun 2022 5:26pm)
  • I look to invest at least 2 woooshes per day. 😛 by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Fri 6th Jan 2023 10:38pm)

  • Let me guess. Not just permits, but Monday to Sunday 8am - 10pm, to cope with the demand of all those commuters that clog the streets at 9pm on a Sunday night. by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Thu 12th Jan 2023 3:48pm)
  • We're all entitled to our opinion, of course... but whatever you say, say nothing... you should hang your head 😜 by TheOriginalAlfonzo (Sun 15th Jan 2023 5:38pm)
